What’s The Weirdest Thing That’s Ever Happened To You?

Six Word Story

I’m still working on my longer post so I decided to post this one today. I have one question for you guys- what is the the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you? Something that you can’t explain but you know happened.

I’ll go first. When I was living back home in Kenya I had a lot of weird things happen to me and I still think that apartment may be haunted. One weird thing that happened to me I still can’t explain was hearing footsteps in my room in the middle of the night. It must have been like 5 am or so and I was woken up to really loud footsteps in my bedroom. I shared the room with my sister so I assumed it was her and without checking to see I just told her to keep it down and tried to go back to sleep. However, the noise didn’t stop and I got super annoyed and woke up to tell her to shut up but when I looked at her bed she was fast asleep in it. Obviously, I was kind of freaked out and I realised the noise was coming from the closet/dressing room area. After a few seconds it stopped and I was relieved I didn’t have to go investigate where the noise was coming from and ended up going to sleep. Later on- the night after this happened- I told my sister about it and as we were talking we realised one of her socks was randomly stuck at the very top of our window. We had no idea how it got there as it had previously been in her bed the night before.

I thought the noise may have come from a neighbours house but it was way too loud. It was definitely coming from our room and to this day I can hear exactly what it sounds like when I think about it. It was like when someone was annoyed and stomping their feet with flip flops on. I don’t know how else to describe it. It was weird and I still have no idea what the hell was going on or where that sound came from.

Edit: It was early morning and the sun was out so I could tell there was no one else in the room apart from me and my sister. The closet door was open and I could see there was no one in there because of where my bed is.

For the record I was extremely skeptical about paranormal stuff before I moved into that apartment. I had always been scared of the dark but I knew that ghosts/spirits/stuff like that was not real.

Let me know your weird stories in the comments below I would love to hear them! Also let me know if you guys would like to hear more about my paranormal experiences- I don’t know if any of them were actually really paranormal stuff but I genuinely can’t find any other explanation for them.

  1. I had someone argue up and down that it was totally thing to use to clean up shards (small ones) of broken glass to use a sanitary napkin. I think it was attention getting actions. Though who knows…nowadays it might be the go to for cleaning up glass. Personally, I use a broom and dustpan or a brush and dustpan. Reusable. The other go to would be some cheap tape. Sanitary napkins only have two strips of adhesive and wouldn’t pick up a whole lot more than a couple of pieces of tape 🙂 Plus, I have great hearing 🙂

    1. I’m guess that is weird … or weird enough 🙂

      1. It’s pretty weird. When I first read about it on Reddit I just kept thinking how unpractical it was

        1. What did you read about on Reddit?

    2. Lol I actually read about the on Reddit and apparently people are using sanitary napkins to pick up shards. I found that so bizarre because a lot of them are not that sticky and like you said it’s just two strips. Like you I just use a brush and dustpan or if I feel like there is still something left I use tape

      1. Oh right…talking about the sanitary napkin as a thing to pick up the broken glass. LOL…two little adhesive strips….wouldn’t have been any better or worse off with tape even small tape would have more adhesive surface 🙂

        1. Yup that’s the thing it’s so useless lol!

          1. Actually quite useful for women of a certain age, but not really all that great for picking up glass…lots cheaper and just as effective methods … LOL…including brush and dustpan sets. Eco friendly too as you can use it over and over whereas….the other is better left to feminine hygiene 😀

            1. Yeah it’s useful if you use it for what it’s made for 😂

  2. I don’t think anything gets weirder for me that the story I shared with you a few days ago, about the pub and shop that I was fascinated with as a child being at the top of my future-husband’s road. On the paranormal front though, I do remember looking down my bed one night and I saw a huge Kiss-like face. It appeared for a second or two, then went. I also swore that one of the horses on my wallpaper once winked at me. I didn’t know it at the time, but apparently my childhood bedroom (that room) was haunted, and my parents had asked the spirit not to harm me. I definitely get spooked easily now, and after my Dad died, I was convinced that he would come back to visit me, as a ghost.

  3. OMG, you have such an interesting life and I wish that has happened to me, but I’ve never seen a ghost, although I did read some ghost stories. Also I love dawn and dusk, the period of time when ghosts come and go more frequently, but ghosts have never approached me.

