I Want To Give In

I want to give up

I want to let go

I want to drown

Until I can’t breathe anymore

I want to give in

I don’t want to feel like this

I just want to give in

As many of the people that follow me on this blog may know, I suffer from clinical depression. I was diagnosed as a teenager and have been battling with it ever since. This poem, “Give In”, was inspired by the feelings I was experiencing during a depressive episode. Depression is something that often comes in waves. At least it feels that way for me. Some days you can be totally okay and the next day the depression can really hit you. I try to fight as much as I can but the truth is sometimes it can be really exhausting. My mind sometimes wants to give up. Of course, I hope I never give up but sometimes it feels easier to.

  1. Beautiful and true. I can’t write poetry and truly respect and am in awe of those who can.

    1. Thank you so much! Maybe you should try out poetry because I honestly believe that everyone can write poetry- you just need to be in a certain state of mind I guess 🙂

      1. It makes me angry to do like abstract art or playing the piano. My creative outlet is drawing. I appreciate more because it makes me angry to do it I think.

  4. I can really relate to this poem since many times a day I myself think of taking my own life yet chose life instead in spite of the pain.

    1. I think true bravery is being terrified but still choosing to face your problems instead of giving up and taking the easy way out. I’m sure you have your problems as do most of us but we always need to remember that these problems and our life is never permanent. Things change all the time and you never know what’s waiting out there for you 🙂

  5. Well written, I hope you don’t harbour such thoughts………………
