How Many Of My 2024 Goals Did I Keep?

So, 2024 is officially coming to an end. Yes, this year is almost over- believe it or not. I had created some goals at the start of the year to help keep me on track of what I wanted to achieve throughout the year. Let’s see how many of my 2024 goals I kept and which ones I didn’t:

Publish My First Book

A Very Special Post

I did it! One of my proudest moments and thanks to the support you guys showed me, it was not only released by the #1 release on Amazon in the Contemporary Poetry category. So thank you, I would not have been able to achieve this goal without you guys.

Master The Art Of Playing Guitar

Yeah… unfortunately this year got so insanely busy I barely had time to practice. But there’s always next year!

Connect With My Inner Child

This has been one I have been consciously working on throughout the year with the help of my wonderful therapist. I’ve done so many things I wanted to as a child that I didn’t get the chance to do, I also did a lot of things I enjoyed as a child that I no longer did as an adult. Like during Christmas, my family went on a picnic with my cousins and uncle. We ended up playing badminton which I used to love doing when I was younger and turns out I’m still awesome at it! It was so much fun!

Care Less

I don’t know about this one. In some ways, I think I have been successful in caring less about what others say and just living my life. But at the same time, I’m only human and I am who I am so I did sometimes care and get my feelings hurt. I didn’t succeed with this goal but I did try my best.

Shave My Head

I did it, hehe! I know, I hid it from you guys for months but only because I’m dramatic and love a big reveal. Also, I was only bald for like a few days. My hair grows really fast so it was back in less than a week lol. Here’s what it currently looks like:

How Many Of My 2024 Goals Did I Keep?

Try To Be Healthier

I definitely tried my best to be as healthy as possible this year. Between being more active and eating a much healthier diet, I think I can definitely say this goal was achieved.

Travel More

Unfortunately, I was not able to travel much this year. I wish I could have but I was so busy with work, life and the chaos that comes with moving that it just didn’t work out. However, I did explore Nairobi a lot more and even went out of my comfort zone to try new things. So no, this goal was not a success but I tried my best.

Conclusion

As expected, I was not able to keep all my 2024 goals but I was pleasantly surprised to see that I kept most of them. And those that were unsuccessful, I’m still proud because I tried my best. With the crazy year I’ve had, it’s still a big deal to me that I kept so many of my 2024 goals and tried so hard.

What goals did you keep this year? Which goals did you drop the ball on? Let me know in the comments below because I would love to hear from you. Or simply stop by and say hi!

I recently published my first book and would be very honoured if you took a minute to check it out here.

  1. These are the questions I have to think about… I love your haircut, looks very cool and fresh. What new things have you tried? I think I have tried new things and not really sure if I have my definite goals written down. I will have to look 🙂

    1. Thanks so much. I have tried a lot of new things that took me out of my comfort zone like finishing my novel, going to new places etc. What new things did you try this year?

      1. I tried a few different ones, I joined the gym crowd, started swimming, tried a massage gun and a massage chair, joined anxiety support group. What else? Some products like cleansing oil on my face, it is such a cool idea, I highly recommend that. The highlight of the year was going to Seattle art museum where they had an exhibition for promoting mindfulness and meditation, I’m pretty sure it was from Kenia, coincidentally, I sat there to meditate right in front of it and something just clicked. I saw my past and my future which was pretty unusual especially in a public place full of people. This epiphany was quite an experience and I hope to go back there to find out more.

        1. How wonderful, looks like you had a year full of amazing experiences including some great new ones. I love cleansing my face too, oil cleansers are great. That sounds so life changing to have an epiphany like that, hope you can go back this year too.

  2. You gave this your best shot and that is good enough, Pooja. ❤️😊 Did you shave your head on a dare? I wish my hair would grow back like yours has! 😂

    1. Thank you! I wanted to shave it because it had become a little damaged due to using a lot of products and straightening but thankfully it’s growing back strong. Lol you’re a cutie as you are so don’t worry about it! ❤️

      1. I see, and thank you, Pooja! You are very kind. ❤️💕❤️

        1. You’re so welcome! ❤️🥰

          1. ❤️💕

  3. Sounds like you did all you could, and keeping some goals is better than none! Also, publishing a book is a huge accomplishment! 👏 👏 you should be very proud! I love your hair! 😀

    1. Thanks so much! And I love yours, I’m always a fan of red hair 😊

  4. I no longer set goals for the year, too stressful! I will make note of my accomplishments, small and large, and keep giving myself kudos for what I did.

