Mae Jemison Quote

Quote Of The Day

Mae Jemison Quote:

Mae Jemison Quote

What’s Up With Me?

I started off the year with a lot of sadness and anxiety. It felt like my hard work that I had spent years on when it came to my mental health had just gone down the drain. But for the last few days I’ve felt very much at peace. Even more so than before. It’s such a good reminder that sometimes growing pains are necessary for us to evolve into a stronger version of ourselves.

As for the Mae Jemison quote, it’s something I strongly agree with. I’ve noticed for almost my entire life that people with no imagination, talent or ambition are always the ones trying to slow others down from achieving greatness. People that can’t try to stop those that can.

When someone tells you that you can’t do something, it usually actually means that they don’t believe you can do something because they can’t do it. They’re just projecting their insecurities or lack of talent onto you. Just because someone or some people believe you can’t do something doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Other people don’t define what you can and cannot do. You are on your own path.

  1. So true. Others can drag you down to their level when you’re succeeding. Arguing with idiots is futile as they drag you down to their level too. I came up with a quote “Parameters on What You Are Allowed To Achieve Is A Paralysis Of Your Evolution”. Break down the parameters and then watch yourself go 👌

    1. Exactly, as they say misery loves company. That’s a fantastic quote too and yes I very much agree. We shouldn’t stunt ourselves by creating invisible parameters.

      1. Thank you ☺️ sometimes I think I’m thinking gibberish when I come up with something

        1. I think a lot of us feel that way but in the end it makes a lot of sense to those that get it 😊

  2. Another good quote Pooja

    1. Glad you enjoyed it.

  3. It’s an excellent quote, one that many can learn from! I listened to the entire song, great song but I don’t think the video fits it well. I’m so glad that you are feeling much better, Pooja! ❤️😊

    1. Thanks so much and so glad you enjoyed it! 🥰 I agree, the lyrics don’t go well with the music video it’s odd they chose that for the song 🤷🏻‍♀️

      1. 🤙🏻❤️❤️

  4. I think that’s a great quote. I am so sorry to hear that your year has been so tough. I feel like the new year is supposed to bring invigoration, new energy, and new focus but it doesn’t always work that way. Hard times can hit any time.

I know what it’s like to feel like you’re backsliding with your mental health, but trust me, all the knowledge you had from before is still with you and you have what it takes to make it through.

Side note: I have been listening to the song you posted, “Jumper,” on the radio for at least 21 years and have never known what it was called or who it was by. Thank you for sharing it!

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, I hoped the new year would be a new and more positive start. And in some ways I guess it was but it was a tough one to handle. True, sometimes backsliding bapppens with mental health but the tools we’ve acquired to deal with it along the way are there to help.

It’s so funny because I didn’t know anything about the song either till I searched the lyrics and found it when it was stuck in my head the other day. Now you know it too!

  5. A very inspiring quote Pooja. I’m glad that you’re feeling more upbeat now.

    1. Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it.

      1. You’re most welcome

  6. Great quote, and even better exposition of the quote. Good reminder, Pooja!

    1. Thanks so much!

  7. It’s funny I was just complaining to my husband about exactly that, the context was a bit different. But in a nutshell, we talked about people who observe strong societal norms and keep old traditions as God’s commandments. I couldn’t hold back and said very judgementally that the problem of those folks is lack of imagination. It was a surprising conclusion even for myself.
Last week went well but the weekend was even better, I felt inspired to go out and about and try new things. It worked out great! I might write a post about it because it was totally worth it.
This week I am going to work and have fun if the opportunity presents itself. I’m going to watch “Woodstock” and continue reading “The quiet American” I feel like the time is right 🙂

    1. I completely understand your frustration with those that observe strong societal norms and are very religious but I believe they are already close minded which is why they choose to observe religion in that way. They already lack imagination, creativity and empathy regardless of religion because I’ve also met very open minded and imaginative religious folks.
Oh nice, so happy to hear that! Lmk what you think of both 🙂

      1. Oops, let me rephrase what I wrote.
People who observe social norms religiously are lacking imagination not religious people, I didn’t talk about them, we can’t put them all into the same box. I had to make it more clear, sorry for misunderstanding

        1. Ooh okay, I get it now. Sorry for the mixup too I think it was a misunderstanding on my side.

  8. Knowing how much weight to put into someone’s “advice” for us is not easy.

    1. So true. I believe some people genuinely have our best interest at heart while some don’t. We just have to be vigilant and figure out which is which.

  9. Glad you are feeling more at peace 🙏 so important. I love the quote, it’s so true. You can’t let others limit you, just because they limit themselves 💕

    1. Thank you so much and I’m so glad you enjoyed the quote as much as I did 😊

  10. NOTHING is lost when we work on our healing, our growth and mental health! Sometimes we do backslide, but then we pick ourselves up again and continue moving forward!

I too had been surrounded by many naysayers who lacked imagination to envisioned what I wanted to do. The did their best to get me to squeeze into a small box, and it worked sometimes. The other times that I went ahead and did what I felt I needed to, they were upset with me.

After I moved away from my home city,I got to know a whole new group of people, who weren’t limited in their vision.

