Experiences I Want Post Lockdown

Life six word story | experiences I want post lockdown:

Life During Lockdown

A few months ago everything seemed to change for almost everyone. Our regular lifestyle, schedules and lives in general were changed as we went into lockdown. Although the changes have been made for safety reasons there are still things that we really miss that we wish we could still experience. Naveesha, a fellow blogger and I were talking about this and decided to collaborate on a post about what we miss most and what we are excited to experience after this lockdown/pandemic is over. The first four are hers and the last four are mine. We hope you enjoy reading the post as much as we did writing it! So without further ado, here are the experiences we want post lockdown:

Pub Dates

Underrated but I miss cheap and cheerful pub dates where you meet up with friends and get a pint (overpriced if you’re in London, of course) and talk and anything and everything. Bonus point if there’s a pub garden because who doesn’t love a bit of Sun and Sangria. Pub culture is just easy, laid back and chilled which is needed after a long stint of lockdown

Beauty Treatments

There’s a strong chance my eyebrow lady will not recognise me the next time I see her. Or she’ll be speechless when she realises that lockdown pressure culminated in me trying to do my own eyebrows which resulted in a slight disaster. Suffice to say, give me the works (after it is safe, of course). A Mani, Pedi and a facial. Stat.

Food, Glorious, Food

My eyes are definitely going to be bigger than my stomach when all the restaurants open up again. Lockdown has reminded me that I need to be expanding my culinary bucket list and there is are variety of feasts that any foodie can appreciate.

Staycations

International travel is going to be difficult in the foreseeable future as borders will likely stay closed until it is safe to travel. I definitely want to explore more of the UK and see gems like Cornwall and even partake in a road trip to Scotland.

Hugs

I am not someone who is super into hugging or really showing a lot of affection in general but as they say- you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. I can’t wait to hug my friends and family and just be around them without worrying about wearing a mask, washing my hands or anything like that.

Travelling

One of the main experiences I want post lockdown is travelling. I am really looking forward to travelling a lot more as soon as all this is over and it is safe to travel to other countries again. I even have an entire list of all the places I want to see ready!

Just Chilling

I cannot wait to be able to go out to just relax. Whether it’s to a restaurant, movie, coffee shop or just walking around downtown. I know that I can do that right now but I can’t wait till I can do that without having to put on a mask and avoid other people and keep a distance. Just being able to relax is something I am definitely looking forward to.

Taking the bus

I know a lot of people have a problem with taking the bus. Or don’t particularly enjoy the experience of taking the bus. I always did though- I thought it was peaceful and I particularly enjoyed longer bus rides because they gave me time to think and reflect. So, I haven’t taken the bus since the pandemic and honestly I kind of miss it.
This was such a fun collaboration and if you enjoyed this post do take a minute to go over to Naveesha’s blog, Twitter, and Instagram. She is a really great blogger and a lovely person to collaborate with. I know you won’t regret going over and checking out her posts.

Thoughts

What are some experiences you want post lockdown? Are there some things you really miss doing right now? What is one thing you realised you’ve been taking for granted all this time? Let me know in the comments below I would love to hear your thoughts.

  1. Very good thoughts on how life was before this happened, I so agree. Be safe. ❤️

    1. Thank you so much and stay safe too!

    2. This was very much enjoyed.
I do miss shopping and going about without the restrictions. I’m looking forward to the future being better.

      1. Thank you! I look forward to that too!

  2. I desperately want to work in a book store or coffee shop instead of my basement

    1. That sounds amazing! I really hope you can do that when all this is over.

  3. I agree with so many of these – especially going out to eat with friends and hugging. I’m not a hugger either, but now that we can’t do it I def miss it!!

    1. Right?!? Something about not being able to do it makes you want to do it more. I miss going out to eat with friends/family so much too!

  4. Nice list. I can’t wait to travel again, and I love going to the pub and pub culture.

    1. Thank you and hopefully we’ll be able to do those soon!

  5. I don’t get beauty treatments lol
I do miss hugs and restaurants 🙂

    1. Lol maybe you should get some just for fun when all this over! Yeah life is tough without restaurants and hugs!

      1. I also miss seeing my students in person
Maybe I will think about treatments but that is a big maybe haha

        1. I’m glad you will be able to see them soon at least

  6. I was nodding along all the while. I miss all of these too

    1. Yup it’s been a long few months!

  7. This was so fun to read! I finally got my eyebrows waxed and it was glorious. I also really miss going on the bus. I live close to NYC and I miss the bus ride there as well as getting there and doing something fun!

