Brené Brown Quote #2

Brené Brown Quote:

Brené Brown Quote | Quotes For Women's History Month

What’s Up With Me?

As I mentioned in earlier posts, I was struggling with a viral infection which really sucked. But thankfully I’m feeling better now. I think the worst of it is through. Thank you to everyone that wished me a quick recovery.

I’m also trying to get my life together in general because I feel like with everything that happened this year I ended up putting my own needs in the back burner. I’m trying to sleep on time (I had been going to bed way too late recently), get back into exercising regularly, reading more and generally doing things I enjoy more often.

This year has made me realise that life will always have difficult moments but it’s up to me to continue to surround myself with positivity and do things that bring me happiness. That gives me a break from the more difficult things. So that is exactly what I will be doing this March.

Hope everyone has had a good start to the month, I did not but I’m hoping the worst of it is behind me and good things will come.

  1. I am glad you are feeling better. I hope it wasn’t covid but I’ve been told it is making a comback again starting with South Africa. Anyway, I think it is great quote. Walking around being the tough and rough one won’t do you any favors in the long run.

    1. Thanks so much. Luckily, it wasn’t covid which I’m grateful for but yeah I have heard it’s back which really sucks. Glad you enjoyed the quote and I very much agree.

  2. There’s great risk and great gains when we are vulnerable. Love you, Sweetie.

    1. Yes, I very much agree. Thanks and much love to you as well.

  3. I’m glad that you are feeling better, Pooja!

For me, it’s the vulnerable thing, Pooja. After three marriages I just don’t have it in me anymore to take another risk for a relationship.

    1. Thank you! That really makes sense, it’s hard to trust people again when you’ve been hurt before.

      1. Very difficult! 😞

  4. I’m glad you’re getting better, Pooj. Hopefully March 2025 will be one of your best months ever.

    1. Thanks so much and I hope so. Hope your editing is going well.

      1. Chapter 26 proceeds apace. If all goes well, I’ll have Scene Three done by early evening.

        1. That’s great to hear. Glad you’re making progress.

      2. 🤙🏻☺️☺️

  5. Rough start to the year for you, that’s for sure. I hope things smooth out…

    1. For sure but I’m hoping this means the worst is out of the way. Thanks.

  6. It’s a surprising quote, I always see vulnerability is a major weakness but maybe it’s time to change that opinion.
Last week we watched Woodstock and The quiet American, very interesting depiction of the generational changes as well as introduction of new values. It’s a very timely topic in the light of the news today.
I’m glad you are feeling better, March is coming with presents, it always does. it’s a celebration of coming back to life

    1. I think many of us do often think of vulnerability as a weakness but I think it can be a strength too.
Oh that’s great. I agree, sometimes I feel things haven’t changed enough since the 60’s and 70’s.
I hope so, have a lovely March.

      1. Thank you Pooja! It feels like nothing changes ever but in reality we are in the middle of a gradual change every moment , first we are growing and right after that getting older and wrinklier, I mean wiser and better. Change is ubiquitous

        1. Yes and sometimes in history we see things regress before major change happens. So don’t feel too bad when things aren’t progressing as much as we hope, that is only a stepping stone.

          1. only a stepping stone, so true

  7. I’ve read much of her work. Brene’ Brown is a huge advocate for mental health. Glad your feeling better!

    1. I only recently started reading her work and she really is brilliant! Thanks so much.

  8. Being vulnerable can bring much joy and much pain, I understand both sides, but you have to be you, happy you’re doing better

    1. I agree, I think in the end it’s about balance and knowing when to be vulnerable and when to be tough. Although the risk of being hurt is always there when we are vulnerable I guess.

  9. Here’s to the best month ever..I believe you’re gonna have great 30 days ahead.
The quote males a lot of sense. But im.afraod not many people are willong to be vulnerable. Great rewards.. but also much risk.

    1. I really hope so. I could use a good month. I agree, vulnerability is a risk that many prefer not to take. But I think sometimes it’s worth it and can end up being a strength.

