Ways To Make Your Blog Look Professional

Ways To Make Your Blog Look Professional

You do not need to necessarily have a super professional looking blog but it would help increase both traffic and followers. It would also help if you are thinking of attracting sponsors or working with other blogs as more companies are likely to work with you if you have a very professional looking blog. Anyway, here are some ways to make your blog look professional:

1. Edit

One of the first things people tend to notice is whether or not your post has been edited. It may not seem like a big deal and it may seem like your writing is fine but a lot of times when you reread your post you will find little mistakes you didn’t even realize you had made. Make sure to read through it at least once to check for spelling errors and grammar mistakes. A well edited post shows the reader that you have put a lot of work and effort into it and looks really professional.

2. Use High Quality Pictures

To make your posts seem more professional be sure to use high quality images.  It looks much more professional and you’ll be more likely to get sponsors or companies that want to work with you.

3. Create Social Media Pages

Advertise your blog on social media. Most professional blogs do tend to have social media pages such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Another really great place to create a profile on is LinkedIn. Here you can broaden your professional connections and also find jobs.

4. Organize Your Blog

If you want your blog to look professional you have to make sure it is well organised. Make sure it has specific categories and tags the reader can use to find specific posts.

5. Sound Professional

This sounds a little obvious but try to sound professional by doing things such as avoiding too many contractions. I am totally guilty of breaking this rule and I tend to use contractions a lot but this is where editing comes in. When you reread your post make sure to get rid of any contractions that are unnecessary or anything that doesn’t sound professional.

  5. Yeah, the contractions are something I think about. You want to sound natural and not too wooden. But if it’s too free-floating, people might not take the content seriously. Tough call. You nailed it.

BTW, I’m finding the free Grammarly app for Chrome and the Grammarly keyboard for Android a godsend. 🙂

    1. I’ve actually heard of Grammarly is it really all it’s hyped up to be??

      1. lol… well i like it. I use it in conjunction with power thesaurus (also a Chrome addon). For an old school boy like me who grew up with paper writing aids, it’s all magic!

  17. I agree. When I create short stories, and the first thing I look for is feedback. This is because it lets me know what people think about my story. They can also help you become a better writer.Great advice.

    1. Thanks glad you agree!

  18. Thanks for the tips. I’m guilty of using (overusing?) contractions but, as earthpages.org noted, it’s a delicate balance between trying for a conversational tone without coming off as unprofessional. But then, I just started my blog #ReadMyLips and really haven’t considered trying to cash in on it. That was never my intent. Simply a vehicle for posting book reviews and the occasional self-expression.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed the post and best of luck with blogging you’ll get the hang of it soon enough!

    1. Yeah it can be hard to get high quality pictures sometimes.

      1. I think I’ll post myself soon. When I first started blogging it even before I was so adamant about being anonymous. It was really more about not wanting to be rejected because of my looks and just seen for my content. Have you ever felt that way.

        1. Yeah I understand how you feel about being concerned about being judged for your looks. It took a while before I put a profile pic but honestly I realised over time that it really doesn’t matter what you look like if your content is good.
