Addis Ababa Part 1

Since we were in Ethiopia for 2 days we decided to do a little exploring. We asked at the hotel what places we should visit and he gave us a map with the most popular tourist destinations and so we decided to check them out.

First we decided to head to Entoto Hill which has the most beautiful view of Addis Ababa. It was absolutely gorgeous!!

Also around that area was a cathedral and a smaller museum that we absolutely loved!

Next we hurried to the National Museum which was going to close soon. It was absolutely fascinating. Different floors had different exhibitions. The first floor had archeological artifacts, the second floor had paintings and art and the ground floor had paleontological replicas and bones.

Then we did a little shopping and got a few beautiful souvenirs to remember this wonderful trip by. We even explored the hotel which was filled with amazing art and culture.

Also I really have to say that one of the reasons we had such a great time was because the people there were so great! They were super friendly and helpful and inviting. Plus, they were so proud of the culture they had managed to preserve for all these years and they were just happy to share it with us as we were to learn about it!

A No From The Universe

If you’re wondering why I haven’t posted in a while it’s because the universe hates me. My laptop’s screen broke again and I had to get it replaced. Luckily I’ve got it back now and it’s fine.

Anyway, just wanted to give you a little update on what’s going on with me. On Thursday, we decided to go to this place called Village Market and it ended up being super fun! It has a really artsy vibe and it’s just such a fun place although it’s really big so it takes forever to get from one end to the other!

We ended up going to one of my favourite bookstores in Kenya called Between The Lines which is just so pretty!

ELF BB Cream With SPF 20 Review

I have started using this product for a few weeks now and I decided to do a little review about it because I was so freaking impressed! Now if you’ve read any of my other makeup posts you’ll know I love ELF and it’s my favourite vegan and cruelty free beauty brand right now. It was so affordable, honestly, when I first bought an e.l.f product I was like that’s suspicious like do they not have good quality products but they do!

Anyway, back to the BB cream, I was again a little skeptical because I’m not a big fan of BB creams or foundation because I have pretty dry skin and a lot of foundations and BB creams I tried prior to this ended up making my skin look even dryer and sometimes flaky.

I bought the product a while back but I didn’t actually try it till I got back to Kenya and I was left speechless (which is shocking for me I talk about everything including the taste of water). To begin with it was so creamy and beautiful it made my skin look not only hydrated but radiant and my face seemed to glow! I have NEVER used a foundation or BB cream that made me look like that and I was always trying to look for products to make me look like that.

Secondly, the product had an amazing coverage for a BB cream- usually I have do like 2 layers with BB cream to get that much coverage but this had the coverage of a foundation! Although I do have to point out that I don’t have any acne or scars or noticeable marks on my face I just have some discolouration so I don’t need that much coverage- if you do have any of the above use a concealer as well as the BB cream because even though it does have great coverage it’s not a concealer. But anyway, it did cover up my skin really well.

Thirdly, it was so lightweight and natural looking that you can totally wear it on a daily basis and no one would even realise you’re wearing any makeup! It blends really well and looks so natural you just look like you have a nice natural glow.

Lastly, it costs $6.00 and weighs 285ml which is super affordable even for a drugstore brand! It’s also packaged really well so you can easily travel with it or carry it around with you in case you want to retouch your makeup although honestly, I wear it all day sometimes and it doesn’t move an inch.

FINAL THOUGHTS: To sum it up I was super impressed with this product! It’s really affordable, has an amazing formula, works for both dry and oily skin plus as an extra added bonus it’s both vegan and cruelty free!

5 Things To Always Have In Your Carry-On

I’ve been travelling a lot lately and I’ve noticed that there are some things that you just absolutely need to carry with you- and no I learned the hard way that these do not include all 7 Harry Potter books…

Image result for hand sanitizer and tissues

1. Hand sanitizer and tissues- Let’s be honest, travelling isn’t the most hygienic thing ever and it’s a really good idea to have some sanitizer and tissues with you because you never know when you’ll need them. Plus, it’s always a good idea to sanitize your hands before eating something even if you are using cutlery.

2. An extra pair of clothes- In case, and this is the worst case scenario, you end up losing your luggage or exchanging it by mistake or it comes later on it’s good to have a fresh pair of clothes with you because you will want to freshen up after your journey.

3. Your cellphone– Our lives revolve around technology these days and your cellphone is probably the most important one of all. It has all your information, contacts etc and you do not want to end up losing it so always keep it with you. Plus, you never know when you might need it!

Image result for headphones

4. Headphones- This is just in case you end up sitting next to someone a little too friendly. Also listening to music is a good distraction if you get travel anxiety.

5. Makeup- You are at some point going to need a touch up so remember to carry some makeup products with you. Not all your makeup of course but just the 5/6 items you are likely to use that day. If you don’t wear makeup carry some moisturizer because your skin can really dry out during a long journey!

How I Saved My Skin

For as long as I can remember I’ve always had pretty dry skin. As a kid I had a little bit of an eczema problem but luckily (fingers crossed!) I’m okay now but I still have really sensitive and dry skin. I try to avoid using a lot of chemicals on my skin and I only rarely do full face makeup. Even though a lot of companies swear that their products work for people with sensitive skin they don’t usually work for me. However, a few months ago I subscribed to Ipsy and got my first Ipsy Bag. I’m not going to lie, it was kind of disappointing and even though the products I got were good they just weren’t what I was looking for at the moment. But, there was one thing that blew my mind away! That was the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. Again, I’m going to be honest and say that I had actually not heard of FAB before this so I did what any normal human would do- I Googled.

Turns out FAB creates all these amazing products for people with sensitive skin. So I began using the lotion and to my surprise it made my skin so much better! It didn’t look all dead and dry anymore and it actually had a healthy glow to it! Plus, the lotion is so light you don’t even feel like you have something on your face which is awesome because a lot of products are heavy and it feels like you have so much product on your face! I use it on a daily basis- once after I take a shower and once before I go to sleep at night. The one I get is travel sized so I can carry it around with me and take it with me when I travel! However, they do have a bigger size in case you’re interested.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this product with you in case you’re suffering from any skin problems and need to find products for sensitive skin. This is just something I found and I thought I would share with you guys!

You NEED the MakeupEraser

Southern Girl Blogging

Hello out there in reader land! Here’s a note to my beauties and those who love makeup and clean skin. Last night, your devoted southern blogger got to sample the MakeUp Eraser, boasted to completely clean allll of your mascara, dark liner, foundation, and even the sweat and crud off without soap. Just wet this special REUSABLE cloth and wipe away! AND it’s REUSABLE for 3-5 years. You can imagine my apprehension and eye roll at this claim. This little pink square sample arrived in the mail all fuzzy (like a scary ‘70s shag carpet) and my eye roll became an eye and neck roll. AS IF this little square was going to clean MY heavy diva makeup face down to clean. So I piled on that mascara, the false lashes (with black glue) and liner, used my waterproof foundation and spritzed with a nice finishing spray to seal the deal…
