As you guys know, my parents and I have been through a lot in the last few months so I haven’t had the time to go out much. However, I did go out in July and realised I hadn’t shared that post yet so I decided to do that today. We visited a newly opened (at the time) restaurant located at the Gem Forest Hotel. It’s called Kahani Restaurant Nairobi and here’s my review and experience of it.
Before I get into the review, just wanted to let you guys know that the video version of this post, Kahani Restaurant Nairobi Review And Experience, is also up now. If you’d like to watch it you can check it out:
The Ambiance

It was such a beautifully decorated place, we loved the ambiance. The chandeliers were really pretty and so were the tables and Indian style wall decorations. They were also selling some (very expensive lol) jewellery on the side which was interesting. Also, I love how my makeup turned out. I was going for a glowy, bronzed look.
The Menu
They offered lots of different options on the menu including vegan, vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

The Drinks

The drinks were so delicious, fresh and refreshing. I forgot the names but they were mocktails.
The Food
We started with these crunchy things, I don’t know what they’re called but they’re a very popular Indian snack. We didn’t order these, they just bring them as an appetiser. They’re really fun to eat and taste good with the chutneys. There’s also some fried papad with it.

We started with some dhokla chaat (as a Gujarati dhokla is a big part of my life lol), kachori chaat, gobi pakoda and veg soya matar keema pav (the curry with the buns). It was all super delicious but it was spicier than I expected. We really enjoyed it but if you can’t handle too much spice I would recommend asking them to make it less spicy in advance.

For the main course we got some naan and more pav (buns) for the keema. With the naan, we got some corn and paneer bhurji. Again, everything was delicious but spicy. We also got the veg ishtew pot pie but I can’t seem to find the picture for it. It was really rich and had a strong coconut taste, very South Indian in flavour. I loved it.

For dessert, my cousin asked them to custom make something since we were celebrating a birthday and of course he added the silly message as an inside joke.

The dessert was filled with raspberry jam and was the perfect balance of sweet and sour.

One of my cousin brother’s also got this mava cake which he really enjoyed. It came with some tutti fruity ice cream.

Overall
Overall, we had such an amazing time at Kahani Restaurant and we’ll definitely be visiting again. The staff were so kind, helpful and friendly. Since we had different dietary preferences they were really nice about talking to us about the ingredients and stuff. We explored the hotel after the meal because we actually forgot our leftovers and had to drive back to get it lol. So we ended up exploring the hotel and it’s actually so beautiful. Here’s me at the pool:
