Sometimes I feel
Like I need to head down
To the ground
Live like everyone else
But why should I?
It’s so much better up here
With my head in the clouds
I think I’ll stay here a little longer…
As you guys may or may not know, I’m a maladaptive daydreamer. It’s a term I have recently learnt. I knew I was this way for a long time but did not realise there was an actual term for it. Or that other people experienced something similar too. That is what inspired this poem “Head Down.” Maladaptive daydreaming can be a great escape from reality but it can also be really damaging to your real life. It’s something I struggle with because I am always tempted to daydream.
Have you heard about maladaptive daydreaming before? Are you a maladaptive daydreamer? Do you enjoy daydreaming? Do you daydream to sometimes escape reality? Let me know in the comments below because I am very curious to hear your thoughts. Or simple stop by and say hi!
