Podcasting Profit Secrets Review

Podcasting Background

As you guys may remember, podcasting is something I have been trying to get into this year. I started listening to a lot of podcasts last year that I enjoyed and I thought it would be fun to host one of my own with my sister. I talked a little bit about this at the beginning of the year when I first came back to blogging and later on again.

However, with university and everything going on in our lives both my sister and I got quite busy and were not able to work on our podcast. Another issue we faced was that we did not know much about the world of podcasting. And by that I mean it was all new to us and we pretty much knew nothing about it…

Now as a history major I did what I have spent years training myself to do- read and digest an insane amount of information in a surprisingly short amount of time. I mean research is my thing- I’m not the best researcher ever but as a history student I’ve gotten pretty good at it and I know the benefits of researching things.

So, I started doing more research into podcasts and although a lot of it was beneficial it was still kind of complicated which became frustrating. If you know me, you probably know that I’m kind of a perfectionist and if I do something I need to do it well. I feel like I have a lot of practice with blogging and social media since it’s not new to me but podcasts are far from what I’m used to. Not instantly being good at it or understanding how to create a successful podcast immediately was becoming annoying to me.

That’s when I stumbled upon the Podcasting Profit Secrets bundle and it really helped get me out of my funk. They offer a bundle with the Podcasting Profit Secrets eBook, video course, a resource cheat sheet, a checklist, and a mind map on successful podcasting. Although I think everything in this bundle is successful, I wanted to take some time to focus on the eBook and video course for this post because if I recall correctly when I talked about starting a podcast a number of you said you were thinking about starting one too. I wanted to share this information with you guys so that in case any of you are still interested in podcasting and are as confused as I was you can check out this bundle and figure things out without wasting as much time as I did.

Both the eBook and the video course focus on how to create and run a successful and profitable podcast. I won’t go into an insane amount of detail about what I’ve learned because I think it would be unfair to give out information like that which someone else put a lot of effort into collecting and putting together but I will give you a highlight of what I learned and what I found most beneficial.

I think both the eBook and the video course would be extremely beneficial for those that are planning to start a podcast or are in the early stages of their podcasting journey because a large part of both focuses on what you need before you start your podcast and how to make your podcast successful once you have started it.

The first thing that both the book and course made me realise is that I didn’t know my target audience and to be honest I probably did not have a target audience because I had not thought too much about my content concerning what my niche would be. I had thought it would be similar to my blog in that I would talk about multiple niches and topics but because of this, I understood that it would not be that simple when it came to podcasts. I had to find my niche and more importantly, I needed to figure out how to create something that would be of value in some way to others out there. Both the course and eBook dive much deeper into this and helped me figure out my target audience as well as my niche.

One more thing it made me realise is that I needed to do a lot more planning and research for each of the episodes. Unlike blogging, it was not just me rambling on. We needed to have somewhat of a script or at least properly plan out the topics we are going to cover and what we are going to say about them. They give you much more detail on this so if planning your episodes is something you are struggling with I would really recommend checking out the bundle.

Another thing that was kind of confusing or perhaps rather difficult for me was all the tech stuff. As you know, technology and I don’t always see eye to eye and that’s why I was super excited when I saw that the eBook and video both talked about how to deal with the technological side of podcasting. This was such a blessing since it saved me lots of time and energy. They tell you the equipment you will need which is very helpful. They also give lots of information about how to record the episodes even when you have guests you are talking to online and how to edit these episodes using free apps and sites. The editing tools in particular were super helpful as I had tried using a couple of other free apps which didn’t seem to cut it. The one they suggested worked well and I will be using that for my podcast.

Another thing I was struggling with when it came to podcasting is how to promote it. Even if you do everything right with your podcast you have to understand that there are thousands of podcasts out there and you need to promote yours to get a decent number of listeners. I get how promoting your content works but I was unclear on how to connect everything and make sure it gets cross-promoted on my blog as well as all my social media pages. This sounds easy but it’s actually kind of complicated because sometimes links end up broken or don’t go up at the optimum times or a bunch of other stuff can go wrong. Especially when it comes to WordPress… *cough they are super unhelpful and glitchy cough*

The eBook and video went into quite a bit of detail about how to cross-promote your podcast on social media and other platforms to help increase your audience and make profits from this. I was super excited that they talked specifically about how to promote your work on your blog which was perfect for someone like me because this blog is my biggest platform. There is also information on how to promote it on other sites, platforms, podcasts, etc. because this can be quite beneficial too. Although I probably won’t be getting paid ads at the moment I may at some point so it’s good to have that information at the back of my mind.

