Advice For New Bloggers Continued

A while ago I wrote a post with advice for new bloggers. That post was strictly to help them stay careful, safe and to better understand blogging. You can read that advice for new bloggers post by clicking here.

I think when it comes to blogging there are some things you can only pick up on once you have been blogging for a while. And since I have been picking up on some stuff over the years I like sharing it with everyone. Especially newer bloggers.

A lot of times people seem to have this notion that doing stuff on the internet is easier than traditional work. Or that it’s a way to get rich quick. Although this is the case for very few people, the majority of people take a lot longer and have to work incredibly hard to grow their platform and actually do this full time.

On today’s advice for new bloggers post, I decided to share some do’s and don’t’s for new bloggers because as I mentioned there are some things that you do not really pick up until you have been blogging for a while. These are some things that will help you grow your blog, increase your following and traffic and also in general just make your whole blogging experience better- at least I hope it will! Here is my advice for new bloggers:

Do’s

Be Active

I think if you pick up one thing from this post let it be this- be active as much as you possibly can. Let me explain it a little better. There are two ways you can and in my opinion should be active on WordPress if you are trying to grow your blog.

The first way you need to be active is on your own blog. Make sure you are posting on a regular and scheduled basis. By regular and scheduled I don’t mean you have to post everyday although daily posting does have it’s benefits. What I mean is post as often as you can- maybe everyday, maybe every other day, maybe once a week or even once a month- just make sure you post it at the same time every day/week/month.

A lot of your followers probably follow multiple people and let’s be honest if you post at random times they are likely not going to see all your posts and most people will not go out of their way to see if you have posted something new recently. Therefore, posting at the same time or at least having some kind of schedule for each post makes a huge difference- it does not get you random followers/readers but rather loyal followers/readers. To find out how to schedule your post for maximum followers and traffic click here.

The next way to stay active is to be active on other blogs. I say this on almost every blogging advice post I make but blogging is a two way street and WordPress is a community that thrives on the support of one another. If you do not support other blogs you can not expect them to support you in the long run. I’m not saying comment on every single post ever created but notice who comments on your blog posts regularly and comment on theirs as well. Like the posts of other people. Most importantly, like and comment on posts that don’t already follow you as well- try to visit at least 5-20 new blogs a day depending on how much time you have.

Be Nice

I sort of can’t believe I need to specifically mention this. But to be honest I have gotten so much hate this year. So, I just wanted to talk about it a little. Just to put it in a short and simple way- if you don’t have anything nice to say than don’t say anything. There are thousands of blogs out there so if you come across one that you don’t like/agree with than simply don’t like the post, don’t follow the blog and if you are so offended by the content block them.

Leaving hate affects people a lot more than some people realise. And just going by my personal experience I just want to say you never know what is going on with the person in real life, how they are feeling, whether they suffer from certain mental health problems etc and your comment may truly effect them and their well being.

There is nothing wrong with leaving feedback- just remember to do it in a positive way without personally attacking the person. I would also recommend not doing it in the comments section as this can feel like an attack- instead reach out personally via email or social media. And please remember to be kind to one another.

Research Research RESEARCH

One thing I have picked up as a history major is to always do your research because research is the only way to truly learn. There is so much work that goes into creating a blog and so much more work that goes into actually running it.

One of the things I regret most when it comes to blogging is not doing enough research early on. Because now I have to keep going back and changing things. It is extremely time consuming and frustrating. I also did not take advantage of the features that WordPress offers and I so wish I had.

But don’t be like me- do your research. Figure out how to use everything, how to make your posts SEO friendly etc. And most importantly make sure you have a plan for what you want your blog to become in two years time. That way you’re not just putting out random posts for the sake of it. But rather are working towards a goal. If you are just blogging to put out random posts than definitely go for it. But if you want your blog to have a direction you may want to think ahead.

Make The Most Of Everything

Seriously, make the most of EVERYTHING. WordPress offers so many amazing features even on the free plan. And you should definitely take advantage of everything it offers. This is where the research part comes in again- know exactly what you are being offered so that you can take advantage of it and use it to grow your blog. If you use your features correctly your blog will grow so much faster.