    1. Thank you! Hopefully we can ride on the bus soon!

Great post! One of the things I also miss is traveling. I miss packing the car and going to see other states outside of Kentucky. I do have to say that as much as I miss traveling I have really enjoyed being at home and really appreciating where I currently live❤ thank you for the post and I hope you have an amazing day😁

    1. I’ve enjoyed being at home but I do miss travelling as well- especially going on road trips! Thank you and hope you have an amazing day too!

  9. Other than international travel, we here in New Zealand have everything back to normal. Pubs, clubs, cafes, restaurants, cinemas, bookshops, sports venues, gyms, public transport etc are all as they were pre-pandemic. Our borders are closed though to international travel. We were very fortunate that our government closed the country down early, resulting in a total of only 22 deaths – all among the elderly. Admittedly that’s 22 deaths too many, but in relation to the rest of the world it’s an excellent figure. I hope you’re all staying safe where ever you are.

    1. Yeah compared to other places that’s not too bad. Still very sad of course. Thank you so much!

  10. I’m looking forward to traveling again. We were planning a trip to Ireland this year but canceled it because everything is kind of up in the air. I hope we all get back to our normals, I dont mind waiting a year or two for things to clear up.

    1. I was planning a lot of travel over summer too and I hope I can do it when all this is over. Hopefully this ends sooner than later!

  11. Wonderful post

    1. Thank you!

      1. You’re welcome my friend stay blessed

  12. I’m with you about the eating out, hugging and traveling! I have been saying that the first thing I’m going to do after lockdown is eat out!

    1. Me too- I am so looking forward to going out to eat!

  13. Ah, I miss attending a Christian fellowship! Also, my hair is starting grow longer I want to have a nice haircut and maybe some color change 💇❤️

    1. I’m actually am trying to grow my hair so this is the perfect time for that haha! Hopefully you can do all those things soon!

      1. I prefer mine above my shoulders because of our warm weather 😄 I hope I can have them cut soon, or else I may go chop my own hair! 😅

        1. Lol a lot of people seem to be chopping their own hair at home!

  14. Am too much of a huggie
I can’t wait to get hugs again

    1. Aww me too although I generally do not like hugs!

  15. Loved this collaboration. I miss sports mostly. Playing football and rugby

    1. Yeah I can imagine it’s tough to play any sports at the moment.

  16. I miss my holiday trips…. 😫 And also freely roaming inside the shops…. 😭Especially in Costco Supermarket, On Saturdays and sundays they will provide free samples of many foods….😜 My son is getting irritated inside home…. 🤯 That too a big problem…. He can’t play with his friends…. I am the one who is playing with him both indoors and outdoors…. 😣

    1. Aww hopefully all this ends soon and you can go on trips and shop in peace again!

    2. Totally understand! I’m very ready for my kids to be able to see their friends without me worrying about spreading germs

      1. Yeah friend…. All are waiting for those amazing days….

  17. I look forward to going to the bars with pals for a few glasses of cold white wine and a big catch up.

    1. That sounds like fun- hopefully you can do that soon!

  18. I miss watching live sport, hugging (and kissing) friends, spontaneity, travel

    1. I really miss spontaneity too- now we have to plan everything so much.

  19. Traveling – i hate the feeling of being limited to where I can go, I also just miss meeting a friend for a coffee and being able to be spontaneous

    1. Yeah I definitely agree with both. Hopefully we can travel and go out more soon!

  20. You are player also, good have a nice journey for your all activities.

    1. Thank you!

  21. Oh yes, I can’t wait to just chill outside. Maybe at a local Starbucks for the entire day. Without feeling like a criminal, that is.

    1. That would be amazing!

  22. Nice post! I miss travelling and trying out different cuisines 😇

    1. Yes I miss trying new food so much!!

  23. I know this post was about what you guys miss, but what stood out to me is the difference in personality. Neveesha seems like a Serena Van Der Woodsen and you seem like a Dan Humfrey! I miss traveling and eating out…

    1. Haha that’s true we are both quite different people and I loved that about the post- you get to see two perspectives!

  24. I totally miss hanging out with friends.
I also miss having to not sanitize every other second lol
But the pandemic also has brought with it some silver linings, maybe you could consider doing a post on that?

    1. Lol I have used more sanitizer in the last few months than I have in my life! Yeah that’s a great idea thanks!

  25. In fact, there are lot of things I can’t wait to experience after lock, beauty treatment and food inclusive. Interesting write up

    1. Thank you and we are looking forward to those too!

  26. This was such a fun post!! I’m completely with you on so many of these posts (especially the HUGS one). I think I’ve been taking for granted just being able to spend time outdoors without worrying about masks or social distancing etc and more than anything I’d love to go to the arcade with my boyfriend or have a games night with my friends. Thanks for sharing this post xxx

    1. I totally agree- I feel like all of us had taken that for granted and I think we will all be appreciating that freedom a lot more when this is over.