      1. Yeah.. it’s definitely the trials we face and overcome, which prove to us our resilience.

  10. I like the quote. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

    1. Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed the quote.

    1. Thanks so much.

    1. So true. I think the only way to find peace is to live harmoniously with one another. And that takes vulnerability. If we are stubborn and refuse to change, we can never live in harmony.

  13. A very profound quote from Ms Brown. I hope you keep on looking after yourself dear friend. All the best

    1. Yes, I very much liked this quote too. Thanks so much.

  14. Love me some Brene! It’s a great quote! And I’m so pleased to hear that you’re taking charge of your own health and well-being and making self-care a priority! (I’m now trying to recall verbatim your great quote about self-care. . . I’m not going to get it exactly, but I remember it was great, LOL!)

Okay, but seriously, I have to ask, in the name of philosophy — how do these seemingly decisive acts jibe with your proclaimed fatalism (is that the right word for your opposition to the idea of “free will”?)?

    1. I’ve only started reading Brene Brown’s writing and very much enjoying it. Oh yes, I remember that quote and absolutely self-care is so vital. I think it’s needed after the last few weeks I’ve had.

I think with Stoicism we believe that our destiny/fate is out of our hands but our actions, perceptions and choices are not. So I would say it’s good to choose to be vulnerable when necessary, it helps us grow.

      1. Makes total sense! Thanks, Pooja! And keep up the self-care!

        1. Thank you and will do!

  15. Love Brene and her work on vulnerability is groundbreaking in so many ways. Wishing you 100% recovery.

    1. I very much agree, I only recently started reading her work and I think she is so incredibly wise. Thank you so much.

      1. Her latest work is the map of emotions. Fascinating read!!

        1. That sounds really interesting!

  16. I love this quote! Although, for some reason, in general Brene’ Brown’s talks don’t inspire me the way the way they do so many others. When I first heard her, I was like “YES”, but then sort of “Okay got it.” LOL I feel there’s some block… maybe she subconsciously reminds me of someone?

Love to hear how clear and focused you sound. Maybe the infection made you rest just enough to come back stronger. <3

    1. That’s totally fair, I think there are some speakers we really connect with and others that perhaps don’t align with us that much. Ooh could be, maybe something she said triggered an unconscious memory.

Thanks so much and yes perhaps that was the case 🙂

      1. I’m so glad it was a quick recovery for you. <3

  17. Hi Pooj – glad you are feel better and less vulnerable! Positivity is essential! We need to glow brightly!

    1. Thank you so much and I so agree!

  18. I hope you continue to feel better, Pooja, and that you give yourself some grace and take your time with the ‘catching up’. 💞💞💞

    1. Thank you so much, yeah I think I’ll take it easy for a couple of days first 💕

      1. how could one not be top drawer? i m alive. i just ate at a place where the lady s husband is waiting to die. so i m fine. to quote george cheer down, i m glad ur around. thanks hari!

  20. Yes, vulnerability is the doorway to living a healthy and fulfilled life, but that sometimes comes with a cost of being seen as weak.
Yes, though, we should be vulnerable, but let it fuel us to accept reality and make better changes in our lives.

    I’m glad you’re feeling well.

    1. I very much agree, I think vulnerability helps us grow and learn from our mistakes. But there has to be a balance as we need to know who to trust when being vulnerable and who to be vary of.

      Thanks so much.

  21. Being vulnerable involves exposing oneself to potential emotional harm or criticism, which can be challenging but also rewarding. I am glad you are feeling better, Pooja. 💕

    1. I agree, it can be quite challenging especially if you have had your trust broken before. Thanks so much 💕

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja.

  22. The source of love is vulnerability. I also wondered, while reading, if the source of vulnerability might be love. But vulnerability as the path, as said, sounds right. If only the world agreed how fragile we are, how easily undone. Which leads me to saying that I’m happy that you’re better from the virus. And, yes, you should watch after your (basic) self as well.