Another things I would recommend making the most of is the WP community. We are so lucky to have a much more positive, interactive and genuine community compared to a lot of platforms and don’t let that go to waste. Interact with others, get to know fellow bloggers, talk to new people and make the most of your blogging experience.

Take Your Time

One advice I want to give new bloggers is that blogging is not a race or a make money quick scheme. I know it sounds a little corny but when it comes to blogging it’s more about the journey than the final destination. It takes time to grow your blog, to get to where you want to be when it comes to your followers and traffic count. It’s a lot of hard work and it takes a lot of patience, dedication, planning and enthusiasm. However at least in my opinion it is so worth the hard work.

I think a lot of people kind of think when they start out that they are going to grow immediately without having to put too much work into it. That they will instantly get at least a few hundred views and followers. I myself am guilty of believing my blog would grow faster than it did. But I quickly learnt that it does not work like that. You need to put out quality content, be active and work really hard.

Don’t’s

Leave Spam Comments

The reason I mentioned this first is because it seems like over the last few months there has been a large rise in the amount of spam comments that bloggers are leaving. I don’t know if it is just my blog but I do not remember getting these many spam like comments on my posts before.

There are a number of spam comments. Firstly, there the obvious spam that is not from another blogger but just left by random people on the internet. Immediately delete these and do not click on the links they leave as some of them are viruses.

The next kind of spam is something that annoys me the most. The blogger will leave a comment while completely ignoring your post. And will pretty much advertise their blog on your comments section. Unfortunately, I can’t find one of the screenshots I had taken but this person pretty much ignored my post and commented something along the lines of “Hi, I have a blog about blah blah blah please go check it out” and left a link to their blog.

Another things people will do is leave a very generic “Nice post. Go check out my blog.”, “Great post. Go follow, like and comment on my blog.” or something very similar to those two. The last thing I wanted to mention is probably the most shady spam comment. They basically leave a comment and sign their name (which there is nothing wrong with- the next part is the problem) and in this name they leave a do-follow or no-follow link. People basically use your posts to get free backlinks. If done in an ethical way they would be paying you between $5-$100.

My point is, don’t leave spam comments. One, because people are not stupid and know exactly what you’re doing. They may be polite to you but they know. Two, it’s just a mean thing to do because everyone I know puts a lot of work into their posts and to completely disregard their posts and instead try to get backlinks for your blog is just an awful thing to do. Three, it’s annoying and people will block you which means you will probably be losing more traffic and followers than you are getting. Four, leaving a genuine comment goes a long way. Instead of wasting time with spam comments why not just leave a genuine comment. Because most people are likely to respond. And they’ll likely go over to your blog if they enjoyed talking to you.

Bully People

Unfortunately, there are bullies everywhere and although I would argue that the majority of the people on WordPress are friendly and lovely people in general there are still some that are not. I remember reading a post a while ago where someone actually told the blogger that they were “selfish” for not supporting someones blog that supported their blog.

Yes, WordPress is a two way street but that does not mean that people have to support other people no matter what. Most of us have lives outside of WP and have things to do other than blogging and it’s just not possible to read every single post of every single person who likes and comments on your blog.

The lesson here is that don’t emotionally blackmail people or bully people into supporting your blog. If they want to support it they will and if they don’t want to they have every right not to. Also don’t support other people hoping for something in return- support others because you genuinely like their content.

Stop Being Passionate

It’s hard to come up with new ideas for posts all the time and writers block is quite common. A lot of people feel exhausted after a few weeks of regular blogging. Because like I said it can be very hard work. If you feel like you are running out of ideas for blogging than take a break. Don’t force it. Write when you are truly passionate and write about what you love. Because it honestly makes a huge difference and your readers will be able to tell the difference.

Give Up!

I wanted to end this post by saying DON’T GIVE UP! It takes time so be passionate and keep working hard. I know at times you will feel like what’s the point maybe I should just stop blogging but don’t. It’s so important to stay passionate because over time your blog will grow and eventually you will reach your goals!

