Your Words- A Poem

Your words

Taste like lava in my mouth

Burning me

From the inside

They bring me back together

Just so you can tear me down again

They hurt so much

I want to rip my skin out

Words flow from your lips

Like a thousand lashed of a whip

Bruising my mind

Hurting my sanity

“Your Words” is a poem that first appeared on Lifesfinewhine. I wrote this poem because many people forget how much power words have. We may not realise it but what we say is very powerful. And they may be impacting those around us more than we realise. Others do realise how much impact words have and use that to manipulate us. That is what this poem is about.

What did you think of this poem? Have you ever said something you regretted? How have things others have said to you effected you? Let me know in the comments below because I would love to hear from you and your thoughts on this topic.

  7. Having been fooled into internalizing the negativity of others I can really relate to this poem. Fortunately last year I finely realized that it was not me who was the problem but the toxic sociopaths with whom I have to relate with who are at fault.

    1. It’s very difficult for a lot of people to blame others for their problems because we always tend to blame ourselves and sometimes manipulative people around us can make us feel like it’s our fault not theirs even though that’s not true. The most important thing you can do for yourself is to surround yourself with positivity and positive people. I’m so glad you could figure out that it is the people around you that are toxic because now you can make changes in your life and a lot of people unfortunately can not see that they are not to blame until it’s too late.
