Quote Of The Day

Kris Carr Quote:

Kris Carr Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

I chose to share this quote today because I needed to believe that things will get better someday. When you’re at your lowest and struggling, it’s really hard to remain positive. But I’m trying really hard to remember all I have to be grateful for. I really appreciate the kind comments you guys have been leaving in my last few posts where I mentioned I was going through something recently. They really made my heart swell.

I chose this song to share today because I think it really perfectly describes what it’s like when life doesn’t turn out the way we expect it to. And wanting to run away from it all and start over. Those small moments where we have hope that things will change for us and get better. It also mentions what it’s like to have to choose yourself when push comes to shove even if that means leaving behind people you love. You can love people deeply but people are who they are, not who you want them to be. And you have to distance yourself in order to protect your sanity.

  1. It’s a good plan, I like it. Very optimistic!
This week I want to make green chili and celebrate lunar new year. It’s a new start and a new day for me, and I’m feeling good. ( song by Michael Buble )

    1. Thank you! Oh nice, enjoy the week and lunar new year.

  2. Lovely thought in that quote. I hope you find peace in the words.

    1. Thank you so much, it did make me feel much better.

  3. Thank you for the post and also for reminding me of Tracy Chapman

    1. Thanks so much. Tracy Chapman is absolutely fantastic.

  4. Yesss! Reminding ourselves of positives in our present, combined with a believable positive future really helps our spirits to feel better and does so much for our mental health!

    1. Absolutely! It is very much necessary!

  5. Your comment that people are who they are, not who you want them to be is so very accurate. I had not seen this quote before but I think its message is true.

    1. Thanks so much, it’s something my therapist told me the other day.

  6. Just practising a couple of blues songs

  7. We’re all grateful for you by the way. It’s easier said than done, but you keep on hanging in there my friend! 🤗

    1. Thanks so much, that’s so sweet of you to say 🤗

  8. I find that when I’m feeling low, it’s very hard for me to believe that I’m not always going to feel down. Conversely, when I’m feeling up, it feels like I’ve got everything under control and I have difficulty imagining that I’ll be sad and struggling at some point in the future. There’s both solace and disquiet in the idea that nothing lasts forever. Time moves forward and things change.

Great music choice. I love Tracy Chapman. She is such an authentic artist. No pretense as far as I can tell.

I came across a dance video this week that I watched a couple times, then sought the music out on Spotify. I love the way it builds. Here’s a link.

    1. I’m the same way, when I feel low it really hits me and vice versa. However, therapy has really helped me balance it out more. And make sure the low days are manageable.

Tracy Chapman is so incredibly talented and yes authentic. Still so down to earth.

That’s wonderful, thanks for sharing it. I’m off to listen to it.

  9. I love this quote, good health especially is so important. Struggle absolutely shouldn’t be a part of our lives, I claim it 🙏

    1. Thank you and I so agree, we shouldn’t have to always struggle 😊💕

  10. Great quote, and that is such a good song one of the best.

    1. Thank you so much, one of my favourite songs.

  11. Nice quote, Pooja, uplifting. Agree about sometimes having to let people go for your own sanity. But there’s always a cool new friend you just haven’t met yet around the next bend 😎❤️

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, sometimes we have to put ourselves first. Exactly, there are so many new people out there 😊💕

  12. 🙏🌹

    Aum Shanti

  13. I like this quote but I do think that struggle is also a part of our lives.

    1. Yes, I think so too but we have to remember that the struggles won’t last forever.

      1. Very right my friend. 🤗

  15. My mornings & evenings are getting interesting.
I sit quietly. I observe everything happening. I feel peace while surrounded myself with nature (being a part of the nature).

I realise I do prefer my own company. I enjoy and like it. I’m happy being me.

But I also like observing people, the activities they do, and what I can learn from them.

I also lost someone important recently. Instead of worrying about that person I choose to ACCEPT what it is.
“Please reward yourself for your good deeds & encourage yourself wherever required!” Not everyone will remind you that often.

    I wish you happiness, Pooja!😁
Stay healthy, thoughtful and active (relax)!

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. That’s a wonderful way to begin and end the day. I’m the same way and prefer my time alone.

Thanks so much and wishing you lots of happiness too!

  16. an inspiring quote, Pooja…
take care… as they say and we hope …this too shall pass …🙏🤍

    1. Thanks so much, yes it always does 😊💕

      1. pleasure…🤍

  17. That is one of my favourite songs and I can listen to it on a loop. Great choice, Pooja. There’s so much truth in the quote. Take care, keep writing, stay in touch with those who matter. Nothing lasts forever, these days too will pass. Hugs to you.

    1. Same here, such a fantastic song. I love Tracy Chapman. Thanks so much and yes things always change. We just have to get our priorities straight.

  18. Particularly apt quote for me today. Frantically trying to get my son out of a terrible spiral. Stress stress stress. Sometimes it feels as if there is no way out. But there always is. It is all about reaching the point where you accept what needs to be done to put things right.

    1. Thank you. So sorry to hear that, definitely sounds very stressful. Of course, everything eventually passes. No problem is permanent.