Thoughts On Advice For New Bloggers

I hope you enjoyed this advice for new bloggers. And I want to apologise for the longer post. I actually got rid of a bunch of stuff while editing. But it still ended up being a bit longer than usual. I just had a lot to say. And I didn’t want to write a two part post of Do’s and Don’t’s separately.

What are your thoughts on my advice for new bloggers? What advice would you give to new bloggers? Have you ever received spam comments and if you have how do you deal with them? Have you noticed an increase in spam like comments? Are you a new blogger or an older blogger? What is one thing you would recommend that bloggers never do? Have you ever received hate comments and if so how did you deal with them? Let me know in the comments below because I would love to hear your thoughts. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. This is such wonderful information for new bloggers, Pooja, great! So well written, no need to apologise for the length of this article. Solid advice. 😊

    1. Thank you so much- I’m so glad you enjoyed the post!

  2. I think your advice is great, and it’s coming just at the right time for me. Of course I am still passionate about my blog, so that’s not a problem, but I haven’t posted for at least six weeks because of my work teaching English online. So my biggest challenge is remaining active and getting posts done on top of other work. When I get back from holiday, I will make time for it, phew! Greetings from the UK and thanks for sharing your blogging tips 🙂👍

    1. Thank you! Staying active is definitely a struggle and it took me quite a while to find a schedule that works well for me. Best of luck with being more active and thanks again!

  3. The one thing I can relate to most is the spam comments. I usually just delete them, but they can get really annoying sometimes. Also I’m against bullying and being mean to people. A lot of people are fighting secret battles so being nice to people is very important. Thank you so much for this post. It’s really helpful to me.

    1. Yeah I delete them too but I get so many every day it just gets so annoying. I absolutely agree- people have so much stuff going on that you don’t know about so be nice or move on. There is no need for hate or negativity.

      1. Absolutely no need. We need to always spread positivity and love

      2. Absolutely no need. We need to always spread positivity and love

        1. Yes exactly!

  4. Really useful information. You’ve surely done lot of work to come up with this writeup and it shows. What you say about WP being a two way street is very true. You cannot expect to receive likes and follows and comments without giving any. And it makes the whole blogging process enjoyable and insightful. You nailed it about the spam comments too and how us bloggers should have some integrity and not stoop so low to engage in cheap marketing on others’ blogs. And about not spreading hate is simply superb as there is absolutely no need to bring such negativities here. Am sure your tips are very effective to guidelines to many. Keep up the great work!

    1. Thank you so much and I’m so glad you agree with the post! Yes it is definitely a two way street and yes we should definitely market in an ethical manner.

  5. Very informative and great tips. Thank you for taking time to keep us informed. Be safe.

    1. Thank you so much- I’m glad you enjoyed the post. Stay safe as well!

  6. Your blog is helpful and very informative. Thanks for the solid advice. I started blogging a year and a half ago, but had stopped due to personal reasons. Now I’m just getting back into and your advice about not stopping is something I should have done.

    1. Thank you- I am so glad you are finding my blog helpful! All the best with getting back into blogging!

  7. I can not stand spam comments or check out my blog. That was one of the first things I learned before I started my blog. One thing that I had to do was stop taking myself so seriously and just have fun with my blogging. Thanks for taking time to write this, my daughter and I are definitely taking notes!

    1. I get so annoyed with spam comments too- it’s just so annoying and also extremely rude. I’m so glad you enjoyed the post and hope it helps you and your daughter!

  8. Thank you for this great post! I am trying to grow my blog & I find the info here extremely relevant.

    1. Thank you- I’m so glad you’re finding it helpful!

  9. Good advice. Don’t worry about hate comments from me – I love your blog!!!😁. I’m rather new to blogging, but am enjoying it. I also love the support from the WordPress community. Keep up the good work!!!

    1. Haha thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying that because I really do feel that for the most part the WP community is incredibly helpful and supportive.

