The Dumb Thing I Did This Week (Halloween Addition)

I Did A Dumb Thing | I Did Something Dumb

As has been established by now, I’ve done a lot of dumb things in my life and continue to do dumb things. I also like to share the particularly amusing dumb things I’ve done here. Why don’t I just stop doing dumb stuff? Well, that’s really none of your business is it? Anyway, I thought I would share the dumb thing I did this week with y’all because I thought it was really funny and hope you will too.

The Dumb Thing I Did This Week

At the start of the week I began looking to see if anything fun was happening on Halloween that I wanted to be a part of. I noticed that a restaurant was having a murder mystery dinner which sounded right up my alley. I called them and they were like no actually it’s the other branch. She gave me two numbers for the other branch.

I tried the first one and an irritated man picked up and told me this was his private number. I’m assuming from his voice that this had happened to him before lol. The second one didn’t go through at all. So I thought I’d call the first branch again and let them know these were wrong numbers. But accidentally I dialled that guys number again and when he picked up I was like “is this Branch 1?” and he was SO pissed lol. Poor dude, I felt so bad but couldn’t help but find the situation funny.

Anyway, I did Google and find the actual number for the other branch and they gave me the details but unfortunately they only accepted groups of four or more for the party. And I was on my own so I ended up not going. But yeah, this was my dumb thing I did this week lol.

What dumb thing have you done recently? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I could write a book……

  2. It seems like the person you dialed twice needs a serious chill pill, Pooja! 😂 Everyone does stupid stuff and yours truly has made some whopper bad decisions over the years. Stuff happens. 👍🏻

    1. Haha for sure! We’re all that way, we’re human we make mistakes 🤷🏻‍♀️

      1. Oh yeah! 😂

  3. Ooh! A murder mystery would have been so fun! I would have changed my number by now if I was that guy. He’s just silly.

    1. I know, I was so disappointed not to be able to go. Lol agreed, why didn’t he just change his number.

  4. We’ve all been there

    1. For sure, as humans we make mistakes.

  5. Well the worst thing would be to go out on Halloween just as I would on any other day without dressing in costume and find the kids screaming and running away in terror thinking it was a spirit. 🙂

    1. Lol that would definitely be awful. 🙂

  6. The dumbest thing I did was thinking for hours to plan and write a blog post here on my birthday, two days back.
I was excited in the morning, then felt confused till the afternoon, and starting feeling sad in the evenings.
So I just passed entire day on reflecting on 1) the feedbacks of my past actions, good or bad, and 2) want to do something meaningful in my upcoming life, like getting strictly aligned with my life goals.
I am interested in behaving like a responsible and mature man. The teenage days are over, you know.

I really liked your yesterday’s post. It felt like you were speaking through/by my heart.
    Some highlights I share:

    1. “ Can you even believe it’s November? Like I literally can’t believe it. It feels like just yesterday I was talking about my new years resolutions and now I’m thinking of how I’ll celebrate the end of the year. The older I get, the more I find myself thinking about how short our life actually is.”
The last line is a really good observation and a mature statement.

    2. “But I’m hoping to go out more. And also to be more active. And spend more time drawing and writing instead of staring at a screen for hours.”
Yeah, I like spending more time offline. I did that actually in the last few weeks, and enjoyed.

    1. Happy belated birthday! I’m always very sad on my birthday, I guess it makes sense it’s the day our problems start lol.

I’m glad that post resonated with you.

      1. I didn’t celebrate my birthday therefore this year.
It keeps you so overwhelmed for entire 24 hours.

And for the rest year there’s no one to hear year?😌

        1. Oh, I forgot…thank you so much, Pooja! I’m grateful for the genuine wishes by genuine people. It means a lot.🤗🧡

          1. You’re very welcome! 😊💗

        2. That’s so true, it’s how I often feel about my birthday too.

  7. Ha ha that was funny. That guy could have been a little bit more patient. But your story made me remember when my wife and I were helping my dad with his flower shop. We were delivering flowers. The store (well his two employees) was putting the flowers that needed to be delivered on a table with the associated address. So, my wife and I grabbed a bouquet. It was for condolences for someone who had died.

Once we got there the woman who opened the door told us that it was the third time someone had tried to deliver flowers to her that day with condolences, but she did not know anyone who had died. In addition, it looked like it was the same bouquet every time.

What had happened was that my dad had tried to deliver the bouquet, but it turned out that the people whom the flowers were for had moved and had sold the house to new owners did not know anything about them, or their death in the family. So, he put the flowers back on the table but forgot to tell the rest of us about the situation. Next my brother and his wife took the same bouquet with the condolences card and tried to deliver but with the same result. He just put the bouquet back on the table and next my wife and I repeated the procedure. It must have felt a bit morbid to have three bouquets, all looking the same, erroneously delivered to your house with a condolences card three times in the same day.

    1. Omg that poor lady, she must have been so confused by the constant flower deliveries. But yeah these mishaps definitely happen sometimes.

  8. A place I used to work at had phone number close to a popular retail store so we got lots of wrong number calls. One day a person from the store called in sick to our number. My boss knew the person and strung them along saying they had no excuse and to report to work immediately. I could write a book about dumb things I’ve done so can’t think of the best one at the moment. (Maybe stepping off a step ladder from the 3rd rung up would be in the top 10, lol)

    1. Omg lol that person must have been so weirded out haha. Oh no, the ladder incident sounds awful. But yeah we all make dumb mistakes and probably often.

