Six Word Story #188

Six Word Story:

I am not a decorous person…

Today’s Word:

Decorous

1: Decorous means “marked by propriety and good taste; correct.” A person or thing that is decorous conforms to an approved or conventional standard.

More about the word.

Have you heard this word before? Have you used this word before? Let me know in the comments below! This was a new-ish word to me. Like I have definitely heard it before or read it somewhere but I have never used it myself. Thanks to the Six Word Story posts I am able to use this word and many more words I would never use in general. As for the above Six Word Story, I am not a decorous person in anyway. I hate norms and tend to do whatever I feel like. Or rather what I feel is best. I would rather be happy than please anyone else 🤷🏻‍♀️

PS: I know I keep using my own pictures for posts but it’s only because I am too tired to make cover images lol. Not because I am obsessed with myself! I mean I am but that’s not what this is…

  1. I am not a decorous person either, but I do have high standards, but not to please anyone except myself. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.

    1. I give decorous a bad look.

    2. That’s great, it’s best to live for ourselves. Have a great weekend too.

  2. I like your photos, keep them coming, Pooja! ☺️ I can’t say that I am decorous either…

    1. Aww thanks haha 😊

  3. For a moment there, I thought of the word to have a meaning similar to decorating.

Anyways, I feel like everyone is decorous and fear is just preventing us from admitting it.

New cool word to add to my vocabulary. Thanks, Pooja.

    1. Haha yes it does sound similar. Thanks so much.

  4. Decorous actions are normally quite bland. Btw beautiful pic!

          1. in time for their new tricks on halloween.,. Yikes beware😫

            1. WordPress is secretly the killer (of blogs) 😂🔪

              1. Sounds like a 6 word story 😂

                1. Absolutely not, if I publish that WP will delete my site 😂

                  1. 🙀 alrighty scrap that!!😹

That’s a great message! I think less decorous people tend to be more down to earth. It’s weird to say that as a compliment without sounding insulting, but I say that through a place of love and appreciation. Thanks for educating through only 6 words.

    1. Thanks so much. That’s so sweet of you to say.

  8. Beautiful images.

    1. Thanks so much.

  9. Amazing post ✨

    1. Thank you 😊

  10. Decorous men watch dainty women sunbathe.

    1. Yes, they do.

      1. Haha! I know! Because I’m not dainty by any means.

        1. Lol but you’re so beautiful so it doesn’t matter!

          1. Haha! I’ll take it, Pooja! Thank you!

            1. You’re very welcome!

  11. I have never heard of this word. Thanks for sharing Pooja

    1. My pleasure, glad this word was a new one to you.

  12. Beautiful pictures!

    1. Thank you!

    1. Thank you.

  13. I totally forgot about the word after seeing the pic.
You look adorable. Your hair looks smooth and soft
And would you like to give some tips for skin??
Kindly keep sharing. These kind of cover pics are the best. Tons of positivity ☀️.
About the word, I have no clue what to write 😅

    1. Thanks so much. Lol it’s just good genes I literally do nothing for my skin. I do use vaseline sometimes because though because it’s the best moisturiser. 😊

      1. I guess it’s appropriate to say
        Keep shining 😁

  14. Decorous sounds like an elegant word! Selfie pics are great. They’re fun and I take selfies with my kiddos all the time. I feel like they’re fun memory makers. Now as I’m getting older I get a little chocked by what I see sometimes but oh well, it’s part of life, right?! Good times.

    1. It’s a very classy sounding word for sure. Yeah selfies are fun and raging is just a part of life!

      1. Nice! Yep, I like your expression “raging” and raging to keep life fun and upbeat.

        1. Haha I meant axing but raging works too 😂

  15. I’m not a decorous person either…

    1. Glad to hear that.

  16. Nice Post
    Thanks

    1. Thanks so much.

  17. Decorous decorators show elan not panache.

It’s hard to find the word alone in a positive sense — it seems to be used in contrast to a negative background as in Ruth Orkin’s “Girl in Italy” where she is decorous and they are not. It’s sort of like the word “sanguine” where people commonly say “not sanguine”.

    1. True, it sounds like a negative way of describing people.

  18. Never heard this word before! Decorous, the first thing that comes to my mind is decor or decoration hahaha. Well, there is nothing wrong with being obsessed with yourself and I can drink for that! as always you look gorgeous in the picture, this haircut is top notch👌🏻👌🏻

It doesn’t take much to be decorous.

    1. Haha yeah it sounds a little like decorate! Thanks so much 😊

  19. beautiful pic pooja

    1. Thank you so much

  20. Hiii, well this is definitely a new word for me.

  22. decorous to me: t-shirt, shorts, sneakers…

    1. Haha I feel the same way.

  23. I guess i dangle somewhere somewhere between decorous and non decorous 😂. Love this word, btw!

    1. That’s the best way to be lol 😜

  24. I’ve definitely heard this word before, yet not in a while. Cool post, Pooja. I like this!

    1. Thanks so much!

  25. I learnt “decorous” today from Lifesfinewhine❤️

    1. Yay, happy to hear that ❤️

  26. Please others by pleasing yourself “individually”.

    1. Absolutely.

  27. I heard of this word, but I just thought it is like a decoration or something…Thank you for showing me the unconventional or conventional side of the word. I guess I am a person who try to be decorous but can’t, and end up screaming…

    1. Haha most of us are trying to be decorous but are unsuccessful.

  28. I am the polar opposite of decorous. And no, I.have never heard that word before.

    1. Same here, and glad it was new to you.

  29. I am also like that.

    1. Glad it’s not just me.

  30. learnt a new word today

    1. Happy to hear that.

  31. I would say I’m not decorous, but I still live in my society and use their products that get blasted in my face everyday. I stopped trying to apply particular standards onto me and others.

It was something apart of the CBT where it said when you judge others, you’re basing it of your standards (this is a very liberal definition) so I tried thinking about all the stuff that bugs me and didn’t try to force it on myself. It’s still a working progress, but I gave up on a lot of mindsets that made me feel small and pathetic or like I wasn’t trying to do things.🤷🏾

    1. It’s hard to live fully ethically in an unethical society. In fact, it’s pretty impossible not to give in to certain standards at least occasionally.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Glad you’re changed your mindsets that are doing you harm.

      1. It’s made my life 2% easier and has gotten me a lot more help from people, but we all are a working progress.

        1. That’s great. It means you’re moving in the right direction.

  32. It’s a beautiful picture by the way.

    1. Thanks so much.

  33. Missed you Pooja! 💕C

    1. Missed you too! 🤗

  34. Her decorous ways border on pretentious.

    1. Ooh good one.

    1. Thanks so much.

  35. Sarah gave David a decorous kiss.
    Lovely word

    1. Love your SWS.

  36. I had to come back to comment on the picture. It is lovely 💞

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  37. I don’t recall ever hearing that word before. I don’t think it describes me, I like to think I’m a little bit of abnormal.

    1. I think we are all a little abnormal.

  38. That is a decorous feature pic!

    1. Thank you!

  39. No room for decorous deeds here.

    1. Love that SWS.

  40. I have good taste in teacups 😂 and food! That’s all I can be responsible for!

    1. Haha at least there’s that 😂

  41. Great story and that’s a new word to me. I suppose it makes sense that its meaning is parallel to “decorum.”

“The decorous woman preferred coarse company.”

    1. Thanks so much and I love your SWS too.

      1. You’re welcome!

  42. I hope my blog is decorous. 🙂
