I have been meaning to do this post for quite a while now because I had a couple of requests on my comments section asking me for it. So sorry it took forever and here it is- hope it helps.
I thought I would write the first part of this blog on how to actually schedule your post. WordPress can be a little tricky sometimes to get the hang of and I thought I would share this post first to help new bloggers learn how they can schedule their posts. The next post will be about the benefits of scheduling your post as well as how to schedule the perfect times for your post to get more views and follows.
- Once you are done writing your post on your dashboard go to the right side of the screen where it says “publish” and select the “edit” button.
2. Next pick the time and date you would like the post to be published.
3. After picking the time and date click the “OK” button.
4. After clicking ‘OK’ you will notice that blue button that usually says ‘Publish’ will have changed to ‘Schedule’. Click on the ‘Schedule’ button and this will complete the process of scheduling your post.

As a new blogger this info was very helpful! Thank you 😊
thanks for the info; do you have any thoughts on when the best time of day is to actually publish your blog?
I do and that post is coming out tomorrow- it will help you find the optimum time of the day to post!
Just a reminder to check your local time against the time zone for WordPress. Looking forward to your next post Pooja!
Yes definitely check that thank you!
Great advice, I pland and schedule posts up to a month in advance.
I am a chronic scheduler and often have posts scheduled up to a month in advance.
Haha I’m the same way!
It’s amazing what you can do!
Thank you this is really great advice, especially as a new blogger 🙂
Thank you hope it helps!

Hope it helps!
I use this a lot. I have 3 posts scheduled right now.

🙂 I have been scheduling my blog posts for ages.
Also, I would like to thank you for teaching other bloggers how they can schedule their blog posts for a future date.

Thanks for the post! Just the other day I was thinking that I should start scheduling my posts as I will be busier and busier in the next year! Can’t wait to read part 2! 😊
Thank you and part 2 is up!!
Saw it, read it, loved it, thanks!!
Awesome thank you!
I came here straight from one of your recent posts, I’ve never tried scheduling posts, I rather just pile them up in my notes app and publish when I feel like.
However, this seems quite helpful especially in busy times but I’ve always had a bother…
If I schedule a post let’s say in two hours time, do I need internet connection before it goes online or it’s automatic?
I’ll be awaiting a keen response PoojaG! Thanks.
Yeah the post will go up even if you’re not online or signed in! Hope this helps with the consistency- this way you can post at the exact same time.
Thank you so much! This helped seriously!!
Once I learned how to do this, it was a godsend. My publishing times became much more predictable and my readership was better for it. I highly recommend bloggers using this tool!
It was the same for me- scheduling is really helpful!
Great advice will do this surely
Thanks hope it helps!
Thank you, this post helped out so much. I also want to thank you for following. Hope you have a good weekend.
Thanks happy to hear it helped!
It’s great when it works like it is supposed to. However, I have found that in only works about 70% of the time. Not sure if you have noticed or not, but there are times where it doesn’t post when it is supposed to and you actually have to go to the scheduled post to get WordPress to trigger the scheduled post. Kind of frustrating when you know it should have posted and you’re waiting for the post notification and it never comes.
Oh wow I had no idea that happens because mine have been posting on time so far.
That’s good. It could be the time you are choosing to post. I have noticed that if I post at the top of the hour that it happens more frequently (likely because their autopost sweeper is busier at those times) than when I post say a couple minutes before/after the top of the hour. It still happens, but less frequently then.
Oh interesting I’ll have to look out for that.
Hi Pooja, I am nominating you for the Liebster Award
Here’s the link
omg this post is so helpfull !!
Thanks so happy to hear that!
Love all these posts and find them so helpful! Looking forward to seeing the next one’s ❤️
Thank you so much!
Thanks! I had no idea you could do that!
You’re welcome and it’s totally a game changer!
I knew how to do this already, but I’m not sure I know when is the best time to post. I live in a strange timezone that’s neither here nor there.
I would suggest trying out different times and find out what gets you the best results and stick with that.
I calculated that I need to schedule 43 blog posts in advance for next year to stay as active as I am now. So far my blog posts have been scattered and on a whim, but I do use the schedule in advance feature to schedule my times. Because I’m a night owl, I often write posts at 11pm but my optimum time is during the day (between 11am And 1pm) so I usually end up scheduling it for the next day!
Haha I’m the same way and love to do my writing at night but post at 6 am so I definitely need to schedule my posts- there’s no way I’m getting up that early!
I tried this in the past and it did not work. I have had other issues with Word Press though.
Yeah I heard it doesn’t work for everyone I’m not sure why.
One of the downfalls of WordPress. Some of these actions don’t work.
Yeah WordPress does have some bugs they need to fix.
I shared your two posts about scheduling on my blog
Thank you so much I really appreciate it!
Thanks for the info , thanks for sharing your posts is always helpful and inspiring
Glad to hear that!
Figuring out how to use this tool is SUCH game changer! 💯
Agreed! Your life becomes so much easier once you start scheduling posts!
I will definitely start utilizing this tool. Thank you!
Hope it helps!
As someone just starting out, this was really helpful, thank you!
So glad to hear that!
This is great thank you. I’m not usually consistent with my blogs so this will help me to give content at scheduled times
Glad it helped!
This was so helpful.
Glad to hear that!
I’ve been thinking about scheduling mine but I wonder… how does the sharing to LinkedIn/Facebook etc work when you schedule?
If you share the post through WP it automatically gets shared when your post gets scheduled.
Fab! Thanks so much!
