SEO For Dummies
SEO is one of the things I get the most questions about. It’s also the thing that most bloggers are at least somewhat confused about. As you can tell from this heading, this is not my first time talking about SEO. In fact, it’s my fourth! Feel free to check out the rest of the posts if you haven’t already.

SEO can also be just as time consuming to research and implement as it can be difficult to understand. Therefore a lot of bloggers tend to ignore it. I do understand this decision and actually think that it is the right way to go when it comes to blogging if you are doing it purely as a hobby.
However, if you are hoping to grow your blog and especially if you are hoping to make money through your blog, SEO may just be vital for you. It can help you grow your blog as well as get noticed by potential clients or sponsors. But more on that later. First, let’s look into what SEO actually is:
What Is SEO?
“SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results.”- moz.com
I think this sums up SEO and what is really well so I’m going to just leave it at that. If you would like to read more about SEO and get further information on it please feel free to use the link I have added to do so.
Why Is SEO Important?
As mentioned above SEO can help you not only increase your traffic from search engines but also help you increase your traffic to a more specific audience. It helps you get an audience that is specifically looking for sites like yours. WordPress is awesome and I love connecting with other bloggers but just having WP traffic isn’t always enough especially if you are looking to blog professionally at some point. SEO gets you this outside traffic from search engines and helps you build your blog and diversifies the audience.
One thing I would like to mention before we get into this post is that SEO changes take a while for Search Engines to pick up. Although some are picked up much faster (a few days or weeks), some may take months or even years for Search Engines like Google to pick up. Therefore, start with making your blog SEO friendly as fast as possible and try not to get discouraged if you don’t see positive results instantly. Your blog will grow, it will just take some time because SEO is more longterm.
Here are some easy and simple ways through which you can improve your SEO:
Activity
Being active is a big part of SEO. There are multiple ways you can show Search Engines that you and your site are both active.
Firstly, you want to make sure that your site constantly looks like it is getting traffic. Search Engines want to share sites, especially on their first page, that are popular and that people find valuable and relevant. If your site is constantly getting traffic, followers and comments, Search Engines will assume that you have something to offer readers that they are looking for.
Secondly, you along with your blog want to look active. Search Engines love it when you are continuously going back to older posts to keep them SEO friendly and reader friendly. This shows Search Engines that your site is not only still active but also up to date which is something they are looking for.

Title
Your title is one of the most important parts of your blog. Not only for SEO but all around. The first thing your reader sees is your title and that is what makes them decide whether to read your blog post or not.
When it comes to SEO, Search Engines tend to put a lot of importance on your title. In particular, they look for keywords and how those keywords are used in your title if you have used any at all that is. Keywords are vital both in your blog post as well as in your title.
You want to make sure that every title you write has a keyword in it and those keywords are again use throughout your blog post.
I have talked about keywords in general in one of my other SEO posts so I won’t go into too much detail. However, do try to be very aware of keywords and how you use them because they could absolutely make or break your site. Using keywords correctly can do wonders for your traffic. This I sbecause if your keyword rankings improve you can get your posts on the first page of Search Engines. In fact, I recently was able to do that myself for multiple keywords. I even talked about my first keyword achievement on this post.

Loading Time
Loading time is very important for any site for multiple reasons including that it effects your SEO. Let’s be honest, people these days have the concentration span of a cat on catnip. Most people don’t have the patience to wait for your site to load even if it takes longer than a couple of seconds. If your site doesn’t load instantly, research has shown that most people will not wait for it to load. They will rather just go to a different site which loads faster.
Search Engines take into consideration your loading time on both the desktop as well as on mobiles. The ideal load time is considered to be less than 2.5 seconds. Anything more than that is considered poor loading time. If you are not aware of your exact loading time, some of the SEO services I offer do also include loading time data. I also offer improvement strategies so feel free to look at my services page which will be linked at the end of the post.
If your load time is not under 2.5 seconds, consider making some improvements to help decrease your it . And trust me it will do wonders for your site, especially longterm!
Conclusion
I hope you found this post beneficial. SEO posts are always requested by people but I hate doing the research and then writing everything out so I try to avoid them, lol. But occasionally I have to give the people what they want, I guess.