  10. Older blogger here (started in 2005). These are all great tips! Nicely done!
I, too, loathe spam comments. I’ve been using Akismet to automatically deal with them. It’s pretty rare for one to soup through anymore.
One additional piece of advice I’d consider: focus. Have a solid idea of what your blog is, what you want it to be. Do you want to be a beauty/tech/lifestyle/etc booger? Or is this an online diary? Knowing what you want is very helpful.

    1. I am so glad you mentioned that because I actually wrote a section about having a five year plan and then edited out because the post was getting too long. I absolutely agree that you should consider what you want out of blogging and why you are starting it.
Spam comments are the worst and unfortunately a lot seem to be getting through Akismet these days on my blog. Thanks for the comment!

  12. Hey, the day I started this blog, I read some of your posts and they have been very helpful. Thanks for sharing this advice! 🙂

    1. I am so glad you are finding the information helpful!

  13. Thank you Pooja, this is helpful, I appreciate the advice from an experienced blogger! I’m trying to expand my followers and I think I can try reaching out to bloggers outside my community. Very grateful, C

    1. Thank you! Yes reaching out to bloggers outside your community really helps a lot- it’s probably the fastest way to grow your following.

  14. This is informative. Few minutes well spent. I’m glad you even overcame the anxiety that came with the awards.

    1. Thanks and I’m glad too!

  15. Great advice Pooja!

    1. Thank you so much!

      1. You are so welcome

  16. Very valuable and heart touching guidance.

    1. Thank you!

  17. I really love your advice and it came at the right time.

    1. Thank you and so glad to hear that!

  18. Very thoughtful and helpful. So right about the more you blog different insights surface. My take from you is to try to post at the same time of day and your insight about loyal connections resonated for me.

    1. Thank you! Yes scheduling and building connections is definitely important!

  19. This piece of content is really helpful. Thank you so much for sharing this 😃

    1. Thank you- so glad you found this helpful!

  20. Nice post! As usual very helpful for the newbie like me. About the spam comments, I too get a lot of them but surprisingly even if there is no spike in the visitor count in WP stats. I also have a request, you did mention WP has tools even for free plan users, can you pls share that info, I tried finding out myself but haven’t had any luck.

    1. There is not spike in the visitor count because they comment through the reader and for some reason that does not count as a visitor view. I meant features like the tags, categories, free images and gifs etc. Glad you found the post helpful!

      1. Ok, got it. Thanks

  21. Great stuff Pooj. You always give good advice and I should act on it more. I just never seem to get around to it. Life is too full – so I make the same mistakes. Never mind! I’m enjoying myself.

    1. Thank you! Honestly enjoying yourself is important too!

  22. Thanks fo this PoojaG

    1. Hope it helps!

      1. It definitely does

  23. Great advice! Post is well written and full of good information to think about. Keep up the good work.

    1. Thank you so much!

  24. I wish I did more research when I started my blog, like you said it is so very time consuming now to go back and put things in order.
Ohh—tell me about spam comments: I hate it so much.
Great advice Pooja, always a treat to read all your posts xx

    1. I wish I had as well- that is one thing I really regret. Omg spam comments are the worst- I try to delete them as much as possible but they’re just so annoying! Thank you!

  25. Great Advice. I am impressed that you chose to keep posting the awards despite the hate you got from it. Keep up the good work.

    1. Thank you so much! I realised over time that negative/hate comments have more to do with them than me or my content.

  26. Thanks for the amazing advice Pooja. They definitely are very helpful.🙂

    1. Thank you so much!

  27. Thank you sooo much ! I really needed

    1. Hope it helps!

  28. Thanks for this well thought out post to new comers. As a newbie myself, I find this immensely helpful and I’m more then confused about the hate you got over the award. My policy is is, if I don’t agree with a post or comment or whatever I move on without saying anything. Why spend the time on something I dislike when there is so much more content out there to enjoy. Anyway thanks for putting this out there, I really liked it.

