Blogger Interview With Alexandra

Blogger Interview

I want to thank Alexandra for being a part of this interview and she has such an amazing blog I would love it if you guys took some time to check it out -as always it’s linked below.

1. Thank you so much for being a part of this interview. Please tell us a little about yourself and your blog.

Thank you for including me and my blog! Hm. How do I answer that? Well, I’m a single mom of two young children in my 40s, who is a writer and journalist, and I work full-time doing public relations. I grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio and lived in NYC for most of my adult life. I’ve had basically every job under the sun, from being a professional actress and comedienne for seven years in NYC to working as a research assistant at Mass General Hospital and pursuing a medical degree. I have a Peter Pan complex, hate growing up, but I have to anyway. I like to make people laugh and feel something, which is why I started blogging. My blog is about being human, parenting, and introspection. It’s about being honest with yourself and this crazy world around us. It’s about getting through it, one day at a time, and some days are funny and some are sad.

2. When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging when my children were babies in 2010. I had a popular mommy blog back then called Crybabysoup, but I deleted it when I got divorced. I felt I didn’t want to put myself “out there” for criticism, because I was not in a good headspace. I started blogging again about a year ago. I like to write, and I like to perform, and this is a way of performing and writing at the same time. I like to interact with my readers, and to read and hear comments, and to read other writers’ blogs. I  also just completed a first draft of a novel, and I hope my readers from the blog will read the book as well and maybe help it to get published! The blog is a wonderful platform for your work.

3. How has blogging changed your life?

Blogging has changed my life in that I share my blog on my social media, and more people that I would expect read it and seem to know about my life in my small town. I think it’s made people relate to me and feel like they know me, even if they don’t. It’s kind of nice. I have always looked like that “girl you went to camp with,” and so people warm up to me quickly, as if they already know me. The blog has increased that.

4. As a parent how do you find the time to juggle kids and writing? Are there any tips you could give to other parents out there?

It is hard to write, work full-time, and parent, especially as a single parent! But, I make time for it. I have to. The blogging, to me, is a lot easier than writing my book. It is more freeflow and I typically write when I’m inspired. Sometimes, I feel bad that I haven’t posted in a week, and I feel like I’m disappointing my followers. Though, there are not too many yet (haha!), so not sure anyone even cares!!

5. When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I have always been a writer, ever since I was little. I wrote plays when I was young, and I turned Judy Blume’s Superfudge into a play. I was 8 years-old.

6. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

I love the reactions I get from people. I love to make people think, respond, laugh, cry, and relate.

7. Tell us a little bit about your books.

I just finished the first draft of a novel, Friends with Boats, which I hope to publish in 2021 or 2022. It’s about three women living on Cape Cod, who end up dating the same man. It makes them take a look at their marriages and lives, and you can read what happens!! It’s women’s fiction and it’s kind of like a beach read. Stay tuned.

8. What is your favourite part about being a writer?

My favorite part about being a writer is that I can entertain others while being safe at home. I love words. I love grammar. I love putting them together to communicate. I love that as a writer, your career never ends. You can age out of being an actress; you can never age out of being a writer. Writing also is something that lasts forever. You can make a difference.

9. What’s your favourite food?

Pizza and sushi.

10. What is one of your favourite hobbies apart from blogging?

Running and watching Reality TV (haha!)

11. Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

Hm…I hope to have two or three books published with a book deal from a publisher on the way! I also hope to have a good job and be happy with my kids and my life! I hope to be married again too, to my wonderful boyfriend!