    1. I very much agree, I think to have a true connection you have to be vulnerable at least to an extent. Thank you, I’m almost okay today.

  23. Good to know you are feeling better now.
For me accepting my vulnerabilities gives me strength.

    1. Thanks so much. That’s wonderful, I think vulnerability can definitely be a strength.

      1. You are welcome. 👍🏻

  24. Glad you are feeling better, Pooja. Love this quote!

    1. Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed the quote!

  25. I’m so glad to hear you are feeling better! When I saw that post you made over the weekend that you were sick I was thinking, Oh great, just lovely, now her too! 🙄 But thankfully you’re doing better now! And, that quote is very on point. I think that is one of the few things in life that you can’t go wrong with. It creates a domino effect of positive momentum that leads straight to beauty. 🌼

    1. Thank you! I know, it sucks we got sick one after the other but yes I’m much better now and hope you are too. And so agree with what you said about positivity 😊

      1. You’re very welcome! Thankfully yes! I’m 100% now. It took me WAY too long to get there though! 😆😊

        1. Oh good, so glad you’re fine now! Urghh yeah it takes so long to recover these days it took me over a month to recover from covid when I had it the year before last 😩

          1. Awww Thank you so much! UGHH That’s so freaking rough! 😩😬 I’m so sorry that happened to you. 🥺 I remember it being similar for me back in 2022 when I last caught covid myself, so I know exactly what you mean. YIKES!

            1. It really sucks but life goes on and thankfully we recovered!

              1. Yay Exactly! 👍😊

  26. Agreed, we have to open up and let others in to experience love, empathy and a sense of belonging.

Glad you’re feeling better Pooja, take care of yourself!

    1. Yes, exactly. Thanks so much!

  27. Glad you’re getting back on track! That’s what we can do… fall, pick ourselves up, then keep going on the path we’re supposed to be on!

    1. Absolutely, life will always have tough moments but we can’t let them keep us down!

  28. Glad to know you are back to good health again

    1. Thanks so much.

  29. Thanks for sharing the vulnerability quote. I had not heard that one before.

    1. Glad you enjoyed it.

  30. Sorry to hear about the viral infection, glad you are feeling better now 🙏 I loved this quote, you always pick such good ones. I agree we need to be vulnerable with ourselves in going inwards to grow in our journey! 💕 Simply beautiful 😊

    1. Thanks so much, I’m almost completely recovered now 😊 So glad you enjoyed the quote and absolutely vulnerability is so important for growth 💕

  31. Unfortunately, vulnerability is more often the source of exploitation.

    1. Yes, I think that’s why a lot of people hesitate to be vulnerable.

      1. Vulnerability is not always a choice

        1. Yeah, that’s true. Sometimes it’s our only option.

    Great quote!

  33. I hope you are beginning to feel better. Brown’s quote reminds us to be willing to step out and take a chance. Sometimes opportunity rewards the risk we take on. With March acting more like a lion than a lamb, central Ohio is looking forward to more spring-like days . . . hopefully.

    1. I’m much better now, thanks so much. That’s a great interpretation of the quote and what I thought when I read it too. Hopefully, spring will come quickly.

  34. The Brene Brown quote is spot on. Vulnerability is the key that can unlock so much in our lives and relationships. Sadly, men seem to resist it so much and I believe that is the source of many of the ills men suffer, and it leads to the suffering of those in men’s lives. It doesn’t have to be that way.

I’m sorry things have been up and down for you and hope everything will settle into a more sustainable rhythm, for you. Sleep is a big part of that, so it’s worth keeping at that part of it, IMHO.

    1. So glad you enjoyed the quote and yes I agree. I think it’s unfortunate that men are much more resistant to being vulnerable and expressing feelings in general. Many tend to bottle things up more than women.

Thanks so much and I hope so too.

      1. You’re welcome!

  35. nice quote but a bit long. Glad you’re better. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Thanks so much 😊
