Ways To Beat Writers Block
If you’re a writer you have very likely experienced writers block at some point and I think we can all agree that it straight up sucks. I’ve been blogging for a few years now and over time it did get harder to come up with new topics and post ideas. Especially after I started university. I also know that many other bloggers also suffer from this problem as I’ve talked about it in the comments section with multiple bloggers. So, I thought I would share some ways to beat writers block:
Prompts
A lot of bloggers enjoy using prompts to come up with ideas for new topics to write about and a lot of blogs do offer prompts. I think prompts are a great way to get your creative juices flowing when you feel like you can’t think of what topics to write on.
Take a break
Sometimes the best ideas come to you when you least expect them. If you feel like you’ve tried everything and still aren’t able to write take a break for a while until you start feeling inspired again. I think giving your mind a break and letting the idea come to you instead of forcing it out is a better idea.
Meditation
I have found meditation to be really life changing for me. Whenever I feel like I’m in a rut- not just with writing even with life in general- I just sit down and meditate for a while. It’s like a breath of fresh air for your mind and will help you get rid of all the extra noise in your head. It will help you concentrate on the problem and help you solve it.
Look for inspiration
Just because you can’t write doesn’t mean you can’t read! Try checking out other blogs and draw inspiration from their work. It might inspire you to write something. I try to read at least 50 new posts a day these days because I really have little else going on and I want to spend my time supporting other bloggers.
Try something new
I’ve noticed that when I have writers block it’s sometimes because I’ve been writing similar posts or posts on the same topic for a while and my brain is like we need to do something new. This might be why you’re experiencing writers block as well. Try writing on a different niche or try writing a different type of post. Switch it up a little and it might inspire you to start writing again!
So these are my ways to beat writers block. Have you ever experienced writer’s block and if so what are some methods you use to combat it? Let me know in the comments below I would love to hear your thoughts!
