What I Eat In A Day #14

What I Eat In A Day

What I Eat In A Day

I know a lot of my readers enjoy my food related posts so I decided to do another “What I Eat In A Day” post today. I don’t know why but every time I do one of these posts I just end up making Indian food lol. Honestly, I swear I eat other stuff too. But to be fair I do eat a lot of Indian dishes these days.

Anyway, as always, everything mentioned is plant based/vegan.

For breakfast I had an orange and some chamomile tea. As usual, I forgot to record it. I mean, it’s way too early in the morning you guys. Who has time to plug in the ring light and set everything up that early. So, you know the drill. Just use your imagination and imagine me eating an orange and drinking some tea. I love oranges by the way, they’re my favourite fruit.

What I Eat In A Day

For lunch, I wanted to eat something simple, filling and hearty. So, I decided to make some oil-free beans and rice. We generally call it beans and bhaat in my language (Gujarati). And I believe in Hindi they call it rajma chawal.

Anyway, the beans and rice turned out perfect. Especially the beans. They were so delicious and just one of the best comfort foods. I had the meal with some cut up cucumbers, avocado and onions for fresh breath all day…

What I Eat In A Day Vegan

For dinner, we made some matar tofu and naan. Usually people make matar paneer but paneer is made of dairy so I replaced it with tofu. The curry turned out perfect. It was so incredibly delicious. Here’s my recipe for the matar tofu if anyone is interested:

The naan was really great too. I ended up having like two naan’s and a bit of leftover rice with the matar tofu curry. It was such a satisfying meal.

Both big meals for the day were so delicious. I would so recommend trying the matar tofu recipe if you haven’t. It’s relatively simple and won’t take that much time to make. If you enjoyed this post and would like to see the video version of what I eat in a day, you can view it here:

I’d be super appreciative if you like, comment and share the post. I’m still getting started on YouTube and any sort of interactions helps a lot. Thank you in advance!

Have you had any of the dishes I mentioned? Do you like any of the foods I mentioned today? What did you eat today? Let me know in the comments below because I would love to hear your answers! Or simply stop by and say hi.

    1. Haha yes, absolutely 😊

  12. Rajma Chawal is very popular in north India, but I like a combination of Dal Chawal more. Kadhi Chawal and Chhole Chawal are two other popular combinations in India. Have you tried these dishes?

    1. I don’t like dal very much but I do like kadhi chawal and whole chawal.

      1. Kadhi is either made with buttermilk or curd and you are a vegan, how do you make Kadhi then?

        1. I use vegan yogurt made from coconut. It works the same as regular yogurt.

  13. I love vegetarian food. Though I take dairy too. So paneer is a good substitution. Besides finding tofu here is difficult. Your food looks great.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, paneer is a wonderful option for those that eat dairy.

      1. I love it, both fried and in its natural form

        1. Yes, it’s delicious cooked and uncooked. Lovely addition to many dishes. I used to have it a lot before going vegan.

          1. Thanks for sharing your menu. Great ideas

            1. My pleasure, I always enjoy sharing these.

              1. 🙏🏼🩵🙏🏼

  14. Lunch and dinner dishes appear to be irresistibly yummy. That’s why you did a sort of overeating with two naans and leftover rice.

    1. Thanks so much. Haha yes, I believe so.

  15. Beans and matar paneer looks delicious Pooja 😊

    1. Thank you so much, they were 😊

  16. Everything looked delicious. I have never really had Indian food, but I really don’t eat a lot of spicy foods either. The beans and rice looked good. I didn’t know you could use Tofu in different ways. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, tofu can be used as a substitute and it tastes wonderful that way. Have a great one too.

  17. I seriously wonder how one can eat that less and still look that pretty 😍

    Well Indian food is good

Your rajma chawal looks delicious. Then matar tofu is interesting as well. I don’t like the taste of tofu, but the food looks great. Cook me this some day.
I had matar paneer yesterday 😛
So basically you have 2.5 meal a day!
How come you are not hungry during evening?

      1. Happy Friendship Day 🤗

    2. I think I eat enough for someone who doesn’t exercise that much 😅

Thanks so much. Haha guess we at very similar meals 😉

I have the biggest appetite in my family. Everyone else eats less than me lol. I don’t like snacking and I don’t have that habit so I don’t get hungry between meals.

      1. So there are people who eat lesser than you ? Wah

        1. Literally most people I know.

  18. Yum! Lowkey craving Indian food now 😋

    1. Indian food just hits the spot 😫

  19. I love beans and rice. Such a tasty combo.

      1. Oops. No problem Pooja !

  21. I had a frozen pizza, jhahahahaha. A little different I guess 🙂

    1. Still good, lol. Can’t go wrong with pizza 🙂

  22. All the dishes look legit. I would like to try them all 🙂 Today I had mango and peach for breakfast, school provided McDonalds chicken sandwich for lunch, and I had leftover vegetables for dinner with Asian pears. I am loving the food scene here, great variety of fresh produce is incomparable to any other place I have been!

