Seeing The Real You- A Poem

In that moment

I saw the real you

The one you keep hidden from the world

The monster that comes out when you see red

The thing I am afraid of most

I know I usually post something about food on Fridays but I’m just not feeling it today so I’m sharing something from my drafts.

  1. All people have a dark side. It isn’t necessarily the real them unless they choose not to control it and decide to continue a negative path. Some people, however, are not exactly trustworthy. That’s the hard thing to sort out.

      1. Yeah, probably. But just like when you’re watching a scary movie, there’s still that reaction. Also, I’ve been married to a monster like that. Can’t bear to see anyone else get hurt.

  2. Interesting. In a way so is life. There are always two sides to a coin.
I like this type of content. Makes me want to think.
    Thank you for sharing.

  3. Excellent poem! I feel the trepidation. We all know people that can make us feel this way. Especially bad when we love them deeply.

  4. You are sooooo right. I mean even if with a friend of many many years. I mean we can be polite and courteous for all these years and never say anything out of the strict conservative boundary of things. After a while, one just gives up on such conversations. What’s the point? If I already know the answer, there’s no point to engage in the communication. Then one day he or she can say something quite uncharacteristically fresh and good and even interesting. Real people are very very interesting. It is the facade that we use for our daily life that is really boring. However we just have to be content with it. It’s not going to change.

    1. Yes absolutely real people have so much more to offer. They are interesting and amusing unlike the versions of ourselves we present.
