Drowning In Ecstasy

photo of man looking at sophisticated woman | Drowning In Ecstasy

She licks the icing off the tip of her finger

Slowly, seductively

You can’t take your eyes off her

What is this sorcery?

Your breathing grows rapid

Faster and faster

Only one thought in your mind, vapid

You are the pawn and she the master

Drowning in ecstasy

Breathless, desperate, overpowered by instinct

You are finally free

Deeper and deeper in the sea of pleasure you sink

About Drowning In Ecstasy:

Huh, for the second time in my life I may be at a loss of words. I honestly have no idea what inspired this poem, I rarely write poetry that doesn’t end with a double homicide or something lol. I’ve had a bit of an odd day, perhaps even an odd week. So my brain is maybe in a weird place and so I came up with a poem I probably would not have otherwise.

I’ve also really been enjoying Christopher’s poetry, his blog is called Philosophical Qualms. His poems are really amazing and a number of them do tend to be more on the romantic side. They’re great and I think reading them may have subconsciously inspired this one in a way. This is one of the fun parts of blogging, reading what other bloggers share and being inspired by them.

What did you think of this poem? Were you expecting a twist that never came lol? Let me know in the comments section below. Or simply stop by and say hi!

  1. Frankly, I was thoroughly surprised she didn’t attack and eat his innards. But it is beautiful nonetheless. 🤣😎🙃

    1. There’s always time lol 😂

  2. I have to say this was great, Pooj! I totally got into it!

    1. Thank you so much!

  3. Wow! My jaw dropped! That was absolute fire! 🔥 I need a fan after that one! 🪭😅 That was so freaking incredible! I was literally waiting for the homicide to happen at the end, and it didn’t! 😂🤣

I’m very honored that I’ve inspired you in that manner! And I’m so eternally grateful for the shout-out! 🙏🏻 Thank you so freaking much! I hope more of these inspirations come your way. Because that one poem was better than all of the rest of mine combined! You’ve absolutely made my day Pooj! 😊💗

    1. Thank you so much! Omg that’s so sweet of you to say but you’re still very much the pro, I’m still learning! 💗💗🤗

      1. It’s my honor! I appreciate you! It looks like to me you’re getting the hang of it fairly quickly then! 😉💗💗💗🤗

  4. Wow!!!! I am not sure what I expected, but I REALLY enjoyed the journey you took us on from the outset. Loved it!!!!

    1. Thank you, so glad you liked the poem!

  5. Yes very different for you, nice work.

    1. Thank you so much.

  6. The poem makes me think of the movie I’ve seen a long time ago. Back in Soviet times you couldn’t really watch those movies, they were nowhere to be found. All the good stuff was pirated with a voice over the english you could here. The funniest part is that the voice over was deeply nasal, the nose of the interpreter was pinched to stay unknown. When we were young we didn’t know that and thought it was the cool way to talk.

    1. That’s so interesting, we used to have pirated movies in Kenya too- they made up a chunk of my childhood memories haha.

      1. The selection of the movies we had available is also random , they were all on the video cassettes

  7. Lust is a very dangerous thing to entertain.

    1. Yup, it very much can be.

      1. After my divorces, I know better. 😂

        1. That’ll do it 😅

  8. I happened to be experiencing rapid breathing at the same time as I was reading your poem. I am fine now but was a little worried!

    1. Hopefully, the poem wasn’t to blame!

  9. “Oh, she’s just so…SASSY!!” 😂😉🌶️🌶️
    Seriously, though, great poem!

    1. Haha she sure is! Thank you so much 😊

  10. Yes I think I would have been turned on by the icing in my reckless youth too. 🙂

    1. Haha that’s fair 🙂

  13. A beautiful poem Pooja. ♥️

    1. Thank you so much 😊

      1. You’re very welcome

  14. I like the icing on the cake on her because she wears it well, and you wear your poem well too. Yes, faster and faster, ecstasy is good for the heart. Let them eat cake. No need for a twist ’cause we all know what happened to Marie Antoinette. Enjoyed your change of voice and address to the reader.
I sometimes write poems with a change of voice or point-of-view. I wrote one with a different narrator than myself but it’s written by me. I find it hard to do that. I see you’ve done that easily. I started with “They call me Elani, the best painter of Nudes
but I needed my boyfriend to volunteer…” (Painting a Nude by Elani Babe)

    1. Thanks. Interesting, it’s fun to switch up POV’s. Will definitely check it out.

  15. Excellent poem, Pooja. A little lust can be exciting. Means we are alive and well!

    1. Thanks so much. Yup, it keeps life exciting!

  16. I was waiting for that homicide twist that you’re known for ( 😉 ) and voila, it never appeared. That made me laugh that you mentioned that very thing in your post, hahahaha.

    1. Had to mention it, I never thought I would write homicide free poetry some day 😅 Maybe the twist is there is no twist this time 😉

  17. Well…he may drown in that sea, so maybe there’s the twist? Well penned, Pooja! 💞💞💞

    1. Haha yes, that may be it! Thank you 😊💕

  18. Ooh-la-la! A sensual, and delightful poem. Well done, Pooja!

    1. Thank you so much! 😊

      1. You’re most welcome, Pooja.

  19. Great poem, Pooja! A bit of desire keeps things interesting, right? Shows we’re living life to the fullest!

    1. Thank you so much, sure does!

  20. Excellent work Pooja👏👏👏

    1. Thank you 😊

      1. You are welcome

  21. Tantalizing poetry, but I’m pretty sure he’s going to drown, (lol) said from my morbid side! I like the variation ~ well done <3

    1. You know my poetry well enough to know he probably will lol! 😅

  22. Spicy! I guess your subconscious was someplace else today…

    1. Haha I guess so, thank you!

  23. absolutely stunning poem, in love with every word❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

    1. Thank you so much 😊

    Cool poem!

  26. When I read and then re-read your poem, I found two poems. The first line going to the third line, then the fifth, and so. The second line with the fourth and sixth and on. I don’t know why I thought this. More importantly, your work (as one work) is clever and creative, as always. I forgot to look for murder.

    1. Thank you so much. So glad you caught that and really happy you enjoyed it!

  27. Sensual, great poem!

    1. Thanks so much!

  28. I like the poem. Yes, I was waiting for the twist at the end, lol.

    1. Glad you liked it, the twist with this one is there is no twist lol.

  29. This poem slowly, seductively raised the temperature in the room, as did that image selected to accompany it. Both worked very well together to make a lasting impression.

    1. Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed both.

  30. I waited for the twist in tale…lol

wow, Pooja … this one needed no twist…😋

    1. Haha thanks so much, the twist this time is there was no twist 😅🤭💗

      1. pleasure always…🤍

  31. Also liking that the initials of Drowning In Ecstasy can form the word DIE. It’s like the person who never thought of (and never saw) her licking icing (in the way she does) does DIE (and/or ended and becomes changed because of what she’s doing). DIElicious work, P.J.!

    1. Ooh I didn’t even think of that. Thank you so much!

  32. finger-lickin-good as they say!!

  33. Its nice to see you branch out and expand.

    1. Thanks so much.

      1. Of course. Keep on expanding your branches.

  36. Beautiful poem 💝

    1. Thank you so much 😊