If you are looking to make an income from your podcast this book and course will also teach you how to attract the right advertisers and sponsors. If you have ever tried making money online you know that this is not easy so having someone teach give you this information helps a lot.

I think that will be it for the information because like I said before I don’t want to give too much away.

Overall, I think it’s great that they have this bundle that offers both a video and an eBook because not everyone is a writing/reading learner and not everyone is a visual learner. We all learn things in different ways and having both the eBook and taking the course helps to digest the information better because it’s not just one method of learning but multiple. I enjoy learning through reading as well as through visual methods and it depends on my headspace at the time so having both as an option helped me understand in a way other content I had looked into had not.

I also appreciate that neither the eBook nor the video course got too technical or complicated because a lot of stuff that is supposed to be for beginners can be very hard to follow for someone who knows close to nothing about creating a podcast. So, even if you have little to no experience with podcasts this would be beneficial for you.

I understand that not everyone is interested in creating a podcast to make a profit and even though making a profit is not my main goal it would be cool to make some income from my podcast and to make an income you need at least a semi-professional sounding podcast. If you are like me and may want to make an income from podcasting this would be the bundle for you.

That being said, I am happy to announce that with the help of this bundle we were finally able to finish recording the first episode of our podcast. We are in the process of editing it and it should be ready for you guys to listen to soon!

Check out the bundle which is currently on sale by clicking here.

  1. I have no idea how to produce a podcast!

    1. Well now you know a little haha!

  2. I have started doing podcasts of my blog posts for a few months now. I’m on Anchor FM. I do it once a week. I actually start about Wed to get one out for Saturday. I think like with anything else in media, e-books, print books, instagram, facebook etc…there are no short cuts. You either want to do it or you just like the idea. You aren’t going to get a following immediately unless you have one already…which gives you a step up potentially. Depending on your budget, you may have to be at it awhile before anyone even pays any attention. I think that you need to be interested in it and really want to do it or you won’t be at it long. Try your best at it if you really want to do it. As with anything else, if it is just to make money and you don’t enjoy it, you won’t be at it long either. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea and you have to do what is best for you. I think it will be awhile before I can monetize anything I do. I’m starting from no budget. All I had to get was a mic. But, if it catches on, then maybe I’ll look at monetizing. Most of my stuff is author related. Anyway, hope this is of help.

    1. I think I remember you mentioning your podcast on IG. I agree- I think there are no shortcuts. You need to do your research and some things I guess you learn along the way. The book/course also mentioned that it generally takes a while before you can make money off it which was cool because I appreciate the honesty. When people tell me I can get rich quick I know they’re lying and it makes me question everything they are saying. This definitely helped thank you!

      1. I thought later. You might want to actually try Vlog since you’re comfortable in front of a camera. Would work well with your interview format that you use in some of your blogs. Just a thought. Though could also be addressed in a Podcast. But, gives you additional options 🙂

        1. I’ve been wanting to vlog for quite a while now but the only problem is I really don’t have the time or budget because camera’s can be quite expensive. Hopefully someday though!

          1. A lot of people do Vlog right from their cell phones. There was a course on FutureLearn about doing filming on a low budget for Charities. It gives some ideas and techniques. You might find the info useful. It is free to join. Hope this helps. https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/low-budget-video-production-for-small-charities

            1. That’s super helpful thanks. I’ll be sure to check it out.

            2. I think I might have found the answer to your blogging….Canva now offers the ability to do voice only presentations. Just saw it and thought of you immediately. Though you can also get podcasts through Anchor and a variety of other things I’m sure. Depends on your budget I guess. Hope this helps 🙂

              1. Oh that’s great- I already use Canva so it would be easier to use their voice presentations. I’ll definitely look into that thank you!

                1. Always glad to be of service !

  3. Love a good podcast! I know yours will be great. I did alot of digging in to the idea a few months ago and plan on really getting into it this fall. Thanks for the info!

