My February Favourites

February was a pretty fun month and I thought I would share some of My February Favourites with you guys!

Books

“She smokes like a chimney, drinks like a fish and dresses like her mother”

Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding

This book is eccentric, hilarious, crazy and fun. It may not be a literary classic but everyone needs to read this book at least once. It’s about a woman, Bridget, who is concerned about dying alone and being eaten by her dogs. In her desperation she ends up with a flirty, player and snubs a genuinely sweet man. The story consists of her figuring her life out and learning more about herself at the same time. If you want to read my full review for this book click here.

The Unknown Ego

This book is about the Freudian theory of the ego and how it effects behavior. It explains from a psychodynamic approach how human behavior is effected by the by our earlier experiences in life. I would not really encourage everyone to read it but I would encourage anyone who is interested in psychology, especially the psychodynamic approach, to check this book out. I’m still barely starting to learn psychology but since I want to become a therapist I thought I should read up on it and this book was so easy to follow and simple so I also really liked it for that reason.

“The quicker you let go of old cheese the sooner you find new cheese”

Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Jones

As someone who finds change thoroughly uncomfortable this book was pretty helpful. I can sometimes be obsessive and I enjoy being habitual but this book was really helpful in pointing out the errors of my ways. To anyone who suffers from something similar I would strongly advise you to pick up a copy of this book.

Music

I don’t really have a particular song that I am obsessed with right now (except Work because it keeps getting stuck in my head) but I right now I am obsessed with The Ramones and everything by them.

Movies

Bridget Jones’s Diary

I really wanted to watch this movie after reading the book and I have to admit it was a great movie. The plot was very similar although not the same as some timings of events were changed. Something I didn’t particularly enjoy in the movie was how they had cut out most of the things Bridget’s mother and father did. Apart from a few annoying changes most of the changes were actually good and didn’t ruin the movie or plot at all. I also liked how the picked Colin Firth to play Mark Darcy!

The Man From U.N.C.L.E

This movie was both funny and entertaining. It had quite some action in it so it didn’t get boring at all. The witty humor, sarcasm and irony made the movie very enjoyable to watch. The plot pretty much revolves around two agents, one Russian and one American, who are forced to work together during the time of the Cold War.

  1. Ohh I loved Man from UNCLE. It has this artistry about it. Like an old movie with Eva Mendez I watched: Spirit. Very interesting. You forgot Kungfu Panda 3

    1. The Man From UNCLE was so fascinating especially since I am really interested in the Cold War. Spirit sounds good. I unfortunately haven’t watched Kung Fu Panda 3 yet but I’ll try to watch it as soon as my exams get over!

      1. Awesome. Why are you interested in the Cold War period? It wasn’t a good time

        1. Oh yeah it was definitely horrible but we are studying the Cold War in History right now so it was interesting in that sense