    1. Thank you so much- I’m glad you thought the post was helpful! I was genuinely confused about the hate as well especially over such a petty thing as awards and it felt like the bloggers who left the hate was just looking for a way to attack someone and I happened to be their target. Either way I now understand that it had more to do with them than me. Thanks for the comment!

  29. Very helpful post☺️

  30. Thank you so much for this Pooja!!!!
    This information is very useful.

    1. I’m so glad you found it useful!!

  31. Another great post from you. I can confirm your advice on maintaining a posting schedule. Whatever works for bloggers is best but people do follow lots of blogs here and the most loyal followers know when youre posting and at what time. Thanks again for your insights.

    1. Thank you and I totally agree!!

  32. Like this advice, and I can certainly agree about the importance of being kind to other bloggers! Bloggers try very hard to write blogs and its understandable that you may not agree with whats been said in the blog all the time but sending hate comments can really dent someones confidence and make their mental health worse in some cases
    Thanks for sharing Pooja!

    1. Thank you! Yes, I agree because as someone with anxiety and depression you may not always see online what I am going through but these comments truly effected me. I don’t expect every follower I have to agree with every thing I say/write but honestly it’s not hard to just move on and not comment or if you’re that offended just unfollow the blog or block them.

      1. I have anxiety as well and I still try my best to write engaging and relatable blogs. I am always happy to receive constructive feedback on my posts and I am ok with people not agreeing with what I say or write but its when the comments get hurtful that when it can really trigger my anxiety

        1. Yeah I feel the same way.

        2. There’s definitely a reason between leaving constructive feedback and just hating on people.

  33. Informative 🙂🙂🙂

    1. Thank you!

  34. I couldn’t even imagine posting everyday, I applaud anyone who is able to be that consistent

    1. It’s definitely very difficult!

  35. Thank you so much pooja❤ your blog is very much informative. There’s so much to learn from your home. Wishing you a happy life🤗

    1. Thank you- I am so glad you find it informative! Wishing you the same!

  36. As a very new blogger I found your post to be extremely great advice! I am not entirely sure what I am doing and seeing this made me feel so much better about it. Thank you for taking the time to make this ❤❤ it was great.

    1. I am so glad to hear that!! And best of luck with your blogging journey!

        1. My pleasure!

  37. thank you so much, another super helpful post!

    1. It’s my pleasure- I’m just happy to help new bloggers!

  38. Great post Pooja! I can attest to the need of continuity and regular blogging. I went from once a week to four times a week and it made a HUGE difference.
One other thing that I’ve learned is to keep my ‘perfectionism’ in check. ugh…I can spend days editing and changing if allowed…with blogging you can’t do that. it needs to get out there. Now that’s not saying I don’t edit but I don’t go crazy and if later I see a grammatical error I let it go…
    Keep writing.

    1. Thank you! Yes regular blogging definitely makes a huge difference. I can so relate with that because I am such a perfectionist and I would keep editing my post numerous times every day but now I edit it once and schedule it.

  39. Thank you for this post. I really appreciate it,especially the part about not giving up.

    1. So glad you enjoyed the post!

  40. this right here was valuable.

    1. Thank you!

  41. New blogger (making a year in a few days). I liked your input on all this. I think what resounded most was to be kind and it takes time. On this one I’d like to add, that the growth trajectory is not the same for every blog. Some have quick growth and that just might not be your journey. And that’s OK.
Advice I’d give – don’t look at the numbers especially if the numbers don’t correlate with the interaction. It’s easy to get swept up in having 1000 followers when only a tenth of that value your content. Also, remember your why! Why did you start the blog and what did you hope to gain from it.
I’m still learning these as well.

    1. Thanks! I absolutely agree- everyone’s journey is different and their growth rate is different. Some grow very fast while others take a while. And yes obsessing over stats really does not help anyone.

  42. I’ve noticed the spam too. One or two a week which doesn’t sound like a lot but my blog is pretty small so that’s a high percentage of my comments, haha.

