I received something really special in the mail a while ago thanks to Brian from Iridium Spear. If you’re not familiar with his blog maybe it’s time to get familiar with it because it’s really great. He writes about a variety of topics and I can tell you it’s never boring.
As you guys may know, Amazon is not really a thing in Kenya and ordering things from Amazon can get complicated as you have to do it through a third party. So, I don’t generally order items from Amazon including books and just make do with using the Amazon Kindle app.
Last year, my poetry got published in two different anthologies. This was the first time my writing was published and I was immensely proud of the achievement. However, I was unable to purchase either books on Amazon and talked about my disappointment about that on a post on this blog.
Brian, being the kind person he is, let me know he would be open to purchasing the books on Amazon and mailing the books to me and I would just send him the payment once I received the books. I was thrilled and took him up on the offer. We both got a little busy after that but he kept his word and sent me the books when he could. And I was so excited to receive them! Holding them in my hands is a surreal feeling and I am so incredibly thankful to be published on these anthologies. Thanks once more to Brian for mailing them!

Awesome. Make sure to list them and purchase link on my blog Authors Supporting Authors. This is how I am keeping track to purchase books after my retirement on March 31, 2024.
This is such good news, and I’m happy for you. Since Amazon wants to be the merchant to the world, I continue to be surprised that it doesn’t do better in and for Kenya. But you have the books, that’s great! And your work is published, which is even better–and better for the rest of us, since we get to appreciate what you have to say. Congratulations!
Thanks so much. What I’ve noticed is that when these large merchants say worldwide it usually excludes Africa. Not just with Amazon but most large companies/brands. Thanks, it really is amazing!
Amazon’s delivery service has deteriorated over the years, or perhaps third-party invoicing between the company and customers has worsened. For instance, I recently ordered a telescope but received a cheap knockoff instead. Fortunately, Amazon has a return policy, but it was still a waste of time and patience. In short: Amazon’s delivery service has become frustratingly unreliable.
It’s so annoying. I think it’s high time Amazon became more inclusive of African countries. But until then I’m so thankful for friends who send me the things I need.
I am, thank you so much!
I love poetry books, and I’ll definitely purchase these two books! How awesome you got them now Pooj! I’m delighted for you! And congrats on being published in both of the anthologies!
