How To Schedule Your Posts On WordPress #1

How To Schedule Your Posts On WordPress

I have been meaning to do this post for quite a while now because I had a couple of requests on my comments section asking me for it. So sorry it took forever. Here is how to schedule your posts on WordPress:

Part 1:

I thought I would write the first part of this blog on how to actually schedule your post. WordPress can be a little tricky sometimes to get the hang of and I thought I would share this post first to help new bloggers learn how they can schedule their posts. The next post will be about the benefits of scheduling your post as well as how to schedule the perfect times for your post to get more views and follows.

  1. Once you are done writing your post on your dashboard go to the right side of the screen where it says “publish” and select the “edit” button.

2. Next pick the time and date you would like the post to be published.

3. After picking the time and date click the “OK” button.

4. After clicking ‘OK’ you will notice that blue button that usually says ‘Publish’ will have changed to ‘Schedule’. Click on the ‘Schedule’ button and this will complete the process of scheduling your post.

Let me know in the comments if this was helpful!

    2. I came here straight from one of your recent posts, I’ve never tried scheduling posts, I rather just pile them up in my notes app and publish when I feel like.
However, this seems quite helpful especially in busy times but I’ve always had a bother…
If I schedule a post let’s say in two hours time, do I need internet connection before it goes online or it’s automatic?
I’ll be awaiting a keen response PoojaG! Thanks.

      1. Yeah the post will go up even if you’re not online or signed in! Hope this helps with the consistency- this way you can post at the exact same time.

        1. Thank you so much! This helped seriously!!

    1. Thanks happy to hear it helped!

  17. It’s great when it works like it is supposed to. However, I have found that in only works about 70% of the time. Not sure if you have noticed or not, but there are times where it doesn’t post when it is supposed to and you actually have to go to the scheduled post to get WordPress to trigger the scheduled post. Kind of frustrating when you know it should have posted and you’re waiting for the post notification and it never comes.

    1. Oh wow I had no idea that happens because mine have been posting on time so far.

      1. That’s good. It could be the time you are choosing to post. I have noticed that if I post at the top of the hour that it happens more frequently (likely because their autopost sweeper is busier at those times) than when I post say a couple minutes before/after the top of the hour. It still happens, but less frequently then.

        1. Oh interesting I’ll have to look out for that.

  18. Hi Pooja, I am nominating you for the Liebster Award

  23. I knew how to do this already, but I’m not sure I know when is the best time to post. I live in a strange timezone that’s neither here nor there.

    1. I would suggest trying out different times and find out what gets you the best results and stick with that.

  24. I calculated that I need to schedule 43 blog posts in advance for next year to stay as active as I am now. So far my blog posts have been scattered and on a whim, but I do use the schedule in advance feature to schedule my times. Because I’m a night owl, I often write posts at 11pm but my optimum time is during the day (between 11am And 1pm) so I usually end up scheduling it for the next day!

    1. Haha I’m the same way and love to do my writing at night but post at 6 am so I definitely need to schedule my posts- there’s no way I’m getting up that early!

  25. I tried this in the past and it did not work. I have had other issues with Word Press though.

    1. Yeah I heard it doesn’t work for everyone I’m not sure why.

      1. One of the downfalls of WordPress. Some of these actions don’t work.

        1. Yeah WordPress does have some bugs they need to fix.

  31. […] Be consistent– Consistency is seriously important when blogging. It helps your readers know when your post is going to go up, whether you are still active because some people quit blogging after a while and you can schedule your posts for the optimum time so as to reach the maximum number of readers.I know it’s not always possible when you have things going on in life but I would highly recommend trying to schedule your posts in such a way that you are posting at the same time every day/week. What I personally like to do is write my posts in advance so that I don’t have to worry about it throughout the week when I’m preoccupied with university. Posting regularly makes a huge difference and will definitely help you increase your followers/traffic. To learn how to schedule your posts for maximum reach click here. […]

  32. […] Your posts aren’t scheduled- A lot of people may want to read your posts but aren’t sure when they’ll be up if you post randomly. A lot of people may not follow you if they aren’t sure if you’re still posting or if they assume you post randomly. Posting regularly and scheduling your posts to go up at the same time every week/day can really boost your following. If you aren’t sure how to find the optimum time to schedule your post click here. 33. […] Not being consistent- If you don’t post consistently at the same time readers may not know when to visit your blog for new posts. If you don’t post for a while they may also think you’ve stopped blogging which is pretty common sometimes. Scheduling your post and remaining consistent can really help increase your traffic. 45. […] For those of us who have other things going on besides blogging, which I’m assuming is almost everyone, you can always use the “schedule post” feature on WordPress for when you don’t have time to post on schedule.