    1. One or two is still quite annoying. I get about 5-10 a day and sometimes I get so irritated I kind of want to reply and ask why they think spamming peoples comments section is okay.

  43. I really enjoyed this post. I wish I would have known a lot of this before I started blogging! Hopefully this helps new bloggers on their journey!

    1. Thanks! I wish I had read a post like this when I started too so I decided to make one in the hopes that it will help new bloggers.

  44. I started blogging only a few months ago and this blog of yours has answered every question I ever had. A very useful read!💕

    1. I am so glad to hear that!

  45. Thank you for the great post! I remember I used to get lots of spams!

    1. Thank you! Yes unfortunately it’s quite common.

  46. Wow very helpful, thanks for this!

  47. Thank you for the advice. I’m back to blogging after taking a hiatus because I had absolutely nothing to say.

    1. That happens sometimes but I’m glad you decided to start blogging again!

  48. haha all the spam comments I get are super strange. this is really good advice; idk if i count as a “new” blogger if I’ve been blogging for 5 months, but I can relate to a lot of this

    1. Some spam comments are definitely very weird. Thank you and I’m glad you could still relate!

  49. These tips are so helpful. Thank you!

    1. Thank you so much!

  50. One thing I would advise new bloggers is to give yourself permission to try different ideas.
    Spam comments I delete.

    1. Yes that’s a really good one! I think it’s a good idea to explore different ideas and try new things.

  51. […] Advice For New Bloggers #2 — Lifesfinewhine […]

  52. great advice; my favorite is “Be Nice”…

    1. Yup it’s definitely important to be nice to one another!

  53. Useful and helpful posts for new bloggers. Impactful information

    1. Thank you so much!

      1. My Pleasure 💕

  54. I haven’t been able to come up with anything solid the past few days and I’ve been beating myself up about it, seeing the Don’t Stop Being Passionate has calmed me down a little. Best I write something that I’m into than write something just because. Thanks for sharing.
I cannot believe you got hate for your awards post and I’m so glad you still do them, despite it. It’s a great way to get to know more about you and your blog, I hate unnecessary opinions. Ah, so sorry you had to go through that.

    1. I am so glad that part made you feel better. I totally agree that you would rather write something you want to write rather than forcing yourself for the sake of putting out content.
Yeah I found it to be such a weird thing to hate on someone about and it kind of really caught me off guard. I agree that it’s a great way to interact and get to know the blogger but this person refused to accept that there could be more to awards than just networking. Either way I have learnt from the incident that hate has more to do with them then me and now I just ignore/delete hate comments.

    1. Thank you!

  55. Really helpful for people like me… Thanks, thumbs up

    1. Thank you so glad you found it helpful!

  56. Great advice, Pooja. Worthy of note!. ❤

    1. Thank you so much!

  57. Great post, Pooja, insightful and informative. I’ve never had too much spam, just the usual “Love your blog. Check mine out.” Aarrgghhh.
I’d advise new bloggers to engage with the blogging community as, like you said, it’s a two-way street. And I’d say “never steal other bloggers work and post it as your own.” If you want to reblog a post that you enjoyed, at least give credit to the original writer.

    1. Thank you so much! I get so much spam it becomes a nightmare sometimes.
I absolutely agree and yes never steal work! I have had people steal entire posts, post ideas or parts of posts and it’s just so horrible. Definitely be original or like you said reblog or give the writer credit.

      1. I guess that comes with such a successful blog and 18,000 followers 😉
I’ve had a whole post pinched together with parts – like you. And yes, it is horrible!
Look after yourself my lovely x

        1. Thank you and take care of yourself too!

      2. Hey Pooja, have you heard anything of Debby lately? I haven’t heard from her for almost a month now, after I paid a large sum of money via paypal. I have been really worried and have written to her many times but got no response. Now I’m getting annoyed 🙁

        1. Wow that’s horrible I am so sorry to hear that. When was the last time she contacted you? I had finished working with her some time ago and have not talked to her for the last few weeks. Please let me know if you still don’t hear from her and I will be happy to email her as well and try to find out what’s going on.