  19. A very positive and a very aspiring quote, Pooja. Things are positive and calm on my end. I try to think of everyday as a new adventure and enjoy it to its fullest. 💗

    1. Thanks so much. So glad to hear you’re doing well, hope it continues that way 😊💕

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja. 😊

  20. I like the poem’s sentiment, but I am not sure I agree completely with the quote.
Life is a struggle of varying degrees.
How we evaluate and look at each struggle is the important thing.
Whether facing a natural disaster, major illness, or a decision to use the Rolls versus take the bus, pay the rent, versus buy groceries, your values and beliefs determine the response.
I think most of us inherit our values and beliefs from our family and social setting rather than consciously choosing something. Even if we consciously choose, we tend to default to the inherited ones when distress arises.

    1. Yes, I think how we perceive things is most important.

True, I think most of our values are inherited or learned. They make up who we are at the core.

  21. The only thing we control is our attitude and how we respond when life has challenges

    1. Yes, I totally agree.

  22. Unfortunately, we live in a world full of people with different goals and objectives. So, we can do our best to cultivate an attitude of contentment look after our health to the best of our ability and make prudent plans to seek stability, but we have no control over how society moves, and it does impact on all our noble planning, and we will struggle to deal with issues over which we have no control at all. The test of a person is how we ride through those struggles.

    1. Yes, I think our attitude really makes the biggest difference.

  23. Always accept things as they are, if you can’t change them.
Life is the manifestation of where we invest our energy(attention), stay safe, my friend.

    1. Absolutely, acceptance is always key and our attitude makes the biggest difference.

  24. Love that song! I don’t think ‘life’ has a plan but I do agree that the purpose isn’t constant struggle, at least that’s not my goal. If your goals are health and happiness and stability, just know that some struggles come but they usually pass. Glad you’re feeling a bit better, I’m listening to Foo Fighters this week b/c it’s been a week…

    1. Yeah, I think most of us know that there will be some struggles but we prefer it to be as few as possible.
Thanks so much. Oh no, well hopefully your week will get better.

Your openness re mental health is something I really appreciate in your writing, Pooja. You’re processing some deep things and it’s natural that it takes a little while.

    1. Thanks so much. Yeah, absolutely. It’ll take a while before I’m totally back to normal and I don’t want to rush the process. Our mind needs time to heal too.

  26. I love that song and quote. I agree that ‘constant struggle is not’ but times of struggle helps build strength, like adding weights to a workout that has become easy. 💞 One of the hardest things for me to do is choose myself, as most times its easier to give myself a ‘lick and a promise’ for later. So…still working on that. Hugs to you, Pooja, and if you choose the fast car, drive safe and wear your seatbelt. 💞💞💞

    1. Thanks so much. I so agree, I think some struggle is good for growth.
Choosing yourself is always most difficult because we’re taught to put others first. But the truth is we often have to put ourselves first when necessary.
      Thanks so much 💕💕

  27. Nice quote, but who the heck is Kris Carr? I disagree with him. Life needs to be a struggle. It’s give us a constant source for making jokes. No One laughs at a peaceful existence. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Lol that’s true 😅

  28. I think the Kris Carr quotation is sound and inspiring. The things we should have in life, well, we should have. I think the “constant” part of struggling is right as a negative, though struggling itself might be valueless (neither good nor bad) in that it might be a needed part of life. Call it striving, maybe.

    1. Yeah, that’s very true. I think with struggling it depends on how we look at it because like you said it’s a constant. We can think of it as lessons learnt instead.

  29. I love that this quote doesn’t focus on ‘happy’. It took me a few decades to realize that there was a lot more important goals to live than being happy. I like stability, too.

    1. I think that’s an important thing to accept. Happiness is never constant and is so fleeting, it makes so much sense to focus on other goals instead.

  30. Exceptional quote and throwing struggle right out the window of my awesome fast car … My brother will blast that song and start reenactments whilst driving! I agree with you though when stuck it’s so hard to keep a positive framework for the future! Music always helps ~ <3 I'm working on a post about this very thing inspired by "Spiderwebs" !! 😉

    1. Haha exactly! Oh nice, this song is the best. So true, it’s hard to stay positive when you feel down but it’s important to try 😊
Ooh excited to read the post 😄

Some of the posts won’t let me like them. Great quote.

    1. Thanks so much. Oh no, sorry about that. I think there’s an issue with WP likes because others have complained about that too.

  32. Hi, and great quote! It’s that assurance we often need. I’m glad the comments of followers and friends on her have helped you.

I’ve been very busy so haven’t kept up with blogs for about a week, but am catching up today. I’ve been listening to a wide variety of things, including Bryan Ferry, a longtime favourite who used to be the front person for the English band Roxy Music. He’s 79 and still making new music. This coming week I’ll catch up on some volunteer work and keep riding my indoor bike. I hope you have a good week!

    1. PS: great song choice… I remember when that one came out, many years ago!

      1. Thank you! It’s such a fantastic song.

        1. My pleasure, and yes, it sure is.

    2. Thanks and yeah everyone here helped so much, I feel much better now.

Oh wow, that’s impressive at almost 80. Have a wonderful week!

      1. Thank you and you too!

  33. Great quote, though at times life can throw a lot at you. Great song by Tracy Chapman too.
    Thanks for sharing, Pooja.

    1. Thank you. Yes, so true. Sometimes life gets overwhelming. One of my favourite songs, so fantastic.

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja. Always keep strong.
