You’re sick
And twisted
With your mind games
You control my every move
Your selfish needs
I am forced to prioritize
You have me
And it’s still not enough for you
You need to drain me
Of everything I am
Of everything I ever was
I am nothing more to you
Than your favourite toy
To play with
Than destroy
But I won’t let you win
I will never let you win
I will fight you
Maybe not today
Maybe not even tomorrow
But one day
I will break free
“Twisted” is a poem I wrote. It’s about society and how societal norms often hold us back. They exist to keep us in small boxes so that we are just like everyone else. Any form of detention from these norms are often punished with micro aggressions. Unfortunately, this forces many to conform. However, I have never been one of those people. I like being myself and if that doesn’t work with societal norms I don’t think too much of it.