          1. Hi Pooja, sorry to bother you, it’s just I know she’d worked with you too. After I paid her up front on 21st July, I got an email from her telling me what she’ll be doing on 5th August. As I said, I’m concerned that I’ve not had a response to any of my emails? Something must be wrong? x

            1. It’s not a bother at all. I would be concerned as well. I checked her blog and it seems she has been inactive since 22nd July. Would you like me to email her and see if she responds? I would be more than happy to do so.

              1. Thank you Pooja, yes, please do, I really appreciate it. It’s not like her 🙁

                1. Yeah it’s very odd of her not to reply. I’ll email her and let you know if she responds.

                  1. Thank you. I hope first that she’s okay. Then, that she’ll continue with what I’ve paid quite a lot of money for. I appreciate this Pooja. ❤️

                    1. I hope so too because it’s very odd that she didn’t reply- she usually replies quite fast. I truly hope you can get the work done for your blog too. You’re totally welcome I’m happy to help!

  58. Awesome post girl! 💯💯💯💯💯

    1. Thank you so much!!

      1. Your’e welcome 😄😄😄

  59. Thanks for this post and your others on posting for Newbies😃
No problems with long posts if they are informative. I would rather read a long post that l learn something from than many un-informative ones
    Thanks

    1. Thank you and I am so glad you found it informative!

  60. Really very informative, thank u 😊

    1. Thank you- I’m glad you found it informative!

  61. Hi here can I share your post

    1. Yes you absolutely can!

  62. I loved this post- such great advice. I’m basically taking all the free blogging advice I can find haha!

    1. Thank you- free advice is the best lol!

  63. Thanks again for the encouragement. I feel like I still enjoy writing my blog and do a very thorough job researching my posts. What I’m doing terribly at is visiting other blogs and online communities with similar themes. Every week I say I’ve got to find time for that, but it just falls to the back of the todo pile. I appreciate the solid metrics you’ve recommended, 5 to 20 blogs per day, even though it seems like an impossible feat for me right now.

    1. Thank you! Yes it does definitely get difficult but it is also the fastest way to grow your blog. Don’t pressure yourself too much and visit as many blogs as you can!

  64. This was such a great post! I am not sure why some people think its okay to be internet bullies but thats on them. I loved how you ended it as well. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you so much! Yeah the hate definitely says a lot about who they are as people. Glad you enjoyed the post!

      1. I can’t imagine getting online and just talking down on someone.

        1. I know it ridiculous. If you feel the need to tear other people down you really need to reevaluate your life.

  65. This was an awesome post. I just started my blog yesterday and I will be referring back to this often. Thank you so much!

    1. I’m so glad you found it helpful and best of luck with your blog!

  66. Its important to take breaks!! When i was tired of blogging. I was so close to quitting..luckily i felt like i got hyped again and know now to take breaks so i dont stop loving blogging. Its not something to force 😁 actually maybe nothing is meant to be forced 🤗

    1. Yes breaks are extremely important otherwise like you said you will end up hating it and quitting!

  67. These are great advice, Pooja that are quite helpful to all bloggers. I particularly like your advice about internet bullies and trolls. They are quite common and they seem to appear when your blog begins to grow. Keep up the great work that you are doing.

    1. Thank you so much! Yes, trolls and bullies are unfortunately a part of the internet experience.

  68. Thanks for these tips! I have been blogging for quiet sometime but haven’t really engaged myself into the community. I wanted to grow my followers but don’t know why. I guess this time, I will do mt best to be more active and make my blog more alive so I can inspire more people to visit my site as well. 🙂

    1. Yes, being active definitely helps and engaging with other bloggers is probably the best way to increase your following!

  69. Thanks for the blogging advice. Following you as been the best thing for me since I started blogging as your posts as been sincerely helpful. I wasn’t able to post on my blog as scheduled recently because I had an exam(but your advice on taking a break when you need to, gave me a relief). Your advice are really helpful.
    Thankyou Pooja.😊

    1. Thank you! I am so glad you have been finding my advice helpful. Taking a break really does help and you end up coming back more prepared and enthusiastic about blogging.