When we know we did the best we could, given each situation and circumstance, we can give ourselves grace and pat ourselves on the back!

    1. That totally makes sense, every small accomplishment counts since it takes you in the right direction. So true!

  5. That is really impressive. Congratulations on your amazing and powerful poetry book. I will certainly remember that one.

I forgot to write down my goals so I have no idea, except for two. I remember one goal being to start a second blog and I did and secondly to pass the B1 French test and I did that too. Maybe I reached my other goals or maybe I didn’t.

    1. Thanks so much. Those two goals are great and glad you were able to achieve them. I’m sure you reached some others that you don’t remember.

  6. Awesome! … Your book was really impactful to read, highly recommend it to anyone, congrats once again on that. Best wishes for the new year!

    1. Thanks and I’m so happy that you liked the book! Have a great 2025 too!

  7. You achieve at least 50% of your goals and that deserves a pat on the back. Bravo. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    1. Thanks so much 😊

      1. You’re most welcome 🙏🏼

  8. I’d say your batting average is pretty damn good. Congrats! 💪😎

    1. Haha thank you! ☺️

  9. 🙏🎅🙌🏻🎅

    Aum Shanti

  10. Congrats again on publishing your book. Purchase your book is on my to do list and now that we have postal service again, I don’t have an excuse to put it off any longer. It seems overall you had a good 2024. I hope you have a great 2025. It seems so strange to be referencing 2025 because when I was in my 20’s I was convinced the world would end before the early 2000’s.

    1. Thanks so much. I hope you enjoy the book when you get it. Yup, I think overall it’s been a good year even with the ups and down. Maybe the world did end in the early 2000’s, I think there’s a theory that it did and this is all hallucinations or something like that.

      1. Ha, ha, that theory explains a lot.

  12. A mixed bag then!! It’s difficult setting challenges for oneself over a long period of time. We get caught up in our lives and things beyond our control cause us to deviate. I’m setting up my own publishing company next year!

    1. Yes, life has its ups and downs. I’m excited for that, I hope you let us know when you start accepting manuscripts!

  13. You should be super proud, Pooja. I envy your achievement of publishing your first book.

I had plans to start creating content full-time, but it needs a huge investment and dedication. I’ve learnt a lot about the ins and outs. Hopefully, next year, if I’ll work my a** off, lol.

Anyways, you look good with that hair style.

    1. Thanks so much, I have no doubt that you will publish your first book soon too.
Yes, it’s so much hard work but also worth it. It took me years to get to a point where I was working as a freelancer full-time.
Thanks, it’s nice not having to worry about my hair all the time lol.

  14. You did everything you could while still maintaining some of the goals you had set for yourself 👍
Remember that publishing a book is a fabulous achievement!❤️‍🔥

    1. Thanks so much and yes that was really the highlight of my year! ❤️

  15. Sounds like you had a very good year and you achieved a lot!

    1. Yes, despite the ups and downs it’s was a good year and I achieved most of my goals!

  16. You’re awesome, Pooja! I like your sophisticated hair cut! I met my goal by shedding extra weight by losing 10 lbs. I also have done a lot of decluttering, including my blog. Since, I on hiatus from posting my weekly prompts, I have been doing some housekeeping and revamping my blog. 💗

    1. Thanks so much! Oh wow, that’s wonderful. Did you shed the weight through a change in diet or increase in exercise?
Oh nice, I hope to do the same with my blog too. It’s nice to change things up and make improvements when we can 💕

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja! I cut down on portions, and increased excercising. I went down a size in my clothes.
My blog is coming along little by little. I deleted and resized images. I also set up drafts for my weekly prompts and other prompts I participate in ahead of time, and made some changes in my blog’s appearance. At least, I feel it is better organized. 💗

        1. Oh nice, that’s great. A healthy way to lose some weight.

I’m glad you were able to do that, it’s nice to have everything organised and ready to post 😊

  17. oh my good golly gosh
    kosh kosh
cros sang to you in your rem state
    almost cut yer hair
    oh oh
    oh no

    1. There’s no almost lol.

      1. cros did not end well sadly. but your hair grows fast. me i m just glad to have any at this point. lmao

      2. fucking wordpress has made the sight even more annoying to navigate. i pissed on them and lauded your inner gupta in pooja oh no! not again!

