How To Grow Your WordPress Blog
Can you believe 2023 is almost over? I can’t. Time really does fly. However, we still have a couple of months left till the years ends. And I’m going to show you how to grow your WordPress blog before 2023 ends:
SEO
In my opinion, SEO is one of the best ways to grow your blog. It takes a few months before you start seeing results but once you’re on the right path your blog grows really fast. If you feel stuck with blogging or feel like your blog isn’t growing fast enough, SEO is the way to go.
Some bloggers have abandoned their site due to how difficult WordPress has become to use. Many jumped ship when the largely hated “Block Editor” was introduced. Others left when the format of WordPress changed. More left as more platforms began popping up offering them a better experience for less or no money. And some of these platforms like Medium offered people more money than WordAds ever will. So understandably, WordPress has really lost a large number of bloggers recently.
Since, growing your blog on WordPress has become difficult to do when you rely on just WordPress traffic, many bloggers choose to look for other ways to drive traffic to their site. And that’s where SEO comes in. Search Engine Optimisation allows you to get more traffic from Search Engines. It’s a great way to increase traffic and consequently following.
However, the problem is that SEO is very tricky. When done correctly it can do wonders for your site. For example, last year I was able to almost double my Search Engine traffic from the previous year. However, when done incorrectly SEO can actually do a lot of damage. And your blog can even end up being blacklisted or shadow banned from Search Engine results.

I won’t go into too many details on how to make your site SEO friendly because I already have a lot of posts about that. You can use the links in the “related posts” section to view these posts and learn how to make your site SEO friendly. However, be careful because as I mentioned one wrong move can really mess up your site permanently.

Activity
When it comes to blogging, I’ve noticed that it’s really a two way street. The more active you are on other blogs, the more activity you will see on your own blog. Now, be careful not to mindlessly spam people with likes and comments. Be genuine about your activity.
Another thing is that you need to be active on your own blog too. Share posts regularly and preferably on a schedule so your readers know when to check for the next new post. And they know you’re not going to abandon them (many bloggers do abandon their blogs which really sucks). And if someone leaves a comment, make sure to interact with them.
This isn’t a brag but one of the reasons I get the traffic I get from WordPress is because I’m very active on my own blog. I like to chat in the comments and try my best to make everyone feel welcome to share their thoughts. Even though I share posts about a number of topics that not everyone would be interested in, I see a lot of people come back post after post and leave positive comments. The community is a huge part of WordPress and we take supporting one another seriously.

Trends
This one is pretty obvious but also optional. If you would like to get more traffic and followers, you may want to start taking a note of trends and share posts depending on what is currently trending. Current trends always get the most views and they often get pushed by the algorithm too. So, for example, if it’s mental health awareness month or something like that you may want to write more posts about mental health and use related hashtags so the algorithm can pick up your posts.
However, as I said this one is optional. The thing is that a lot of people blog as a hobby or have a very specific niche for their blog. And trends may not fit that niche. And even if they do, I don’t think everyone enjoys writing on specific trending topics. I think some people prefer to write what they want to write about and that’s okay too. At the end of the day, it’s your blog. Do what makes you happy.

Conclusion
And that is how to grow your WordPress blog before 2023 ends. However, I do want to emphasise something. Growth doesn’t happen overnight unless you’re incredibly lucky. It takes time, patience and a whole lot of hard work. If you’re willing to be patient and put in the time and effort, you will see results. But at the end of the day you should also try to enjoy the process of blogging. It’s all about enjoying what you do.