  70. Thank you for the great advice! I have been struggling a bit in the past few months, primarily because of time constraints, but you inspire me to keep writing. You are appreciated.

    1. Thank you so much and I’m sorry you’ve been struggling with that but hopefully you will find a schedule that works best for you.

  71. […] Advice For New Bloggers #2 […]

  72. Blogging advice from Pooja comment:
Don’t give up us a great piece of advice. When we humans start out at anything we can be disappointed when there isn’t immediately visible progress. Blogging is about the journey, the wonderful people we meet along the way, and the great opportunities to learn about so many different things blogging provides!
My one piece of advice when starting out (which I still consider myself to be in the phase of!) is to read comments and think deeply about them. If someone has taken the time to read and leave a legitimate comment I feel really chuffed and want to give that comment a bit of time to sink in. We don’t necessarily have to respond to every one – and as you say we won’t have the time to! – but we can read them.
Thank you for sharing more of your your learnings. 😊

    1. Thank you and I totally agree blogging is all about the journey and meeting amazing people, getting your writing out there etc.
That’s so true- comments are crucial and it’s such an honour when someone chooses to comment on your post so you definitely should take the time to respond or at least digest what they have said.

  73. Still trying to figure out how WP works so thank you that’s so helpful 🙂

    1. Glad to hear that!

  74. This is really helpful! Thank you!

    1. So glad you found it helpful!

      1. I really enjoyed your content, and wondered if I could connect with you to learn more about blogging? If that is possible, that is and available.

        1. Yeah definitely feel free to reach out!

  75. Great Advice and I found it very helpful.
    Keep Going 🙂

    1. Thank you so much!

      1. You are welcome 😊

  76. A very well thought about article. I appreciate the insights that you passed onto your readers. Best of Luck Always!

    1. Thank you so much!

  77. Thanks for all the advice! It’s inspiring to read these articles, they make me want to start writing more straight away 🙂
I did get a bit confused when the headers started to say ‘Give up’ ‘n such, but that’s just my sloppy reading…
Anyway, definitely gonna read some more of your stuff, keep up the good work!

    1. Thank you and glad you enjoyed the post!

  78. Thank you so much for this wonderful post. It is helpful for me as a new blogger.

    1. I’m so glad you found it helpful!

  79. I am really new to Blogging. So Thank you so much. It was really helpful! ❤

  80. Great post. Go like and follow my blog! Just kidding! These are all great reminders. I am a “born again” blogger…all refreshed and renewed and with zippy followers. But that’s ok, I do remember it being a process and for me, at this point in my life, it’s ALL about the process and the creativity in putting together something that I love. If it reaches someone else, great. Well, I mean…that’s kind of the point to blogging so I don’t want to minimize how much effort it takes (to reach peopole_ because it does take…a lot. But, well…I just hope that in the process of all the process, that everyone remembers to enjoy the time spent writing, sharing, etc. Many thanks for all your wonderful posts. I just found your site today but I’m sure I’ll be back!

  81. Good advice 👍

  82. Thank you so much for providing such types of blogs as it helped me a lot because I am new to the blogging field and I hope you will keep providing such content later.

  83. I really like your article series on the Do’s and Don’ts of Blogging (especially when starting). I appreciate hearing suggestions from someone who has been blogging for some time. Thanks, again! -Kyra 🌸

  84. You have some great advice, thank you!

    1. Thank you so much!

  85. Pooja I love reading your posts. I launched my blog in 2013 and tbh my inconsistency has made things slower. It’s refreshing to read about how important it is to put in. the work. Like you said it’s all about the journey not the destination. I look forward to doing better this year.

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, inconsistency does slow the progress of the blog but it’s also not always possible to blog consistently. And it’s okay if that happens. It’s definitely more about the destination. I wish you all the best this year and hope you achieve your blogging goals.

      1. Thank you. I appreciate your kind words. 💚

        1. You’re very welcome 😊
