Bertrand Russell Quote

Quote Of The Day

Bertrand Russell Quote:

Bertrand Russell Quote

What’s Up With Pooj?

It’s been a minute since I did one of these!

The weather has been lovely in Nairobi, by which I mean it’s been nice and cold just how I like it.

Last weekend, my cousin and I went to Afri-love Fest which was an incredible experience.

Afri-Love Fest Nairobi Kenya

I had no idea what to expect because we had only found out about it and decided to go last minute to support Pocket Libraries (please feel free to follow their page!). Which we of course did. My cousin signed up for a membership and we participated in the Letter To A Stranger activity that they offer where you write a letter to a stranger and pick a letter from a stranger.

We also got some sweet treats, of course!

Ice lollies
Gelato ice cream

And we got a caricature done. This was my first time trying a caricature and we laughed so hard when we saw the finished picture! This is the artists instagram if you would like to follow him and support his art: https://www.instagram.com/sospitamwakilanga/

  1. The quote seems to me to refer to the fact that we like the superficial around us rather than being capable of delving into the beauties and wisdom already there and waiting for us to notice.

    1. Yes, I think that’s very much the case.

Sounds like a beautiful weekend, and the caricature made me smile… Wishing you another week filled with laughter, meaningful moments, and a few more sweet treats along the way. 😊

    1. Thanks so much. Have a lovely week too 😊

  3. What an awesome caricature! You look older by design, I’m sure it was intentional. The quote hit me, last month I have been working on a very sensitive and old issue, my therapist, my old friend and tarot cards gave me one unanimous answer, almost word for word. It is proof that the universe has been waiting patiently for how many years? I feel like I got at least 20 years wiser than I was a month ago. I might be blogging about this epiphany but in reality it’s too close to home. Love to see / hear more about your adventures, keep us posted, Pooj

    1. Yesss we loved the caricature! We were chatting and I was complaining about getting older so he decided to incorporate that into it lol.
I think you were ready to hear the answer right now. I’m glad you were able to heal and feel better.
      Thank you, will do.

      1. I’m not sure healing is a quick thing but I do hope so. I think better late than never.

        1. It’s not quick since it takes a lot of work but it’s very worth it.

          1. Once you start the journey

  4. Hi Pooja!

These are some beautiful experiencess. Life is full of small moments and you don’t know what appears the next.

    • I have been reading something secretly recently.
I realise I am an active member of the Internet despite denying it manytimes.
I have access to the relevant information. I gets to about the people, their childhood stories, education, adolescent experiences, college life, their relatives, internships and placements.

I got to know that I am not only one someone unique of my kind. There are many more people who are like me in many ways.
This somehow doesn’t make me feel lonely. At the same time I able to recognise when life feels little dramatic and there are chances that I might mess up things.

Getting inform provides you a holistic picture. It helps in stabilizing oneself; you stay focused.

    • Another thing is I struggled eating food normally. The normal food felt more spicy than usual.
I thought this is happening because of heat and dehydration.

I started drinking cold water often. I tried icecream.😋

Because of this problem I had to cancel an important journey. I cancelled some invitations.

But the problem increased recently, in the last week— there were multiple red spots on my tongue and mouth (the anxious me thought— is this first stage cancer).

I went to the hospital on yesterday. I received some medication.
Today I feel slightly better than how I was in the last 3-4 days.

    • I will be reading some research work on History in this week.
Will publish a post about it here on my blog.

    • I lost 3 online friends in the last two weeks. Genuinely it hurts.
It is important to make changes as we move ahead. And the real life remains A PRIORITY for most people over the online life.
And I agree with my friends here.

I will continue interacting with existing friendships. I will keep supporting positive causes/actions, both online and offline.

Then I am focusing on my life rather than clinging to the people I never met in real life.
It makes sense to not get attach with someone on an online platform. Again… liking and attachment is natural. You don’t feel safe with every random person.

I am just interested in summing up a conversation peacefully. There is no space for negativity. There is no space for hate.

But I say no to one-sided conversations.
    1. It feels odd to share your daily life with an stranger whom you don’t know properly.
    2. It is also important that you don’t continue a talk when it feels risky for you and the other person.

    Hope you are good.
    Wishing you good health.💪🏼

    Enjoy! 😄🤭

    1. Oh wow, that sounds like quite an ordeal. Are you able to eat now? What happened?

I’m trying to focus on the positive too and it feels good to do so. And of course, boundaries are important.

I am and you as well!

      1. I went to the hospital and received some medication from there. Also I made changes in my diet.
Since then I have recovered largely, but not completely. It looks like it is a slow process.

But yeah I am able to eat normally again. 🙂
Usually I go through this problem in the Summers.

        1. Oh I see, I’m glad you’re healing even if it is slowly.

  5. Great post…

    1. Thanks so much.

  6. Can’t go wrong with ice cream and sunsets

    1. Yup, sweet treats are always a yes.

  7. 🙏🌹

    Aum Shanti

  8. I love the caricature and the quote. It has finally stopped raining here and it is now officially mosquito and other bugs season, lol.

    1. Thanks so much. Lol it’s mosquito season here too- I’m being eaten alive.

      1. I imagine that our mosquito season is much shorter than yours. Generally mid May to early Sept here. Have a great week.