    1. Thank you and best of luck with yours- I look forward to listening to it!

  4. Congrats on your first episode! And, thanks for the review. Podcasting is something I’ve thought about, but I don’t knoe how to get started or what to talk about. Something good for my future though!

    1. Thanks! Yeah we had the same problem but I’m sure you’ll figure it out over time!

  5. Can’t wait to listen to your podcast! Thanks for the review! I’ll have to check it out, always wanted to start a podcast, but it would be just me, so I feel like I would really need to plan it out and figure out the best niche…😅

    1. Thanks! It’s definitely a bit more difficult on your own since you have to do everything on your own but I think it would also be really interesting. Hope you figure it all out!

  6. LOL. WordPress is really unhelpful and glitchy. I totally agree. And congratulations on your podcast and wish to hear your first production.

    1. Lol yeah WP can be so annoying sometimes. Thanks- I look forward to sharing the first episode really soon.

  7. I listen to mostly entrepreneurial podcasts although I don’t use them for business related reasons. I use them for personal development and find that there is a lot of overlap when it comes to being the CEO of a business and/or your personal life. I use the podcast app on the iPhone to listen to podcasts and like they this form of “edutainment” is free.

When it comes to making money, I would think that many podcasters make money from promoting products or collaborating with brands, or offering additional services through Patreon etc. My favorite podcasts are ones that don’t have annoying ads, but that’s me.

    1. Yeah podcasts are great for educating yourself and bettering yourself in general too. I really enjoy the history ones since I’m a history major and some of the stuff they cover is stuff I’m interested in and write about for my papers.

I totally get that- ads can be annoying for some people and can kind of ruin the flow of the podcast.

  8. I have no idea about podcasts and I don’t think I have the time and energy to start one now. But when I do, I’ll come back and check this post 😃

    1. It’s super time consuming- more than I imagined actually so I totally get it!

      1. It’s amazing that you manage to find time to do it 🙂 and write amazing tutorials about podcasts.

        1. Lol I don’t sleep much these days… jk jk 😂😂

          1. Oh!!! So much excitement can definitely steal sleep

  9. Thanks for this review. I have thought about doing a podcast, but still on the fence

    1. I would be very interested in listening to it- let me know if you end up starting one!

      1. I will do!

  10. sounds like a useful product, and congrats on getting started with podcasting…

    1. Thank you- it was super helpful for sure!

  11. A very insightful post. Got to know the other side of podcasting (like behind the scenes). Only listening to podcast is the best idea i guess. It feels super easy to listen to a podcast but the efforts behind one are incredible.
I know you will break it through. All the best!

    1. Thank you so much- glad this gave you some insight into what goes on behind the scenes!

  12. A very useful post. I like to listen to podcast as it is a super easy way, and congrats on starting with podcasting

    1. Thank you so much!

  13. All the best Pooja for starting your podcast💖💕

    1. Thank you so much!!

  14. I’ve certainly thought about doing this, but the time commitment is kind of daunting. When I read the rules for creating successful podcasting content I automatically think of Joe Rogan, who has rambling, unscripted conversations and has no particular focus, but also has the most successful podcast ever. Rules were made for breaking, haha.

    1. Yeah it is a pretty big commitment since it can be very time consuming. That’s true- podcasts like his are often very popular and tend to just be people rambling about their opinion on stuff. Maybe I need to start doing that…

      1. You can get away with breaking the rules as long as you’re entertaining.

        1. Yeah I agree- people just want to be entertained.

  15. I’ve tried many times to create a podcast but uhh quite lazy I am in terms of speaking 😁.
It takes hell lot if effort to create one(if perfect).
But, podcasting is getting wider and richer as profession. Gonna give it a go for sure!!

    1. Haha I was like that too but then I was like okay I need to just start it already!

Yeah it’s a lot of work but like you said they’re very popular and if you do it right you can definitely make a career of it. Good luck!

  16. I don’t listen to them but I should but when? lol

    1. Lol I put them on in the background while I do other stuff because who has time to do just one thing anymore 😂😂

      1. omg… true.. the background music is already 3 thinkgs.. 🤣

  17. This is informative. I’ll definitely keep coming to this lost because ive always thought about having one but had no idea how to begin. Thank you so much
