As you guys know I am a really big fan of art and I really do enjoy all things art. I’m not great at things to do with art but I have been trying to learn and get better. I also really love decorating and I’m always picking up little things from the Dollar Store or Walmart to make my apartment look better. As amazing as those things are, I always felt like something was missing because back home we had some really beautiful paintings in our living room and two in my sister and I’s bedroom. My mum and sister are great at art and had made them. They’re amazing and I remember always envying their talent when I was younger.
My sister and I had already been discussing adding some art to our living room so when I got the opportunity to collaborate with Photowall I thought of it as a sign from the universe. Photowall is an amazing wall-art company that offers a number of amazing products. At the moment, they offer wallpaper or wall murals, canvas prints and posters both with and without the frames.
I looked through their site and was genuinely impressed by the products but one problem became clear. I suck at making choices- maybe it’s the anxiety, maybe it’s the fact that I’m the youngest and very spoilt lol but either way everything looked so absolutely amazing I just could not pick what to get. That’s when I decided to talk to my sister and we decided that a canvas would be the perfect item for out living room. As much as we loved the other products, we really missed home and we thought having a beautiful canvas print in our home would bring back a lot of memories.
So, after that was decided we began going through all the amazing designs they offer and kept in mind that they also offer to create something specialised in case you want something specific that they don’t have on their site. Again there were a lot of options so we took quite a while to pick something but at last we found something truly perfect.
It was this beautiful painting of elephants.
As you probably know by now, I’m Kenyan and one thing that I truly love about being Kenyan is how I am able to have so many amazing experiences with animals. I had gone back home for summer about two years ago and one of the things I did with my family and one of my best friends in the world who is like a sister to me is go to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. It’s one of the best memories I have from that trip and it’s also the last time I was with them since I haven’t been able to travel for a while due to the pandemic and my university schedule.
We both thought this would be perfect and quickly ordered it. You can get them with and without a frame but we chose to get it with a frame. When it arrived I was a little nervous because I have put an Ikea bed together on my own as well as a shelf and neither were fun experiences. Luckily the frame was insanely easy to put together and all the tools we needed were provided so we were able to put it together in about half an hour.
To be honest, the prices on their site very quite low compared to some of the other sites we had browsed (since we were already looking for art even before we knew about Photowall) so I wasn’t expecting it to be the best quality ever. However, I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw the the finished canvas- it was absolutely beautiful and frankly exceeded my expectations. I was so happy to finally have something so beautiful in my living room- it is now the first thing you see when you come into our place! We kind of just stood there staring at it for a little bit.
I think this was one of the very best experiences I have had ordering something online- the site was super easy to use, the order process was extremely simple, it arrived on time and it was incredibly easy to assemble and put up. Furthermore, I was happy that this came from a more ethical company. They plant about 5000 trees every year in the area surrounding Lake Victoria in Africa. They also strive to reduce the waste they produce by only producing products when ordered so there are no surplus products created and then unnecessarily discarded. And their wallpapers are biodegradable. For more on their environmental efforts click here.
The amazing people at Photowall want to give you guys 25% off on any product on their site for the next two months. All you need to do is use this code: lifesfinewhine25 so feel free to check them out and if you feel like there’s something you really like be sure to use this code. I would really recommend at least going through their site and viewing their products because you will definitely be pleasantly surprised. My sister and I are already discussing what other products we’ll be getting- I have my eye on a couple of posters of musicians I really like. So far I am thinking about getting posters of Janis Joplin, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix.
