I Did A Dumb Thing

So you guys know how all my classes are online now? Well it finally happened- I did that cliché, dumb online classes thing where I left my mic on without realizing it and said something kind of embarrassing in the background 🙃

I don’t care that much since it’s my last semester and I’ll probably (hopefully) never see any of these people again after this semester but I’m still going to be extremely careful from now on. Life goes on I guess? Aren’t online classes just super great though?

On a lighter note one of my professors told me my write-up this week was “quite good” which I know doesn’t sound like a big deal but it kind of is. He is super nice and sweet but he’s also a very strict marker and I’ve had him for multiple courses and I’m pretty sure this is the first time he’s said this about something I wrote! I’m like genuinely happy and now I want to work even harder on next weeks!

    Glad things are going well. I think they are getting used to things being said with forgotten mic’s 😀 If you didn’t get reprimanded then it likely was not noticed 🙂 Mine was not really in University….but my first crush in High School, sort of a date….slipped on the stairs at Woolworths and ended up sliding down on my behind down several stairs. Definitely not the impression I had wanted to make 😀

    😂😂 A similar thing happened to me only that in my case, my flatmate was having a class and her mic was on. Obviously I didn’t know that and I was singing really loudly from my room. Her whole class heard me sin heartbreak songs 😂😂 so embarassing.

    Haha, trust me, I’ve had funnier experiences with online classes. I took this chem class once and someone had their mic on. This person was literally yawning and saying how boring the class was, lol. This went on for a long time when the professor finally kicked him out of the meeting 😂

    I haven’t had one of those moments when I did my first online semester last August to December but I imagine the horror if that had happened hahahaha Online classes were okay for me, quite difficult during the last days, but my grades are all up and they were all unbelievably high scores, it kind of worries me as it doesn’t really mounts up to the things that I have learned. I think it’s one thing about online classes, it kind of sacrifices the quality of education in our country. huhu Thank you for sharing, Pooja! I’m sure you’ll do great on your last sem!! xx

    Could have been worse, I did it in a meeting a couple of years ago at which senior management were present and what I let slip was something particularly derogatory about management and their time wasting meetings. Got me noticed in a way I didn’t want. But oh well you have be philosophical about these things and just go with it. Needless to say I don’t think I have ever forgotten to mute a mic since. To learn the lesson while still at uni is a good thing. 😉

    Ok, last month I heard about a US journalist getting into trouble for forgetting he was on a zoom call and going to masturbate in the corner whilst in full view of everyone. So, you know…I’m sure they’ll be understanding of your mistake! 😃

    I have to say I’m glad I’m not working/studying during this whole thing and having similar zoom interactions…because I would definitely do something similar too! Lol. (Leaving the mic on, not the other thing!! 🤣🤮).

    Yup I see these incidents quite a lot😂 and has happened with me too. I didn’t realize that my mic is on when we were busy with classwork and after completing my work I suddenly started to sing ‘let it go’. Then I got a message from my bestie 😂 It was really embarrassing and funny too😁

    Yes, I’ve noticed several times that a finished call is not really finished since the mic is still on and the other side can still hear. Sometimes we really want to curse right after a zoom session or a call. Seriously. Cursing is very important to our psychological well being sometimes. Well, this is life and we are all lovely flawed beings.

    Well we have to know what you said! And yes, when I was like 10, I went to hold my dad’s hand because we were in Washington DC and I didn’t want to get lost. It wasn’t for about three minutes when, at the exact same time, the Japanese tourist whose hand I was holding and I recognized what was happening!

    Haha I feel like I always have an embarrassing story to share when you write about one! Once I was ‘doing class in bed’ (camera off ofc!) and I fell asleep, five mins after the end of the lesson I wake up because I can hear my teacher shouting my name and asking if I had any questions because I was the last one left – I was so flustered I just shouted “BYE” and hung up 🤦‍♀️

    Ah yes, in online class is definitely something that I wouldn’t say that the majority of us students had enough time to prepare for. Before the lockdown I had already taken 3 online classes and feel that really helped me, although I along with many other students didn’t expect to take all classes online within the next few semesters.

    Ever since I started working remotely, I’ve been extra careful when I’m a meeting or close to entering one. A colleague once jumped on a group call without his shirt on and everyone could see 😵

    I have tourettes where I tic when I’m excited nervous… I make loud hiccup sounding noises, just 1 now and again. I was in a lecture of 400 people and the lecturer kept asking if there was a bird in the room….everyone was looking at me an laughing. Luckily I was confident enough to take it. This happened every lecture for a month!

    In my university, I was praying prank on my classmate by hiding her note book when she was not paying attention. I was careful to not let my friend notice but forgot we also have a professor in the class. He caught me up and said something funny about me and whole class was laughing at me by the end. Itz awkward but the prof was a good one…

    I haven’t had these sort of experience but I remember going mad over my family. There are kids crying in the background. People fighting I mean I used to be scared to unmute myself thank god online classes will end soon and your posts are so well 💕

    Had my identity stolen entering an insecure chat room, and lost EVERYTHING. Here I am, already an educator, and far too old to be so naïve, but…TADA! So I guess it’s true, you’re never too old to learn! On the subject of emails and “reply to all” very few of us have NOT had to live through that. Chin up, this too shall pass! Hugs! 😉

    Yay! She’s back!!! Great to hear/see you again! I have had mostly dogs barking in the background when I’m on a zoom parent meeting. Either that or children fighting. Let’s just say it “Mother of the Year!!!”
