How To Be You

Don’t listen

When they tell you what to love

Don’t listen

When they tell you what to hate

Don’t listen

When they tell you who to love

Don’t listen

When they tell you who to hate

Don’t listen

When they tell you what to do

Don’t listen

When they tell you how to feel

Don’t listen

When they tell you how to live

Question everything

“How To Be You” is a poem that first appeared on Lifesfinewhine. The older I get, the more I crave wanting to be my authentic self. As a teenager I think we are all pressured to be a certain way. Anything out of the norm is ridiculed. However, the older I get the more I realise that my real self is what makes me happy. I like how I am and who I am. “How To Be You” is inspired by this growing urge within me to unapologetically be myself. Hope you enjoy the poem and let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below.

    1. De omnibus dubitandum- I read that some time ago and have decided to live by it because that is the only way you can live an organic life😁😁

  2. Whole industries exist to tell people what to think. Advertising, what to buy, PR what to think and believe; too many of us have our minds taken over by these.

    1. That is so true. There’s a large part of the media telling us what to look like and act like and unfortunately too many people fall for it but it’s important to know yourself and what’s truly right and wrong.
