Blogger Interview With Susi

Blogger Interview

I want to thank Susi for this wonderful interview and she has an incredible blog so do take a minute to stop by and check it out- it’s linked below!

1. Thank you so much for being part of this interview. Please tell us a little about yourself and what your blog is about.

Maybe the best way to tell you a little about myself is by sharing my bio – Susi Bocks, writer/author/poet, has self-published two books – Feeling Human and Every Day I Pause and is the Editor of The Short of It. You can find her work at IWriteHer.com, where she invites you to read her thoughts to get to know her. You can also follow I Write Her on Facebook. Bocks’ has works published in the anthologies As The World BurnsSMITTEN: This Is What Love Looks Like: Poetry by Women for Women and in VitaBrevisSpillwordsLiterary Yard, and other literary magazines.

My blog is the place where I share my feelings, my observations, and more about myself. I do this primarily through poetry but also in stories and other writings. I’m an avid reader and frequently share pieces that have resonated or their writing has impressed me.

2. What inspired you to start a blog?

I posted this a while ago which explains the drive to write. https://iwriteher.com/2018/09/11/intent/  I’ll add that in my late 40s, the “who” that inspired me to blog was a young man who helped me realize that I needed to write. He was only 26 years old but the most engaged individual I’d run across. His energy was infectious. Shortly after meeting him, I started my first blog – Susi’s Soap Box. A few years after that, came PhiloSusi. This blog is where I drifted into poetry and the rest is history.

3. What is your favourite part about being a writer?

What I love the most is the freedom to create but reading and reflecting is a big part of what fuels my creativity and direction. I enjoy being inspired by visuals and other’s thoughts because it helps me understand my own feelings about the subject matter.

4. How has blogging changed your life?

How hasn’t it changed my life? lol I am very fortunate that I can devote my days fully to what I love doing, this alone has made the greatest impact on me. My well-being and peace of mind got a much-needed boost when I finally figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up. The bonus is that it’s given me more confidence in my abilities as a writer.

5. What are some of your pet peeves about blogging?

My biggest pet peeves are the glitches related to blogging that I’ve experienced – likes and comments disappearing, blogs I follow drop off the reader link, or somehow WP changes the subscription I’d chosen to follow, sometimes not delivering them at all.

6. What are some of your long term writing goals?

I do think another book is in my future, poetry for sure, but writing my 5 Day Tales every month has piqued my interest in writing a full-length story. The anthology I’m working on right now is the fruition of another long-term goal. My intention with The Short of It was not only to feature poets/writers every week on I Write Her but to turn their contributions into a printed publication. Every other year, I’ll be featuring their work, and then each following year, an anthology will be produced.

7. What’s your favourite food?

There are so many, it’s hard to choose. Let’s just say I love food, all of it. lol

8. Where would you love to travel to?

Any white or pink sand beach with blue water and loads of palm trees. And not just travel to it but stay there forever!

9. What is your favourite movie?

I have quite a few favorites of those too but off the top of my head – Dirty Dancing, In America, Soldier Blue.
