Tips For Living Your Best Life Despite Your Anxiety

Anxiety And It’s Effect On Your Life

Anxiety, much like most mental health problems, affects every aspect of your life. It can destroy your social life and pretty much every other aspect of your life. It may also stop you from trying something new or from stepping out of your comfort zone. This is a pretty common occurrence for people with anxiety and unfortunately it’s hard to control your anxiety especially when you’re stepping out of your comfort zone.

I’ve gotten a comment or two before asking me how I stepped out of my comfort despite having anxiety and what tips I would give them to do the same. So, today I thought I would write an entire post on that because I know a lot of people with anxiety struggle with leaving their comfort zone and I hope this helps those people.

Get Help/Help Yourself

The first tip I have is to get help so that you can at least learn to handle your symptoms. With a lot of mental health disorders it’s not possible to completely get rid of them. I know that I’m always going to have to live with my anxiety and the best thing I can do is try to control and decrease the symptoms as much as possible.

If you haven’t gotten any medical or professional help yet I would recommend going to a professional at least once so that they can give you a proper diagnosis. The reason I say this is because self-diagnosing can be dangerous especially to yourself. A lot of symptoms are common in multiple disorders and having anxiety does not necessarily mean you have an anxiety disorder. You would rather talk to someone who is trained in the field because they can give you an accurate diagnosis.

A medical professional can also help you in other ways like helping you get the best medication or if you choose not to take medication they can help you pick the best alternative routes for you.

However, various natural supplements can influence your nervous system and control your fight-or-flight anxiety response if you choose the medication approach. For instance, natural plant supplements such as Delta 8 vapes can help you deal with the physical symptoms to ease your anxiety. It is worth mentioning that anxiety may present differently for two individuals with even the same diagnosis. So it is crucial to take a personalized approach to navigate your anxiety supplements.

Say “Shut Up”

Sometimes, when it comes to anxiety it’s all about controlling your mind. I’m not exactly an expert at this yet but it’s something I have been working on that has been helping me. If your brain is throwing some anxiety your way, whether it’s about something or just random feelings of anxiety, tune it out and continue on with your life.

Your brain only has power over you if you let it have that power. Try to control your mind and don’t let it control you. I know that’s a lot easier said than done especially at first but don’t give up and keep going. There are some methods that people use to help them with this such as meditation and yoga. I don’t know where I would be without meditation if I’m being honest. Over time, it has truly helped me feel more grounded and in control of my mind. It’s difficult at first so if you would prefer to do a guided meditation instead of on your own where. you can be easily distracted feel free to check out my services page by clicking here. I offer guided meditations where I would guide and help you meditate. I think it would be a great option for beginners because I know it’s hard to keep your mind still and in the moment at first. It took me months to get to where I am now.

Baby Steps

Although it’s good to get out of your comfort zone and try new things, it’s also important to take baby steps and not push yourself too far. Sometimes when we push our mind too far all at once we end up doing more damage than good. You may experience even harsher symptoms of anxiety as a result.

That’s why I try to always recommend taking baby steps. If you have social anxiety don’t just go to a club all of a sudden one night. Go to lunch or dinner first, then hang out with some people, try to meet new people and when you’re absolutely ready take bigger steps.

Breathe

You’re probably thinking- “oh wow breathe, such fantastic advice because I never do that already.” I thought that too when I first started reading about breathing techniques. I thought it was one of those dumb things influencers say because it’s “in” or whatever.

Turns out I was wrong. I did just need to breathe. However, not regular breathing. You need to find a technique that works for you and try deep breathing. There are lots of helpful breathing techniques listed and explained in this article. Feel free to check them out and use whichever helps the most.

Conclusion

I hope this post was beneficial for anyone suffering from anxiety and thinking that they may no longer be able to live the life they wanted. Anxiety is only a stepping stone on your way to your best life. Of course, some things are going to have to change but you don’t need to sacrifice your happiness or give up on it.

  1. Awesome Post!!!

    1. Only thing I would say that if you have a designation for doing guided meditation (training) then it’s good. But, if you do not have training, this is bordering on practice without a license…which can give you trouble. Just an observation.

      1. Although official meditation licenses I do have a certificate from a course I took a while back.

        1. Have you had supervised practice? Was course specifically how to or someone doing it? Just don’t want to see you in trouble. Counselling sorts in Canada get irate when people put up a shingle without requisite training….but not sure about laws of Kenya on that.

          1. Yes the course was specifically so that I can work as a meditation teacher. I totally understand but meditation doesn’t really need very specific qualifications even in Canada other than some minimum requirements and definitely not in Kenya.

            1. Just for consideration of further upgrading and doesn’t pay half bad either.

              1. Thanks, appreciate the info 😊

    2. Thank you!

  4. These are wonderful tips!

I used breathing techniques last week to help myself out of a panic attack when we were doing active shooter training and they were amping up the stress to simulate a live situation. I knew I’d likely have anxiety so I took two CBD capsules beforehand but I didn’t count on how I’d get triggered. I had to go sit down and do my breath work and took a couple more capsules. When they moved into scenario #2, I had to leave. Strangely enough I can have a level head in some emergency situations.

Knowing our limits is important, and in normal situations of life we can work on gradually pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones. Emergency situations are different. If we see something developing then it’s probably better we leave so we don’t become a liability.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Oh that’s great. CBD is so insanely helpful too. It’s good to know when you’re in a situation you can’t handle and when you need to step back. Sometimes leaving your comfort zone works and other times it’s just not possible.

      1. I totally agree! I was surprised by how intensely it hit me but staying wasn’t an option. My mental health was more important.

  5. Spending time in nature and meeting cute dogs really helps me with anxiety. Also the little interactions with the owners also help me with social anxiety.

    1. Oh that’s great! I love seeing dogs on my walks too.

  6. A great share Pooja!!
I am really happy to read your blogs on a regular basis. You are doing fantabulous job. About the blog, I never faced anxiety so I won’t say much about this topic. I was wondering, if workout, meditation and proper diet helps in anxiety?
Also, we should be focusing on things we love and want to do. I guess that’s the best thing.

    1. Thanks so much and so happy to hear that! Yes, working out and meditation as well as a healthy diet does help those with anxiety and other mental illnesses.