Just keep doing what brings you joy! You are already accomplishing more than they dreamed!

    1. I couldn’t agree more, regardless of where we are with a mental health what you’ve learnt will always be helpful to us. I think there will always be people like that who try to put you into a small box however we just have to find our own people like you did that get who we are.

  11. 🙏🕉🌹

    Aum Shanti

  13. I love the quote. It brings to mind a poster I had that read; “People who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt those who are doing it”.
I am glad to hear that you are feeling more at peace lately.
I was finally able to get back into my social media account and unfortunately went down the rabbit hole while getting caught up on everything that is going on, lol. I also have been working on my SEO with Google Console as you recommended so excited to see the results from that.

    1. So glad you enjoyed the quote. Very similar quote you shared and accurate too. I think there’s always going to be people that try to project their limitations onto others. It’s our job to keep doing what we dream of despite them.
Lol yeah that happens with social media. It’s so addictive. But yay for the SEO stuff, I hope it helps grow your blog 🙂

  14. While I tend to agree with that quote, I do feel it can be misconstrued as “don’t listen to anybody else”. I take other peoples’ advice very seriously, because they have life experience that I don’t and they don’t have the same blind spots as me.

    1. That’s a very good point. I think it’s up to us to differentiate between advice we’re given to help us and naysayers projecting their limitations in the guise of advice.

  15. Bask in your own powers even if nobody else recognises them! We, who have the imagination, hold the future!

  16. Growing pains can hurt like the dickens, but are completely necessary. Glad you’re growing out of this round, Pooja! 💞💞💞

    1. They sure do but like you said they’re necessary and oftentimes they become lessons we never forget. Thank you! 💗

  17. I love this quote. Be your ownself and do your own thing. I am glad you are more at peace with yourself, Pooja!

    1. Glad you enjoyed the quote. Thank you, I think figuring myself out and being able to be my true self has helped a lot with feeling at peace too!

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja! You deserve a pat on the back, my friend. ❣️

  18. Love this quote! You must have a really nice time picking out quotes to share that speak to you ✨️💗

    1. Thank you, yes it’s so much fun to go through quotes and find one that aligns with what I’m experiencing that week. There’s something so healing about it 😊💕

  19. You’ve got the fire and the beauty flowing through everything in this post today! This is REALLY great stuff! 💪🔥🪷 I really REALLY hope a lot of people listen to your wisdom. Because, I’ve learned the hard way that what you’re saying here is true.

    1. Aw thank you so much! I’ve learned the hard way too and I guess some lessons need to be that way for us to remember them 😔

      1. Oh gosh, I know that pain. I’m so sorry to hear you had to learn the hard way too. Ugh. 😔 But, like I remember you telling me one time, better late than never right! And of course you’re very welcome! I’m very grateful for your presence here! 💕😁

        1. Yeah, it hurts and I’m sad you went through that as well but yes it’s better to learnt the lesson rather than never do so 😊💗

  20. I’m so happy to hear that you have been feeling at peace the last few days!💕

    1. Thank you so much, it’s been really nice! 💗

  21. Balance is a wonderful thing. 🙂

    1. It really is 🙂

  22. Good quote 💝

    1. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it 💕

  23. Wow, Pooja! Leave it to you to quote someone I’d not heard of. A quick Google search and I’ve now discovered someone REALLY worth knowing. Thank you!

    1. Yes, definitely worth knowing! I’m so glad you enjoyed the quote.

  24. Love the quote, the sentiment, and Third Eye Blind, Semi-Charmed Life is good too! Maybe today, I can put the past away … 😉 I’m listening to Melanie Martinez, Play Date (LOL) and applying it to my workload. 😀

    1. Ooh yes Semi-Charmed Life is probably my favourite song by them! Oh nice, I really like Melanie Martinez as well. Have a great day 😁

  25. The quotation is reasonable and correct, I think. It’s a good argument against suppression. One needs enough freedom to imagine on one’s own–and to realize the better parts of what one imagines. I’m happy to read that you feel more peace, now.

    1. Thank you and yes I very much agree, we need to know ourselves and what we’re capable of and that helps us understand what we can achieve. Others haven’t walked in our shoes so they may not understand. Thank you, yes I’m a lot better now.

  26. I live this quote 🤣😎🙃

    1. Same here 😊

    1. Glad you enjoyed it!

  27. Glad to read you’re feeling at peace, Pooja and thank you for sharing that great quote, along with your response to it. ✨

    1. Thank you so much and so glad you enjoyed the quote 😊

      1. Very much so! 🙏🏻😊

    Cool quote. Glad you’re managing.

    1. Thanks so much.

  29. Great quote as always, Pooja. It is true that we often limit ourselves not by our abilities but rather by the belief that we aren’t enough.

I’m glad to know you made some progress after a rough time. Nice song choice. I’m listening to all kinds this week, maybe a little more folk-rock than anything else.

    1. Thanks, so glad you enjoyed the quote and absolutely I think so too. Our beliefs and perception make such a big difference,

      Oh nice, I love folk-rock or folk-country.

      1. My pleasure! Yeah, time for another country song soon! 😉

        1. Haha yes I think so!

  30. Great quote!