      1. Yes I’m with you! So at least some good had come from this in I think we will all be more appreciative (and hopefully kinder and more gentle on the environment).

  27. I think just getting back to a point where you do not have to be conscious of what you are doing all the time in case you pick up the virus would be nice. The removal of the constant tension.

    1. That would definitely be nice!

  28. I completely agree! Group meet-ups have been so weird for my friends and me in lockdown, we’ve been doing virtual pub quizzes instead but it’s not the same. Some of my friends went clubbing last week and they said that there is no dancing anymore even! These are very strange times.

    1. Yeah it’s super weird and kind of uncomfortable. I can’t wait to just hang out with friends and relax without being so paranoid.

  29. Love these! The little things are sooo appreciated once you are out of lockdown. You will appreciate friends more, family, little things like getting a beer or coffee at a pub or cafe (as you mentioned) and on and on. I know because I am out of lockdown and it is wonderful! Hang in there and keep looking ahead to better times!

    1. Yeah we definitely took those little things for granted. Thanks and I can’t wait to get out of the lockdown!

  30. Just chilling with friends! I have definitely taken that for granted, I wish I was a more outgoing person especially with my friends before I knew this was gonna happen. Now, a lot of them pushed through and graduated and I won’t see them again next school year and I will miss that. <3 This post gives me a lot of memories. Thanks for this, Pooja and Naveesha!

    1. I am an introvert so I definitely regret not being more outgoing or doing more stuff. Some international friends of mine are done with university and won’t be coming back so I’ll miss them too. Thank you!

  31. Can only speak for myself but I will value my freedoms more than I did before. Everything in life is a gift.

    1. I agree- especially the little ones!

  32. I think I’m going to appreicte my education and friends a LOT MORE after lockdown 😂 Yess I can’t wait to hug people too! Stay Positive Pooja! 🌷

    1. Haha I so agree!!

  33. I cannot wait to get back up on the silks! I’m sure I’ll struggle to climb and invert but I can’t wait to feel those silks wrapped around me again!

    1. Oh wow that sounds like so much fun! Hopefully you’ll get to do that soon!

  34. Going to the library to write is one of the things I miss. Sitting in a lovely space with a quiet hubbub of noise around, maybe a good cup of rooibos chat tea too.

    1. Yeah I really miss the library too. I spent a lot of time there.

  35. Dancing. I miss dancing. In a club, with a large group of friends. 🙂
    VVN

    1. Hopefully we’ll be dancing again soon!

  36. I miss people being kind, this has brought out such divide here in the U.S. (not like we weren’t already divided by Trump). The other thing is my piano group meeting in person instead of zoom, we have quite a few incredible pianists and it just doesn’t sound the same on zoom. Glad we have something though, and when it’s my turn to play I blame my mistakes on the slow internet 🙂 Of course, traveling is out for 2020 and can’t wait to safely travel again. Stay safe!

    1. Yeah the situation in the US seems very sad. Hopefully things will get better soon. Stay safe as well!

  37. sitting diown with a oint in one hand and an icecream in the other, wathing Nottinghamshire win a cricket game at Trent Bridge

    1. Haha that sounds just about perfect!

  38. This is a great post. Being a foodie myself, even i can’t wait to experience the delicious foods of the restaurants again. And travel is something that i admire a lot so i can’t to experience that too. Anyways stay safe Pooja. 😊😘

    1. Yes hopefully we can do all of those soon! Stay safe too!

      1. Yess hopefully. ☺️💯

  39. I agree with you, I miss being able to get together with friends to socialize. I’ve missed out on many birthday and anniversary celebrations etc. I’ve cancelled two planned trips which is heartbreaking as I also love to travel. My area is pretty good right now and I am cautiously optimistic. We are moving into stage 3 of reopening, as of July 17th, which means we can now go to restaurants (Patio’s only was stage 2) for a meal. Most businesses are reopening with limits of 50 people indoors with the exception of bars and similar areas where large groups congregate. Movies, gyms, parks, etc have also reopened. I am now out golfing again each week and getting together outdoors with the other ladies on my league then staying for drinks and a meal afterwards. It just feels so normal again. I do miss my weekly coffee group which was cancelled indefinitely but am hopeful that will soon resume as well. Life is getting better because my area was very cautious. Mandatory masks in all indoor buildings have allowed us to reopen sooner than later. Hang in there, it will get better.