  9. We all do many dumb things. So don’t worry. It’s part of life. This week I tried to convince people at work to improve their situation. The reaction I got was….well I felt dumb.

    1. Yup, it’s definitely very human to do dumb things sometimes. Sorry to hear that, I’ve learned not to share advice even if it improves others situation simply because some people don’t want to improve they just want to complain.

  10. oops…it must have been painful for him lol…😬😂
sorry you didn’t get to go, Pooja…sounds like a great event …
    🤍

    1. Lol I think it was and it’s fine maybe next year I’ll find three more people to go with 😊

      1. 🤍🌷🤗

  11. 🙏🌹

    Aum Shanti

    1. Whenever I do something dumb now, I’m like my readers will be so amused I have to share this on the blog 😅 Nothing dumb about dancing and being joyful, those who judge will always judge but we have to focus on our own happiness.

      1. Please Do It
        It always makes
        me SMile☺️🙌💫

  13. I sympathize with that calling the wrong number thing. When I had my first cell phone, if you started dialing up a number, it would show all the numbers similar that you had called. So I misdialed a number. Then proceeded to accidentally call the poor guy 3 more times because I’d think I’d dial the correct number but it was just showing the misdialed number.
I think he had caller ID so by the 4th time he just let it ring, hahahahaha 😀

    1. Oh no haha, he must have been irritated by the last time. But yeah, these things happen- we’re only human after all 😅

    Things like this happen.

    1. Yup, they definitely do.

  15. I can imagine how that guy would be feeling.

    1. Yeah, I felt bad for bothering him so much 😅

      1. I think he must be thinking it was a joke

        1. Yeah, he may think I was prank calling him or something.

  16. I don’t know, it seems to me you were trying to get through in earnest to the planners. You should have been given the right numbers in the first place. I often drop things and lately it’s been dropping one thing that falls on another and another. So there’s a pile of things to fix. I suppose in part it’s because I’m packing here and there for moving, though I don’t know where I’m going yet. I hope you’ve been having a good All Souls Day, and I hope this new week is pleasant for you.

    1. Yeah, I think I did it in good faith but the execution wasn’t great haha. I’m a dropper too so I understand. Good luck with moving, hope it’s all going smoothly. Thanks and you too!

  17. I could write a novel, Pooja. I feel doing dumb things is just a part of being human.🙄

    1. Oh absolutely, we all do dumb things regularly- it’s very human 😅

  18. Wait a minute…if you are doing something for a helpful reason, like telling Branch #1 that they had the wrong number…can it really be dumb? I don’t think so!

    1. True, I did have the best intentions haha!

  19. If dialing a wrong number is a postable dumb thing for you, we need to talk. I myself try to keep myself to below 6 dumb things before lunch. For instance yesterday I put toothpaste on my comb, I not sure if I was brushing my teeth or combing my hair but either way I was still asleep. Also on the same day I put mu K-cup in the microwave the wondered why the machine only gave me hot water. I found it a while later. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Lol, at least your hair probably smelt minty fresh after that 😅

  20. We celebrated my brother’s 70th birthday this past August at a murder mystery dinner. I really liked it but the rest of our party was not impressed.

    1. That honestly sounds like the perfect way to spend your birthday, I may steal that idea. Perhaps the rest of them were thrown off by the murder…

  21. Probably sharing certian things too much online that I then deleated for privacy reasons. Also staying up way too late at nigh recently telling myself I’d just ‘wing it’ the next day…

    1. Been there, done that for sure haha. I’ve been doing the same and staying up too late as well but I want to get it together this month. It’s very human I think, to do things not in our best interest.

  22. Was it a dumb thing? I’m not sure
I’d say you tried and it didn’t work out
It’s a brave thing. Stay brave, keep trying

    1. Thank you, will definitely continue to do so.

      1. Not exactly failing in your intentions but trying to make them true. Good luck

        1. Yeah, I get what you mean. Keep trying stuff. Thanks.

  23. It must be a day that ends with -y because I’m always doing something dumb lol.

    1. Lol same here.

  24. I sympathise! I’ve had a bad week trying to connect up TV and internet to our new home! Nightmare!

    1. Sorry to hear that, hope everything is up and running now!

  25. I don’t think that was a dumb thing… you got bad advice, and someone was rude for no reason. People get wrong numbers all the time… chill, folks!

    1. Haha yeah, the dumb part was that I called him back by mistake but he could definitely have been more chill!

      1. That’s a mistake anyone could make. Being patient and helpful would probably help him get less calls that aren’t his to deal with! 😅

  26. I agree with a lot of other commenters in believing that what you did wasn’t dumb. But let me tell ya! I could list SO many dumb stuff that I’ve done before and have a good laugh about it. Lol! And that’s because unfortunately, I’ve done a lot more dumb things than smart things. But at least I’m doing better in that department these days. Lol!

    1. The dumb part was calling him a second time to ask for a different restaurant lol and I feel you, I do dumb stuff all the time too 😅 We live, we learn 💕

  27. The guy works with the public. He could have laughed with you and guided you once again. I’m sorry the evening didn’t work out for you, Sweet Pooja.

    1. Thanks and yeah he could have definitely been more pleasant. Hopefully, they’ll have it again next year and I’ll be able to attend.

  28. Not a dumb thing at all – sorry you couldn’t go this time, maybe you’ll find an even better event to attend soon!

    1. Thanks and yeah I’m remaining hopeful!
