How To Stay Motivated To Keep Blogging

How To Stay Motivated To Keep Blogging

How To Stay Motivated To Keep Blogging

Do you wonder how to stay motivated to keep blogging? Do you feel like you’re stuck in a rut when it comes to blogging? Are you struggling to stay motivated? Do you ever feel like you’ve hit a wall when it comes to writing for your blog? It might seem impossible to keep going, especially if you’re feeling unmotivated. But there are things you can do to keep yourself motivated and inspired to write.

I think it’s particularly difficult when you first start out because you don’t have a proper following yet, are not fully sure about what route to take your blog, don’t have consistent traffic yet and more.

I have seen a lot of bloggers give up on blogging over time. For some, it’s because their site is not growing as quickly as it hoped. For others it’s because they are not making a profit or income from blogging like they expected to. And for some others it is simply because they ran out of content to create.

I always feel a little sad or disappointed when someone stops blogging because I think every blog has the potential to be something great. A lot of times, minor adjustments can help fix the issue of not having a proper following or enough traffic. Things like making your site more SEO or algorithm friendly, redesigning your site or even getting your blog post edited professionally can make a huge impact.

Because I don’t want to see any more bloggers I like give up on blogging, here is how to stay motivated to keep blogging:

Google Is Your Friend

How To Stay Motivated To Keep Blogging

I always say this, but when it comes to blogging research is truly the key. And Google can be your best friend because it’s a great place to get so much information completely for free. If not having enough traffic or following is the reason you no longer feel motivated to blog remember there are always ways to increase both your traffic and following.

The first thing you want to do, is do some research into things like SEO, keywords, Domain Authority (DA), blogging trends etc. Once you have more information on things like this you will understand how to get more traffic to your site which will consequently also increase your following.

If you are someone who feels like they don’t have time to do the research and make the changes, because it can be extremely time consuming, you can always hire someone to do it for you because these changes are somewhat vital if you want to grow your blog and especially if you want to make a profit from your blog someday. I personally offer a lot of services that can help you instantly grow your blog- you can check them out by clicking here. However, if you don’t have the budget to hire someone right now make the changes slowly when you have time but do it. I also have multiple posts on how to grow your blog yourself which you can read by clicking here.

Find Inspiration From Others

How To Stay Motivated To Keep Blogging

A lot of times, people stop blogging or lose the motivation to blog because they no longer feel like they are inspired to create content. This can happen especially when you have been blogging for a while. At first, it’s quite easy to come up with content ideas. However, over time it becomes more difficult to come up with fresh new ideas and this can really make you feel unmotivated.

One of the easiest ways to find inspiration for new content ideas is by looking at other blogs. You’ll see what works well for them, and you can use those ideas to help inspire your own posts.

Another great way to get inspiration for new posts is to read the content other bloggers are putting out. People come up with some fantastic ideas for posts and they can be quite inspiring for readers. If you do get inspired by someone else’s post please do be sure to give them credit for the idea.

If you’re still struggling to come up with ideas for a blog post feel free to check out my recent post “5 Blog Post Ideas When You Have Nothing To Blog About” for some new ideas.

Don’t Fixate On The Stats

A lot of bloggers or content creators, myself included, tend to focus on the stats. I know I can get a little obsessed with them. And I was particularly like this when I first began my blogging journey. It can be quite annoying not to see your numbers grow or even to see your numbers drop sometimes when you are less active.

However, after years of blogging one thing I have realised is that blogging is not all about the stats. When it comes to having a blog, I would recommend concentrating on your content and creating the best content you can instead of refreshing your stats page every two seconds.

Yes, stats are important to an extent. You are more likely to get more sponsors, Ads, etc if you have more followers or more traffic. But truth be told, you can easily make money with a smaller following and average traffic. I started earning an income from my blog way before I had the following and traffic I have now. And that was mostly thanks to the content I was putting out.

If you do have a smaller site with a smaller following and want to make an income from blogging one day, one thing you can be thankful for is that a lot of people want to work with micro-influencers these days. You just need to find the right people to work with for your particular niche.