    1. Yeah hopefully if everyone takes the safety measures seriously we can start going back to normal. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  40. Yes to all of these! I hope everyone is doing okay and hanging in there. For me, I’m adding concerts! Lol, I can’t wait to see some live music again.

    1. Yes I had two concerts planned this summer but obviously those didn’t happen.

  41. […] going to preface this by crediting the original post I saw from fellow bloggers, Pooja and Naveesha. Thanks for inspiring this […]

  42. Like you my eyebrow lady will not recognize me or my daughter. But can’t wait to see her again.

    1. Lol yes I feel like I’m going to look like a yeti soon!

      1. Me too 🤣🤣

  43. I REALLY miss ‘Just Chilling’. It’s been so long since I could sit in a coffee shop and browse on my laptop or read a book. As so many bloggers understand, you may feel the same I don’t know, often we are introverts, but that doesn’t mean we don’t like the quiet buzz of people! I miss being a part of the crowd, not necessarily visible, but watching it all play out. It’s magical.

    1. Yes I totally get how you feel! I miss the background people too and just enjoying spending some time relaxing outside.`

  44. I can relate to this post by you and Naveesha! I definitely cannot wait to just go out chilling without worrying about social distancing/wearing a mask. Like you, I am similar in the sense that I cannot wait to use the train again as I think its peaceful and a good time to gather your thoughts! I am going to heck out Naveesha’s blogs now!

  45. I just miss the sense of freedom, and not shying away from people when they get too close…
    But a pub is always good… 🙂

    1. Yes I miss that too- now we just keep a distance and go about our day.

      1. kind of sad…

  46. I really miss hugging people too! And I love getting the bus and train (as long as it’s not too crowded), I hadn’t even thought of that being something I’ve missed.

    1. Yeah I didn’t realise how much I enjoyed my bus ride every day till I couldn’t take it anymore.

  47. I miss ice cream and pizza so much and I can’t get them around here, it’s so heartbreaking but I understand there’s nothing I can do about the situation so I’ll just wait until everything is fine again🙁

    1. I miss pizza too- I’ve just been having frozen ones. Hopefully you can get some soon!

  48. I can so relate, Pooja! Human beings thrive on contact and connection. It is so hard to not be able to just hug all the people I want to like I used to.

    1. Yeah it’s definitely tough. Thanks for the comment!

  49. Interesting post😊💕🌸

    1. Thank you!

  50. I miss teaching my students in the classroom, face to face, without a mask! C

    1. Aww that’s really sad. Hopefully you can teach them without a mask sometime soon!

  51. I just wish I could step out of my house. Really miss those random outings. Just hope everything ends well soon. 🙂

    1. Yeah I really hope so too.

  52. justcalmwildness Avatar

I miss all those things too!! I also also just want to go back to school.

    1. Yeah I want to get back to university too!

  53. I miss staycations and shopping too! Can’t wait for this to pass.

    1. Yes can’t wait either!

  54. Many exciting things that I also wish to do! I would love to join you for a pub date in London. It’s been a dream of mine to travel there!

    1. I was supposed to travel to Europe this year over summer for like a month and live with an uncle in London for a bit but that did not work out lol… But yes we need to go to a pub in London someday!

      1. Aw that would’ve been amazing!! Hopefully next summer!

        1. Fingers crossed!

  55. I’m with you! I can’t wait for everything to be normal again

    1. Yes I honestly can not wait!

  56. Wow! It made me miss the sense of normalcy more than I already do. Haha. And yes, almost every week I check if the waxing salon would open in our area since I really need to get my eyebrows thread too haha or maybe it seemed a need before but makes me question my priorities now. Haha.

    1. Haha yeah I get the struggle for sure! Hopefully we can go back to normal soon.

  57. I agree with your post

  59. Just the opportunity to walk down the street and not have to run away when you see someone without a mask – what bliss!

    1. That is something I am really looking forward to as well!

  60. […] recently read a great blog post on a website I follow Lifesfinewine.com and it has inspired me to think about what I want once this pandemic panic is […]

  61. I’m really missing travelling.

    1. Yeah same here.

  62. Lockdown has seriously taught us to live without a lot of things. Even i had jotted down a list of to do things post lockdown which included joining the gym, learning how to drive, going on trips with my friends etc. This article reminded me of all my pending plans 🙂
I would really appreciate it if you could also go through my articles. #MyWordsKraft

    1. Thank you and will do!
