Blogger Interview With Sapna

Blogger Interview

I really hope you guys enjoy this interview with Sapna and I hope you take some time to check out her amazing blog which will be linked below!

1. Thanks so much for being a part of this interview. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what your blog is about.
Thank you so much for including me Pooja. My name is Sapna, I am a nutritionist turned food blogger. I have two adorable little girls and an amazing husband who I use as my guinea pigs for all of my recipes. Our family loves congregating around the kitchen- be it for after school snacks, everyday meals, or even a party to prep and host. I enjoy developing dishes that are family friendly, easy to make, include a variety of rainbows, and are packed with flavor. One of my favorite things in the world is a rainbow and that has given me appreciation for all colors. This reflects in my life as I eat in color, I live in color, and I try to show that in my food.
2. When did you start your blog and what made you decide to start blogging?
As I became a mother myself, it was even more important that I share healthy recipes and a passion for a diversity of foods in my children. My blog reflects this and almost every recipe has a story behind it. It’s my way of inviting you to my kitchen table and having a conversation with you over a cup of chai (or coffee).
3. What are some of your long term blogging goals?
My oldest has asked me to publish my recipes for her so my first and foremost goal is to do this for her.
4. Your blog is about food which makes me love it instantly! What inspired you to start cooking?
My Mother and Grandmother. I grew up seeing my Mom and Grandmother whipping up multiple Indian dishes on a moment’s notice and never ever letting anyone leave our house hungry. I think I’ve inherited the passion, the love they have for feeding others and that is what inspired me to start exploring, experimenting, and creating my own recipes.
5. How do you find time to blog while being a parent?
I usually wake up around 3:30-4am and start working on the admin part of the blog until about 7am when I have to wake up the kids and put on the Mom hat. Lucky for me, during the day I am still able to work on the blog by creating and testing recipes in the kitchen. The best part is that my girls recognize my work and sometimes tell me to take pictures of their plates to put on my blog. I love their enthusiasm and support towards my work and the blog. Every morning, as I tell them to have a good day at school, they tell me to have a good day with my blog. I’m pretty lucky with my kiddos.
6. What are some tips you would give to people looking to start a food blog?
Make it about you and your love of food. Start the blog as a hobby without any expectations but to have fun (this is what I did – it takes off a lot of pressure). Don’t tailor your foods to other people’s tastes but instead, share your passion and favorite flavors with the world. Who knows, the world might just discover that is what was missing from their kitchen!
7. What is your favourite food?
Fruit – Mangos – Even my kids don’t get in the way of my mango love anymore!
Dessert – Tiramisu
Meal – A Cheese Board and my mom’s Pav Bhaji
Drink – Chai and Red Wine
8. Where would you love to travel to?
Italy and Ireland
9. Favourite movie?
Any of the Marvel movies – I’m a sucker for them
10. Thanks again and please feel free to add anything you would like to share with the readers.
This was fun! Thank you! For all the readers out there, if you are looking for easy to make and fun recipes, come check out my blog and spend some time in my kitchen. I’ve got some great fusion recipes as well as the traditional without the hassle. Just let me grab my chai and I would love to talk about food!

  3. “Chai and Red Wine”. That sounds so flavorful. I wonder how it taste like. I’ve never thought of combining wine with tea (or chai). LOL. How creative. Also I love mango and can’t have enough of it, although I have to be very careful of the calories. LOL.

    1. Lol that was new to me too but now I kind of want to try it now😜 I’m slightly allergic to mangoes so I can’t have more than a bite or two of them.

    2. LOL oh the confusion! I love it. I meant my favorite drinks are chai and red wine but separately! Hehehe. Chai for the mornings, Wine for the evenings. Though now I’m curious how the two would blend. =/

I was surprised to meet the word “chai” here, it’s also a Swahili word for tea. I bet we share several other vocabularies.

    1. Glad you enjoyed it! We actually do share a bunch of words (I’m gujarati and Kenyan) like makai which I have heard a lot of people use for maize in Kenya.

      1. Learning new languages won’t be hard now, I guess. I’m Kenyan too btw 🙂

        1. Yeah you’re already kind of speaking two languages. Ooh that’s cool!