  4. Well not much, but one day I was returning from Delhi to my hometown. I was on the bus and suddenly I saw a girl near that bus, luckily she asks me to sit with her. And happily, I accepted her offer, then she started talking to me which was very strange for me. Because I am very shy nature of guy who less talk with girls.
After it we were chatting, laughing, and that was a very beautiful moment, later she gave me her number for later calls. When I reach home a message was dropped that we have a journey only to the bus. Now bye, and take care.
I was like what happened that day, clueless, baseless😅.

  5. Years ago, when I was in my early twenties, I was living in an apartment in an old house with my friend. One night, I was alone in my room, sitting at my vanity table writing in my journal. There was an empty glass on the table next to me; I’d had some ginger ale or something in it, but drank it all. It was a crystal-like glass, very pretty but nothing special. I was writing away, when suddenly the glass just shattered. It didn’t fall to the floor and shatter, it just shattered while it was on the table. Out of nowhere, for no reason. It was the weirdest thing ever, lol. I still don’t have an explanation for it. No other weird things had happened in the apartment while we were there, just the shattering glass. Freaky.

    1. Whoa, that’s pretty freaky. Nothing out of the normal has happened to me, and I kinda wish it would.

  6. Paranormal experience is just another made-up story until it happens to you!
Hopefully, I’ll be lucky enough to experience one someday.

  7. Wow that’s really weird 😐 😳

    1. It totally was!

  8. When my Dad was in a coma in 2005, my sister Anne took a picture on her phone and it seemed to capture a startling vivid image of an angel over his headboard. Some strange burst of light must have been responsible. The Christmas Eve after Dad died, the family was gathered and my sister was recounting other coincidences she connected to Dad of her car honking at the cemetery, unexplained door openings, and clock times frozen. I mockingly said, “Anne, why is Dad only sending signs to you?” Before she could answer, my cell phone went off and a text message said “Merry XMAS.” Back then I only carried a phone for emergencies and only family had my number. My son the cynic grabbed the phone to investigate what he thought was a prank we staged. No one recognized the number (from out of state). Trying to call it got a non working number message. No one later asked if I got their text. That really spooked me.

    1. Wow that is so interesting. Did you ever get anything else from that number or have any other experiences after that?

      1. No, at first I thought we would solve the mystery with some other information that would eventually provide a logical explanation. Nothing odd ever again happened with that phone. If it was some glitch, the exact timing made for a remarkable coincidence. Or I had my one and only (known) experience with the supernatural.

  9. These stories are great – so spooky! Weirdest one for me was driving home from work ( it was night but street was well lit) and as I went to turn right a man dressed all in black ran in front of my car. I slammed the brakes on and immediately looked in that direction but there was nothing there and no possible hidden place for him to go. Sometimes I second guess whether I saw anything but even now I can picture it all so clearly

    1. Oh wow that sounds terrifying!

  10. wow, that gave me chills. its like a scene right from a horror movie!

    1. It was terrifying!

  11. I grew up in a haunted house so I have too many stories, but the creepiest experiences I’ve had come from my boyfriend’s first apartment. I’m still skeptical on whether I fully believe in the paranormal or not (even though I’ve had tons of experiences), but I think it’s fascinating to investigate and think about.

    1. I feel the same way- I have had so many weird experiences but I still feel like maybe there are logical explanations which I can’t think of. Yup definitely a lot of fun to think about!

  12. too young to reply to your question

    1. Maybe someday!

  13. Its weird right? I was shocked reading it but darkness doesn’t scare me anymore. I’m used to it.
But eerie experiences are a part of life so I’ll share mine
One of my nightmares was that there is water all around me and I am drowning I do not know how to swim and everything is blank around me but there is a light and someone is helping me but I can’t see who’s it but its a guy the more I try to see his face the more blur his face gets. He’s saving me but I simply can’t see his face. 🤷🏽‍♀️
Maybe I’ll see his face once or when I’m supposed or destined to. I have a strong hope I’ll see it.
It sounds pretty filmy but ya its true.