So, stop concentrating on your stats and start working on ways to improve your content. Because having quality content is the key to keep blogging. While fixating on stats can really make you feel unmotivated. Especially if you feel like your stats aren’t as great as you want them to be.

Write About Things You Love

Lastly, try to create content you love making. I know a lot of people tend to give up on blogging because they are creating content for the sake of stats, making an income, etc. This is going to leave you unsatisfied in the end because both growing your blog as well as making an income from it is going to take time. It doesn’t happen overnight unless you are the luckiest person ever.

If you are just churning out content for the sake of it you will feel less motivated to post regularly or consistently. However, if you are putting out content you actually enjoy creating you will want to put out content. Because you are having fun making it. Plus, the quality will be so much better and the audience will enjoy it more because they will be able to tell that you enjoyed yourself creating the post.

Conclusion

So, that is how to stay motivated to keep blogging. I really hope this post inspired at least some of you to stay motivated to blog. Just know that blogging is a longterm thing and it takes time to know your niche, to make an income, to better your stats etc. Try to stick with it and you will be rewarded over time.

  3. I’m currently at an impasse because I don’t get enough traffic on my blog to make it worthwhile. I just don’t know what the purpose of my blog is right now.

    1. I promise if you keep working on it, it will reveal itself.

      1. I know quitting is not an option. Trying not to get discouraged but it’s hard sometimes. Even if progress is slow, I’ll keep going.

    2. There are certain things that could make blogging interesting.
For instance, If you see work of Pooja G, she always provide variety of content. Her content never gets boring as she always come up with something different. Like she share 6 words story or qs and answer them in a podcast or quote of the day and many more. These are her original ideas and maybe you can try ideas like these.

    3. Yeah I understand that feeling and I hope you find a purpose for your blog. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to get enough traffic especially when you’re not able to blog more often. But I hope you continue to blog since you’re one of my fav bloggers.

  4. I’m not writing much these days because I very busy.

    1. Yeah it’s hard to always find time for blogging.

  5. A motivating blog!
I also felt disappointed in the beginning when I was not getting much views. But then I stay consistent. I started in August 2021 and till now I’ve written 60 blogs. I try to bring something new everything and that’s what keep things interesting for me. My main intention is to give information to people in a fun and easy to remember manner. Also, yes I do get inspired from others. I am following less people but I read their work sincerely and appreciate them. I love your work and I get inspired from your blogs and content. Thank you so much for doing this.

    1. Thanks so much. I’m glad you have continued to blog and yes consistency is very important when it comes to blogging. Reading other blogs is also great for your own blog. Thanks for the lovely comment.

      1. Yes reading others blogs is surely helpful. I read blogs carefully and then try to modify my content accordingly. For instance, if I’m reading your blog, then I look for how you kept readers enchanted, what words did you use. Length and topics are surely guiding me

        1. That’s wonderful. Other blogs are a wonderful learning opportunity.

  6. This post is very informative. Thanks for sharing this. Sometimes, I also feel demotivated. These days I am very busy in my studies and focusing my 11th class. And didn’t get enough time to post.

    1. Thanks. Yeah it’s hard to blog consistently with everything else going on in your life especially when you’re a student. However, it’s important to stick with it and keep going when you can.

      1. Thanks for your motivational words. I’ll keep trying to post whenever I get time

        1. That’s good to hear.

  7. Great post, I always get demotivated when it comes to blogging, but I always find myself coming back!

    1. I’m glad you find your way back! I think we all have moments whennwe are demotivated but sticking with it and finding your way back is most important.

  8. I always get demotivated when I don’t get enough views on my blog, but then I don’t give up and continue writing my blog

    1. It’s great that you keep going- views can increase over time if we keep publishing content.

  9. Interesting! I find that I sometimes am inspired by current events. Stuff from life. But people don’t seem to comment so might be a way to stop traffic. I write anyway. Once a week because a blog post and podcast takes awhile to formulate and such. So if I did daily, I’d never get anything else done.

    1. Yeah that’s a great source of inspiration. It definitely does take time and I’m glad you continue to keep blogging.

  10. When I feel unmotivated I keep on writing to keep the discipline and to be consistent. Sometimes I run out of ideas but something always comes up.