        1. Yesss I keep getting muddled up because they keep changing everything!

  18. Man, I can’t believe you actually shaved your head. Was there any particular driving force behind wanting to do it, or was it just “one of those things”? I am glad it is growing back so quickly.

My one goal was to communicate less with one person, because I knew it wasn’t a healthy relationship. Only in the last month have I been able to make that start happening, but you know what? As soon as I took the first step, it has begun snowballing on its own, so it’s great.

    1. Lol yup, I wanted to just go for it. It was just one of those things but also my hair was pretty damaged from constant straightening and using a lot of products. So, I wanted to start a new hair cycle.

Oh I see, it’s always a good idea to cut off or distance yourself from people that no longer bring anything positive into your life.

      1. Well, I hope ’25 is a healthy hair year for you 🙂

        1. So far so good 😀

  19. CONGRATULATIONS 📖👏😆🎉

    Luv your styles 🤩💘

    1. Thanks so much 😊💕

      1. Awwww you are welcome Pooja 💙💌🤗🤗

  20. I love your haircut! Welldone on all your efforts and congratulations again on your book👏👏👏👏👏

So, I recently found that I didn’t have any goals for 2024. Apparently, I was so defeated at the end of 2023 that I couldn’t bring myself to create new goals.

    1. Thank you so much!

Oh wow, sorry to hear that but hopefully you had a good 2024 regardless.

      1. It wasn’t the best but there were bright spots and I’m thankful to God. I’m also very weirdly hopeful for ’25. Thanks for asking

        1. Stay hopeful, you never know 2025 could be amazing for you.

          1. It’s started off pretty good already. Thankssssss

            1. Oh good, glad to hear that 🙂

  21. I love your attitude toward your goals! What a wonderful way to ensure you continue to grow and strive, and yet not get stuck in the win/lose concept of resolutions. Happy New Year, Pooja!

    1. Thank you so much! Happy New Year, hope you have the best 2025!

  22. all that beautiful hair gone…but it will grow back!

    1. Haha yes, it’ll be back to normal in a few months!

  23. Congratulations on achieving most of your goals and trying your best, which is inspiring no matter the outcome. Bravo brave and beautiful you! 🌼

    1. Thanks so much! ❤️

      1. You’re very welcome and thank you for everything! ❤️ Your book is supposed to arrive tomorrow, the last day of 2024. Isn’t that wonderful!

        1. That’s amazing, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed yours! 😊

          1. Thank you, gracious you! I am sure I will. 🥰

            1. You’re most welcome! 🤗

  24. Outstanding year, Pooja <3 and wishes for record breaking goals for 2025 !!!! Love your hair and envious … I would love your look and dangly earrings ~ Gorgeousness !!!!!

  25. Pixie cut super cute! 🙂

    1. Thanks so much! 🙂

  26. Happy New Year Pooja.

    1. A very happy new year 🙂

  27. You accomplished a lot this year my fellow Jedi. Love the shaved head look but I think Pooja with hair is even better.

    1. Thanks so much. I’m sure it’ll grow back to normal in a few months 🙂

The fashion geek in me is loving that new look from you! It looks so professional! That snapshot of you at nighttime looking over to your right in that second photo is stunning too! 😍

I’m glad that you weren’t too hard on yourself and accomplished most of everything. Publishing your first book is an incredible accomplishment all on it’s own! 💪

    1. Aw thanks soooo much! Yeah, I wanted to give myself some grace when it came to goals I couldn’t achieve because it was a tough year.