        1. Yeah, ours is most of the year. Have a great weekend.

  9. I love the quote as it’s all a matter of perspective and how we choose to see the world and let it support us. What a fun time and how cool did something spur of the moment with your cousin who you love. Too funny on the caricature’s.. I’m laughing too.. It’s sooo not you. at least I don’t think so, do you?. 😂

    1. Yes, I think perspective matters so much!
I’m not usually a spur of the moment type but this was so fun!
      Definitely not me lollll 😂

  10. Sounds like a great festival.

    1. It was, we had a lovely time.

      1. Awesome 👏🏼

  11. So how did that letter from a stranger work?
I mean, I’m sure you don’t write stuff like “Hi! I’m Bookstooge, I live at X, please come stalk me, it’ll be a hoot”. Is it more platitudes or something completely different?
I like the idea, being so words oriented, so I’m curious how they organized it.

    1. I mean you could but it’s advised not to keep it anonymous. Basically, you just write what’s in your heart, whether it’s advice or a few kind words or anything really.

The quote for me means to look what is around and think about what we have. The caricature was funny and the place looks awesome.

    1. Yeah, that’s how I think of the quote too. To stop focusing on the negative and noticing the positive.
It was lovely and the caricature had us laughing so much.

  13. Love the quote, and yes, let’s smarten up and appreciate what we have. What a fun time you had, and I love the caricature!

    1. Absolutely, we need to notice and appreciate the good around us. Yes, it was lovely and the caricature was the best part!

  14. A warm and engaging personal update that blends thoughtful reflection with everyday joys, inviting readers into a moment of connection, curiosity, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. 😊✨

    1. Thank you so much 😊

  15. Nice quotes

    1. Thanks so much.

  16. The world is indeed a magical place. So much left for me to discover.
Loved the caricature lol. Artists are ao bloody talented.

    1. Yes, so much magic in this world. Yes, so incredibly talented and this artist only took like 10 minutes which was so impressive.

      1. This is what always amazes me about these caricatures. Its done in a flash, and they look way better than anything that would probably take me weeks to pull off lol.

        1. Exactly, same here. It would have taken me like a month to draw that and I wouldn’t have the skills to do it this well haha.

  17. Great quote. 🤣😎🙃

    1. I really liked it too, though I’d share it this week.

    1. Yes, the present is the true gift!

  19. I think sometimes we miss what is in front of us. I wrote a blog about that, “Staring in my face” about clippers which got lost and how I talked myself into someone coming and taking them until I found them hidden where they were right alone….sometimes you have the best and you keep looking for greener pastures but with time, as you get older, you see you were lucky. The harder you worked, the more luck came.

    1. Pooja, I typed a response to you in my About section. I hope I spelled your name correctly. I believe I did. Let me know if you see it. Thanks.

      1. I’ll check it out, thanks for letting me know.

      2. You did spell it correctly, don’t worry.

    2. So true, we especially miss the good stuff if we’re busy focusing on the negative. I’m glad you found it and it taught you something so important. It’s all about being happy with what we have.

  20. I love the quote! And what a fun outing. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thanks, it was a wonderful experience!

  21. Such a fun and meaningful post, Pooja. I’m glad you went to the festival and had such a good time (and sweet treats). The caricature is great; I trust you’ll put it up somewhere, respectfully. Thank goodness, your weather is pleasant! The Russell quotation is insightful in a way that is both romantic and challenging. The world does have magic in it, doesn’t it? And I guess Russell says we’ll catch the magic things or not, if we’re able, if we’re sharp. I wish (pray) for many, many good days with good experiences for you.

    1. Thank you so much. I’m glad we went too. It was so last minute but ended up being lots of fun. The weather was hot but the sweet treats helped lol!
Yes, I think when we really take a look around the world is full of magic. We just forget at times when life gets tough.
Thanks and wishing the same for you.

  22. Sounds like a perfect weekend. I’m glad that everything is going well.

    1. Thank you so much, it really was.

  23. Looks like a great time. Glad to see you living in the sunshine.

    1. Yes, it was so much fun. It was too sunny though lol.

  24. Love the quote! I remember running across it some time ago…such a gem! Love the pics…thanks for taking us along. And now I have the best song in my head….thank you, Pooj! 💝💝💝

    1. Thank you! I just finished reading Surviving Sue the other day and wow, just wow. Working on my review now 💗

      1. Pooja!!!! Thank you so much. I’m honored…and grateful. You’ve got so much heart and depth…I know you heard and “saw” me by reading. Means a lot. I look forward to your review.
        Much love! ❤️❤️❤️

        1. You’re most welcome! I definitely did “see” you so much better after reading it and I can’t imagine difficult it was for you and for Lisa too. But the fact that you were still able to break free from that trauma and be such an incredible human being is amazing ❤️

          1. Awww…thank you! I know I’m in the good company of many others who’ve also persevered. My purpose for writing all about life with Sue — helping others connect with their strength. Big hugs, dear Pooja! ❤️😉❤️

            1. I think you did just that! Hugs 🤗❤️

  25. P. J.,thank you for sharing a slice of life. The quote reminds me that sometimes I am not ready to embrace something because of my impatience.

    1. Happy to do so and glad the quote was a reminder of that.

  26. Awesome quote! It seems like you all have fun, and I love the caricature.

    1. Glad you liked the quote. Yes, it was a lovely time!

  28. We are too often blind to the beauty

    1. Yes, so many times we focus on the negative instead.

  29. Caricatures are always fun. Glad you had a good time, Pooja.

    1. Thanks so much, yeah they were a blast.

  30. Hi Pooj! The festival sounds like fun! Gorgeous sunset! I love it! 🌻🌻👌👌🌹🌹

    1. Thank you so much! And I want to thank you again for reviewing my book, not sure if you got my comment on that post but I left it recently because I initially missed it! Hugs 🤗💗

  31. Awesome quote! And CONGRATULATIONS on the book! 📕! I want follow in your footsteps someday!

    1. Thank you! I know you’ll get there one day too!