    1. Yeah, it helps to keep going even when you’re not feeling motivated.

  11. Thank you for this. I have been blogging on here for 8 years. At first it wasn’t very often but then I went on to write when things came up. The most traffic I got was in talking about a show I went to see for a podcast where they actually promoted it. The other was my coverage of the Johnny Depp trial. I speak about my mental illness in some manner in my posts to help people understand the different thoughts of people that can allow them to look outside of themselves.

I have been trying to get freelancing jobs as I am knowledgeable of a lot if subjects and good at research but I think I’m going to have to give up on that. I promote my blogs on many platforms but sometimes I wonder why I am writing if no one is really reading.

    1. I’m sorry freelancing isn’t working out for you but you shouldn’t give up. There must be ways to increase your traffic and following to help increase your audience. Continue to write and one day I hope you get the traffic you deserve.

      1. Thank you. I have been learning about SEOs and other things. I’ll keep trying but, otherwise it will just be my sad diary. LOL

        1. Well at least you have an outlet?? Lol

          1. Exactly! LOL

  12. In my view, reading others’ blogs, books, or any other content is a good way to get new ideas.

    1. Yes I absolutely agree. It always helps me feel inspired.

  13. Totally inspirational and relatable Pooja!
    Love all of your points.
Oh so now we all want to know how much you are making … you know that right?! 😂
Not to be personal but I think you have your next post haha.

It’s not easy maintaining a blog and it takes time so it’s easy to see why people give up.
    💖🥰🥰

    1. I make the perfect amount that you think I make 😂😂

It’s sooo difficult to maintain a blog and people don’t get that till they get into it themselves.

      1. I’ll see you on the cover of people soon😂

        Yes that’s sooo true!

        1. Well People called but I had to turn them down since I’m so busy with work these days 😜💁🏽‍♀️

          1. I know it must be tough to be on all of those vogue magazine covers! 💖🥰

            1. It’s honestly a full time job for me 🥰😜

  14. Very informative post !!! Thanks for sharing 😊

    1. My pleasure. 😀

  15. Very interesting… Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks so much!

  16. This is great information and very helpful! Thank you for sharing!

    1. Thanks so much- happy to share it!

  17. This is awesome Pooja! I feel like that sometimes. My site stats are low, I run out of options, and I feel way in over my head sometimes.

I try to do things my audience likes, but it’s so low that I don’t know where to start.

Also, is it too late to change what I want to talk about on my blog? I really love crocheting but I haven’t found its place yet on the blog which saddens me. Maybe lifestyle?

It’s great to see that there’s others like me in this situation and it inspires me to keep going so thank you all. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much!

I definitely understand that feeling because I felt that way too when I first started blogging. But things definitely get better over time.

It’s never too late to change your niche and you can even write about multiple things if that would work better for you. Lifestyle is great too 😀

  19. Great post Pooja! Thanks.

    1. Thanks so much!

  20. Informative post💕

    1. Thanks so much ☺

  21. Thanks for these tips! Blogging can definitely be demotivating sometimes because it surely takes a lot of time to come up with a blog post idea, find the right pictures, do some research, etc. I personally don’t really have goals for blogging (I mainly do it for myself, to keep track of my trips – and if it can be useful for others then it’s even better), so it’s not always easy to be consistent!

    1. I definitely agree that it’s a lot of work and I think yours would be even more so since you use so many images from your trips. However, it’s still worth it I think and I for one always enjoy your posts!

  22. I blog because I need it. I quit several times but the urge to express myself always comes back. I try to keep myself motivated because I see no alternative way to creating content. I never run out of inspiration. I decided to invest more time into artworks and stories. Usual I do only poetry. But to get your site SEO friendly is a hard task. Google still isn’t a big friend of mine.

    1. I feel the same way about blogging. It’s the creative outlet I need. SEO is extremely difficult but I’m getting the hang of it and it’s helping.

  24. Thank you for this inspiring post. I will definitely try harder not to fixate on the stats and just to keep blogging even when feeling a little demotivated and also soak up as much information as possible to grow and become better

    1. My pleasure and yes that helps a lot.