      1. Christopher Hall Avatar
        Christopher Hall

You’re very welcome of course! I’ve been keeping up with how tough it’s been for you while I was gone from WordPress. I’m really hoping this new year will give you renewed strength inside from all of that pain you’ve had to endure last year.

        1. Thank you so much, I so appreciate you saying that. Yes, the last few months have been so difficult but I have a feeling 2025 will be a great year so fingers crossed. Hope you have an amazing year too.

  29. The new hairdo looks chic!
Great to hear how you met some goals and tried your best. The process has so much to offer too. And your poetry book was published and landed at #1. That’s a huge achievement. Congrats again!

    1. Thanks so much! Yes, I really did try my best with them and learnt a lot along the way.

  30. I accomplished 8 out of 20 goals for my 5 year plan (30 to 35) and 11 out of 20 goals for my yearly goals for 2024. The ones I didn’t complete this year will be added to my 2025 goals.

    1. That’s pretty good and you still have time for the rest of the goals in 2025.

  31. That you achieved any goals is laudable. That you achieved several and worked on others is tremendous. Maybe caring less will mean, for you, moving the undone to the new year. Or maybe letting go of goals that are no longer you. Happy New Year in a few days.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, I think letting go of a number of things that no longer serve purpose in my life. Happy New Year!

  32. LOVE the hair. What a daring decision you made this year, along with achieving such a huge writing goal and well-deserved acknowledgement of not just your talent but perseverance and courage.

    1. Thanks so much! I’m loving not having to deal with my hair daily lol. So much easier this way.

  33. Pretty brave shaving your head. The fact that you made headway on many of your goals is impressive. Wishing you a happy healthy 2025.

    1. Thanks so much, it’s been a good year with the goals. Happy 2025, have the best one.

  34. Sounds like you had a quite a few memorable wins this year, even with couple setbacks. Great job Pooja. Loving the short look btw. 😊💕

    1. Thanks so much, yes I really did do my best in 2024. Thank you ☺️☺️

      1. You’re welcome

  35. Well that’s a good start! I didn’t make all of my goals for this year either but instead of new goals I’ve decided to continue with those for this year in 2025, and add new ones as I see fit! As I see it now, instead of goals thatI failed or succeeded at, my goals are just plans and hopes with an idealized time to try to keep me accountable.

    1. Thanks! That’s great, there’s no need to change the goals just because the year ended. Now instead of a set time for the goals, you just have longterm goals.

  36. You had several major resolutions, so I think you did great. My goal was to work on the source of my health problems, which I did. Unfortunately, it also has been very expensive.

    1. Thanks so much. Oh, I’m sorry to hear it cost a lot but at the same time I’m glad you at least found out what the issue was. Hopefully you can work on it and get better.

  37. I kept all my goals. I took my vreations to some craft fairs, And I was not eaten by a tiger. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Nice! 😅

  38. Ask your inner child to try the guitar. That’s taking care of two for the price of one. Your inner child will be excited to play. (But unfortunately, practicing is a dull adult kind of thing to do) Lol! Take care Pooja!

    1. Haha that’s a good idea, maybe my inner child and adult self can have a jam session 😅 Take care too!

  39. I kept a few of the goals that I planned for 2024 but for 2025, I really haven’t thought about it much. I kept writing and would still like to keep up with that. Have a Happy New Year Pooj.

    1. Hopefully, you’ll be able to continue writing this year too. Thanks, happy new year to you as well.

  40. Nice post 💯

Happy new year 🎉 I wish you all the best, health and love 💖🌹

    1. Thanks so much, Happy New Year 🥳

  41. I love your coming out party and sharing your new dew or shaving your head. It looks awesome on you! Congratulations on your book success and sharing the wins and one’s you’re still working on! 💗

    1. Aw thank you! You were the first person to see the new look minus my family lol 😜

  42. Good one. I hardly have goals but will try to have some this new yaer.

    1. Thanks so much, hope your goals for the year go well.

  44. The book is a huge one and hey there’s always time to get to the others you didn’t but Pooja, I need to see that bald head 😂.

    1. Lol absolutely not, I’m taking that picture to the grave with me 😅
