What Are We Running From?

What are we running from?

Why are we in such a hurry to leave?

Where are we going?

Do we ever have a destination?

Will being free really free us?

Who are we running from?

Can we ever run away from ourselves?

Is this all life is?

What are we running from?

“What Are We Running From?” is a poem that first appeared on Lifesfinewhine. This poem is about how we often spend our lives running from one thing or another. We run from life, we run from our problems, we run from others and very often we run from ourselves. However, do we ever stop and think why. Often the cause of our unhappiness is because we run so much and we never stop and think. We never realise that facing our demons is the tougher option but it will make us happy in the long run. What are your thoughts on this? Let me know in the comments below.

    1. Hahaha! Thank you so much! I’m glad you stopped by for some poetry! I’m great and I really hope you are too 🙂
I was watching your motivation Monday video, although it’s usually Tuesday when I watch it because of the time difference and it’s really great. It’s really cool how your channel is growing!!

      1. PoojaG,
I don’t think I have mentioned this to you, but my grandmother just recently told me that my mom was a poet most of her life (like took it very serious) and so was her brother and younger sister as well. She also mentioned how one of my aunts whom passed away was a poet as well and she ended up having her published in a magazine. I thought it would be awesome to share this with you. I never knew my mom did poetry but I guess from what I was told she was very good 🙂 so yes, poetry now hits home & you do well utilizing your words. How long does it take you to come up with verses, how do you know if you like it or not?

        1. Wow that is really interesting to hear. I guess poetry runs in your family. That’s probably why you’re so good at writing too. Have you had the chance to read anything by your mum or aunt?
I often think that everyone has the potential to be a poet because each and everyone one of us has unique experiences as well as thoughts and emotions and poetry is such an amazing outlet. It usually doesn’t take me too long to write my poems because I find it’s best to write when the emotions are still raw. I tend to write a lot of poems at a go but when I read them again before I post them some of them just don’t feel right and those are the ones I don’t like I guess and the ones that get posted are the ones I like.
It would be amazing if you tried out writing some poetry and I would be more than happy to post it on my blog since I know your blog doesn’t deal with poetry. Really you should try it out I think you would really enjoy it.

          1. I have read one of my moms poems, I actually kept a copy my grandmother let me have 🙂 was awesome! I was very shocked. I guess she does have talents! xD hahahahahahah jk.
Have you tried your hand at writing different forms of poetry? or do you like sticking with the same form/type? Also, I might give it go, but I won’t say I am any good at it! haha. Not to mention I am a perfectionist so it needs to sound good! lmfao.
Do you have a place you store your poetry besides wordpress? have you thought about getting any of it published?

            1. Wow that’s really great. It’s great that your mum was so into poetry although it’s hard to make it a career I guess. But it’s so awesome you’re getting to see this new side of your mum too! 🙂
Yeah in High School we did a lot of different poetry and I tried a lot of stuff then but right now I’m pretty comfortable with free verse poetry although I am hoping to try some different styles too. I think for me poetry is just fun to write no matter how it’s written.
I haven’t really had any poetry published and I don’t think I’ve ever written on any other site except teenink.com. I usually just write it in this little book I keep near my bed in the middle of the night and end up forgetting about it for a few days I would love to have my poetry published someday but like you I’m a perfectionist and I just don’t think I’m there yet.
One of my best friends is a total perfectionist too and she always said she couldn’t write poetry but she tried it and now she loves it so you should totally write some stuff even if it starts out not great. I mean that’s how everyone starts out you’ll get better at it the more you try. And then guest post it here so I can take credit for it! Lol jk

              1. Omg your last comment made me crack up laughing so hard!!!! Lmao “Then guest post it here so I can take credit for it” Pft, I knew you were up to no good!

                1. Lol now you know…
