Getting Your First 1000 Followers
I remember reaching my first 1000 followers and just being so incredibly excited and honoured. Getting your first 1000 followers is no easy thing. In fact, it can be quite difficult for a lot of people depending on multiple factors. However, it is very possible for most people to get to 1000 much faster than they think. It doesn’t have to take you years to grow- it can be done in a few week or months depending on your goals and how much time you are willing to spend on your blog.
Not everyones goal is to grow their blog, however, I know that many people do and that’s why I try to share posts such as this one. Having a larger following can really be beneficial for you especially if you are hoping to make blogging your part-time or full-time job. It can help you get more sponsors, sell products and services and so much more.
It can also be a nice feeling to know that so many people enjoy your content and it can be lovely to have likeminded people on your site to communicate and interact with. I know that’s one of the biggest benefits for me.
Today, I thought I would share some things that helped me get my first 1000 followers that may also be able to help you do the same:
Create Content People Enjoy
This one is pretty obvious but also something people forget too often. It’s great to create content that you love and enjoy to create but if you do want to grow your blog it may be a good idea to also think about what content your audience wants to see.
If a certain topic is pretty popular or has gotten a lot of comments or likes you may want to continue to post about that topic. If someone leaves some suggestions in the comments about what post they would like to see make sure you take it into account and if it’s doable try to post what they asked for.
Another great way to find out what your audience enjoys or wants to see on your site is by taking a survey every six to twelve months and simply asking them what they would like to see, what you could improve on and more. I think it’s important to think about these things to help stop people from unfollowing and to get more followers. If a lot of people say they enjoy a certain topic/niche then chances are other people that don’t follow you will enjoy content on this topic too. And posting about that topic would be a great way to get more followers.
SEO & Algorithm
I talk about SEO and the WordPress algorithm a lot but it’s only because they are both insanely important when it comes to growing your blog. SEO and the WordPress algorithm can make or break your post. If your post is both SEO and algorithm friendly your post is going to be pushed to a much larger audience (the better the post the larger the audience it will be pushed to) which will get you a lot more followers.
There are a lot of things that you can do to make your post more SEO and algorithm friendly. Some of those things are actually incredibly simple. I’m not going into too much detail on this post because I already have posts about this topic.

Making your posts as well as your overall blog SEO and algorithm friendly can be extremely time consuming especially going back to your older posts and editing them. Plus, doing the research on these things can be quite difficult too especially if you are not very good at tech stuff. Pay Attention To Trends
As always, I need to emphasise how important research is when it comes to growing your blog. Try to do research on trending keywords and topics as often as possible since this will give you an idea of what is popular at the moment and what people would likely enjoy reading about.
Try writing on topics that are popular or currently trending and try to use trending keywords as well. This will really help improve your traffic and following especially longterm but also short-term.
Interact
This is often the key to growing your blog. I always emphasise this on my blogging advice because it’s always one of the most beneficial. Try to interact and be as active as possible. The more active you are the better your traffic and following will be.
When some interacts with your post, i.e if they like or comment on your post, make sure you interact with their post as well. If they leave comments make sure to reply in a friendly way and try to have a genuine connection with them. Also try to interact with blogs that don’t already follow you.

Don’t give up on blogging just because you are not getting the response you thought you would get. Give it time and try using the above methods to grow your blog.
