I am so happy to share this interview with Jes– hope you guys enjoy reading it and I hope you take a minute to check out Jes’s blog
1. Thanks so much for being a part of this interview. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what your blog is about.
Hi Pooja, thanks for the opportunity. I am from Mumbai and I work in the finance sector. I live life to the fullest. I love to push my limits and get out of my comfort zone. I have done all sorts of adventure activities like paragliding in Turkey, skydive & bunjee jump in south Africa. I have in fact written detailed blogs on all of these.
2. When did you start your blog and what made you decide to start blogging?
I have always been passionate about travelling and would plan my trips on a budget. My friends and family insisted that I start penning down my travel hacks which in turn led to the advent of my blog www.touristtotravellers.com
I mainly focus on hotel reviews/ staycations and travel guides.
3. What are some of your long term blogging goals?
For 2 years I wrote about travel and my experiences in general. Of late with the pandemic, I got an opportunity to spend some time learning about SEO. I intend to write more about what people are looking for such as day trips from a particular place, things to do in a particular place etc
I hope the blog reaches more people over the next few years and that they can make use of the travel tips.
4. Between working, travelling and life how do you find the time to blog and what advice would you give bloggers who are struggling with time management?
Time management can be tricky. I recently delivered a baby girl and finding time to blog and balancing personal life is difficult. If you are passionate about something, then you can definitely make time. They say “If it’s important you will find a way, if not then you will find an excuse”
Also, a lot depends on your support system, my family is supportive of my dreams and they allow me a lot of space to pursue my passions. So always feel free to ask your family to step in. If you are starting out, I suggest you learn about SEO first before you start writing i.e if you want to monetize your blog in the future.
5. What is your favourite thing about travelling?
It is said that “the journey is more beautiful than the destination” and rightly so. In my case, I love planning the trip. Right from picking a destination to going through various trip advisor forums to reading up numerous blogs jotting down to do list of things to cover. I love the whole process. Of course, the exhilaration on reaching the destination, trying different cuisines, getting lost in the beauty of nature or absorbed in the history is all very exciting.
6. What has been your favourite place to visit so far?
My favorite place/ country is hands down Turkey. It has something to offer every type of traveler, Right from enriching history to lip smacking food (they too use a lot of spices similar to India), to vast shopping options, Turkey has it all!
7. What is your favourite food?
I am a foodie so I love almost everything 😊 But if I have to point one out then it will be green thai curry.
8. What are some of the places on your travel bucket list?
I have been envisioning myself roaming the streets of Morocco since a while now and cannot wait to explore that country. Back home in India, I really want to travel to Munnar or Ooty soon.
9. What is one really crazy thing you believed as a child?
As I child, I always saw things with a rose-tinted glass. I always thought that life is easy and simple. Growing up now I see that one must take things with a pinch of salt.
10. Thanks again and please feel free to add anything you would like to share with the readers.
I have been following your blog and stories since the past 2 years and always loved reading them. You have come a long way and am extremely glad that you gave me an opportunity to come and speak on your platform. Looking forward to reading more of your blogs and staying connected with you.
Also, I would just like to say that life is short so live it to the fullest, Don’t have regrets. Go for that trip if you want to (office will always be there), spend some time with your kids (they grow up fast), learn that hobby that you have been planning since a while. Most importantly, be happy!