    1. Oh wow that sounds terrifying. Do let me know if you ever see his face 😮

      1. I wish I do get to see his face soon but as they say everything happens when its supposed to:)

        1. Yup so true things only happen when they are supposed to!

  14. That is definitely weird! I went to university on this old campus that was definitely haunted. I was working in the oldest building on campus once and I knew the ghost story behind it.
    CW: Suicide, self-harm
Back when it was a finishing school for daughters of 49ers, those girls were destined for unhappy marriages to rich men, so they would go to the top floor of the building, carve their initials and their betrothed’s initials on the windowsill and jump out.
So, when I was working in the building, I was on the lower floor and I heard this massive crash above me and I screamed! Took me several minutes to calm down. Apparently, it was a chair falling, not a ghost

    1. Oh wow I would have gotten scared at that too. I hate loud noises and hearing a sudden sound in a building with that history would really freak out.

      1. I was exactly the same at university! I would freak if anything unusual happened because so many buildings had paranormal activity

  15. We lived in a very old house that my kids believed was haunted. It had plenty of weird noises but nothing I’d call too weird. My son however, would run into our room scared to death. He said he’d see a lady in white carrying a dagger walking into his room. That’s when he was young, ages three to five. He remembers that to this day and he’s in his late 20s.

    1. Omg wow that is terrifying. I wonder if there is anything that ever happened in that house at some point before you bought it.

      1. The house was 85 years old, so there is no telling! That’s very old for California.

        1. Yeah that’s quite old!

  16. I can’t recall any such experience…

    1. If you ever do let me know!

  17. I’ll be watching TV or a movie and a new character will come on the scene and I’ll think of their name and I’m right at least 25% of the time…unless its a real ‘out there’… it’s really weird and I have no explanation.

    1. Omg that’s so cool! Maybe you’re slightly psychic- that would be awesome.

      1. Sure feels that way.

  18. It’s hard to pick the most weirdest thing because lots of weird things happen to me. The weirdest? Probably the time I was working on a puzzle and a puzzle piece was missing. I ended up finding the puzzle piece 3 years later in a drawer in my mom’s house. I never put the puzzle piece there nor did my parents. It was so strange. Plus the box was opened for the first time so nobody else could have put it there.

Another time, I was playing a bunch of CDs at my parents’ house during my 13th birthday. There were 5 or 6 CDs that were playing on rotation. Out of nowhere, the song “Zombies” by the Cranberries started playing, then went back to my CDs. Just that particular song. It was weird because that CD wasn’t even in the CD player at that time plus it was my dad’s. There’s no option to record songs, and the radio wasn’t on. We’re convinced that there are ghost(s) in that house.

    1. Oh wow both of those are very strange indeed. I think you guys are right that house was probably haunted or something.

      1. My mom saw the ghost of a deceased man who was killed at the corner of the street in a car accident years ago. Perhaps it’s him. She told him to go to the light and he hasn’t been back since…. yet strange things still happen from time to time.

        1. Wow. I don’t think I would have had the guts to talk to him I would probably have freaked out.

  19. Have you read the book Layla by Colleen Hoover? It’s all about paranormal happenings in the life of the protagonist. The entire book is chilling to say the least but it’s also so captivating that you can’t stop reading you just keep turning the pages.

    1. Wow that sounds very interesting thanks for the recommendation I’ll check it out!

  20. Ok I need to stop reading all these comments just before I sleep. Cause I might just not get any sleep. Lok

    1. Lol I read them before bed too and I was awake half the night

  21. During a period of time when I was abusing an array of different substances, I had some vivid dreams. One of the dreams was being at a party were Wonder Woman greeted the guests on roller skates and the Incredible Hulk urinated In his own shoe and placed it in the freezer to settle a bet that urine won’t freeze. Fast forward 3/4 months and I attended a friend’s birthday party which was fancy dress. You’ve guessed it. Wonder Woman on roller skates and the Incredible Hulk and so much more that I had seen in the dream happened. It was surreal. So as not to be a bad guest and leave, I took some LSD and tripped through quite happily

  22. This is a true story and still gives me the shudders everytime I think about it!

I had a cousin who was not doing too well stay with my family and I for a couple of months. She seemed to be suffering from a mental illness, and it was apparent she needed help.

Her family didn’t live in the country and sent her here because they didn’t know how to help her. My family took her to appointments with a therapist to see if a diagnosis could be reached . Unfortunately, not all of Indian society is forward thinking and most of my relatives felt she was “possessed”. Irrespective of their opinion, we continued psychological treatment in hopes of getting her on her feet.

