You pushed me And I fell to the floor And you held me in your arms as I cried And you promised “never again” And I believed you And then you slapped me And you promised “never again” And I believed you And then you kicked me And said it was my fault And I believed you And then you broke my arm And said that I provoked you And I believed you And then you said you were going to kill me And I believed you
This poem, “Hurt Me” is about what it feels like to be trapped in the cycle of an abusive relationship. It does not get better- it just gets worse. To anyone reading this who is in such a relationship you need to leave right away- it is not worth it. No matter what you look or feel like, you are worth so much more and deserve to be in a happy and stable relationship. Abusive relationships are unhealthy and can cause severe physical and mental damage to those involved.
“Evil comes from the abuse of free will” – C. S. Lewis