    1. Thanks so much. Wow, that sounds really good too. Looks like you’re getting a great amount of fruits and veggies over there. I’ve always wanted to try Asian pears, I heard they’re delicious.

      1. A lot of fiber

        1. I see, that’s so great for digestion.

          1. And so quit on the exit

  25. I love Indian food and all of this looks fantastic!

  26. Looks delicious.

    1. Thanks so much.

  27. Looks so good! Rajma Chawal has to be one of my all time favourite recipes. As a vegan, I love such posts since they give me ideas for vegan meals.

    1. Thanks so much! Rajma chawal is one of the best meals to have as a vegan since it’s packed with protein and flavour. Same here, I love food related posts cos I get ideas for my own vegan meals!

  28. Love that you are getting started on Youtube! This food looks delicious. <3

    1. Thank you so much! It was amazing 😊

  29. Love your matar tofu. Tofu is best prepared with Indian sauce or Indian spices. Since tofu doesn’t have much flavor by itself and doesn’t allow the flavor to get inside quickly. So the Indian spice and sauce and stewing for a bit longer time all make sense in the preparation of tofu. They are the match made in heaven.

    1. Thanks so much. I very much agree. Since tofu has no flavour on its own it works well with dishes that are more heavily spiced and cooked for longer times. I hope you try this recipe, I think you’ll enjoy it.

  30. Beans and bhaat are one of my fav meals. It’s healthy and tasty 😋 I always like to have it with some salad but since tomatoes got as expensive as gold, we have stopped having salad. 😐 We now have curd after lunch and a small piece of jaggery after dinner.

    1. Same, although bhaat is like my favourite thing in the world so I can eat it with almost everything 😅
Haha yes, the prices for tomatoes are crazy right now over there so it’s not possible to eat them often. I love jaggery and have small pieces of it after meals sometimes too 😊

  31. I love naan 🫓

    1. It’s so good 😋

  32. I watched the vegan Matar video and can’t wait to make it. My mouth is watering!

    1. Let me know how yours turns out! I’m sure you’ll love it.

  33. I absolutely love Indian food and everything you made looks so good!

    1. Thanks so much!

  34. Love when you make this type of post. Great video!

    1. Thanks so much!

  35. I like the foods you eat, they are delicious.
Rice and beans is one of my favourite dishes.

    1. Thank you so much. Mine too. It’s so hearty and delicious.

  36. Your food always looks and sounds so good! I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but I’ve got to say, I’d try that! (Just no gluten, please!!! 😜)

    1. Thanks so much! Everything is also gluten free except the naan so feel free to try the curry recipe 😊

  37. Looks delicious 👍

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  38. I need this!! So delicious!! 😍

    1. I’ll make some for you the next time you visit!! 🥰

  39. Mmmm… Mouth watering! The Naan must be delicious and looks like healthy ingredients as well. The bean -rice dish is so creatively decorated. Thanks for sharing this Pooja.

    1. Everything was so delicious especially the beans and rice. Thanks so much!

  40. Yummy! I’m sure this is why people lie these posts!

    1. Thanks so much!

  41. The meals look delicious, Pooja, especially the beans and rice. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much 😊

  42. Looks delicious! And doable, I really need to try more Indian dishes at home

    1. Thanks! Definitely do, especially the beans and matar tofu curries. They were both so good.

  43. It is funny that when you post about Indian food, it coincides roughly with the last time I ate Indian food. That just means we both eat a lot of Indian food, though. 😅 I first discovered it while living in Arizona; it’s far more prevalent there. When I moved back home, I couldn’t find anywhere reasonably close to acquire chettinad or hyderabadi dishes. Now that a few more places have opened up, I’m making up for lost time.

    1. Haha that’s a cool coincidence 😅 That sounds amazing. We don’t get Chettinad food here either. We mostly get North Indian, Gujarati and Punjabi foods. That’s awesome, glad you have some good options now.

  44. Glad you’re eating healthy. Looks good.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, I’m trying to eat healthy the majority of the time and I really don’t mind since I grew up eating healthy and am used to the taste.

  45. I love Indian food, so I’m happy to read these posts. 😍

    1. So glad you enjoy them 😊

  46. Congrats on the YouTube channel. Really seems to support the post nicely. Hope you’re enjoying it …

    1. Thanks so much, I am.

  47. Rice and beans 🤤 any day

    1. Such a hearty and delicious meal 😋