Her demeanor was strange to me. I was very young at the time and didn’t really grasp what exactly was going on with her. She stared off into the distance, laughed randomly at a blank TV screen, circled around the bed for hours on end, sometimes breaking the pattern to do sit ups. One time she was sitting in the living room, and the ceiling fan of the room came crashing down a few feet away from her. She didn’t move, not one bit. She just laughed and walked away into the bedroom.

This is when we noticed two things : First, we all were getting increasingly fearful of her. Second, my mom’s health started to decline rapidly. She was the primary caregiver of my cousin and had the most strength in dealing with her.

One day, my mom was applying for some government document and needed pictures to be taken at a photo studio – passport size. The pictures were developed and I wanted one to keep in my school bag ;it’s something our family always did – kept pictures of each other everytime someone got it developed.

The tubelight was switched on in the living room, and I was standing diagonally under it. As I held the picture up, I could see how tired my mom looked ; her hair in a mess, eyes tired. But as I shifted the picture around, I couldn’t help noticing a silhouette in the background. I tiled it at an angle to the light, and at that moment, my heart dropped because I could see the silhouette resembled my cousin.

I told everyone in our family and we burnt the pictures. My cousin stayed on for a few more weeks, but then we had to put our foot down- My mom’s health was declining rapidly. She was sent back to her family, and honestly that was such a happy day for me.

I really don’t know what came of her psych evaluations, or if she was on some kind of treatment. Like I said, I was really young. We don’t talk about her anymore because those months really were traumatizing for all of us. I haven’t heard from my cousin or her family in years because of a falling out. I hope she’s better now, but I really hope she doesn’t ever come back here.

    1. Wow that sounds like a really scary experience. It sucks that you went through that. I hope she got the help she needed and it’s good that you told her to leave because as much as she needed help it wasn’t worth sacrificing your own health for.

      1. Thanks, I agree!

  23. Weird things always happen to me when I’m asleep. Like whenever I dream, I can listen to anyone who is talking near me.. And even in my dream I always know that I’m ‘dreaming’. Basically I can easily differentiate about reality and my dream even when I’m dreaming.

  24. […] What’s The Weirdest Thing That’s Ever Happened To You? […]

  25. ooooh ooooo oooooh ooooo… I heard nothing in the night. stood straight up.. woke my husband and said there’s a rat behind the dresser. he poo pooed it heard nothing and I didn’t either.. sure enough… it was there.. 😩🤣😀

    1. Omg that’s crazy how did you know???

      1. I was doing heightened intuition courses then.. wild💖

  26. Hello Puja,

I fear the ghosts a lot. Whenever, I watch a horror film, it transforms in the horrific nightmare. Still today, I never watch horror movies. I think ghost movies are useless. They have no learning, no meaning.

One point is that YouTube is an open plateform. Some videos are far away from general entertainment purpose of movies. They show violence, death scene and other related stuff.

    1. Yeah ghosts freak me out too and I always avoid ghost movies as much as possible. That’s the problem with open platforms like that- it’s a double edged sword.

  27. Your story made my hairs on my arms stand up. It reminds me of the booms I use to hear on my bedroom door. I would open my door and nothing but darkness. It happened quite often.

    1. Woah that’s scary I wonder what the noise is.

      1. I think I will share the story on my blog. You have inspired me to be bold enough to dig up the past.

        1. You totally should- people may have had similar or weirder experiences and they’re super fun to read about!

          1. Okay I’m creeped out but I def will. In fact I’ll start it tonight 😳

            1. Let me know when it’s up I definitely want to read it 😱

              1. I sure will!!! Inspired by you🙌🏾

  28. The only thing I can say is that whilst under the influence of LSD I realised what it is all about and had perfect clarity in my mind. It is simply an instrument used for extra exploration, just as microscope is for a scientist. The scientists don’t have their eyes glued to the lens. They observe and then they work on their observations

    1. So many people find LSD helpful for understanding themselves and the world around them better. Timothy Leary’s thoughts and experiences for example are fascinating.
Your thoughts are really interesting too I never thought about it like that.

      1. Too much of something spoils the effects itself. How do you know that you need two spoons of sugar in your tea? Or boiling and egg for the runny yolk is fine timing indeed?
