I’m Done With WordPress

If you read yesterdays post you probably know that I was having trouble with my WordPress site. I was not surprised because that happens quite often because WordPress does have quite a few bugs it needs to work on. The problem was that I was not able to like or follow other blogs/posts.

I contacted the Happiness Engineers and although they were very nice they were not able to fix the problem and I was told the team was working on it. I was busy yesterday so I just hoped for the best and moved on. Today I did a bit more research and from other peoples experience it says that apparently WP blocks you from from liking and following if you like or follow too many.

Here’s the problem with that- I have about 18.6k followers- obviously I am going to be following quite a few blogs and I get about a hundred comments a day. When someone comments on my blog I generally head over to their blog and also leave a like and comment because I really think WP is a two-way street and the best way to get people to engage with your posts is to engage on theirs. If you have ever liked or commented on one of my posts you probably noticed that I liked/commented on your as well.

Since I get about a hundred comments a day and let’s say like half of them are replies I still end up visiting like 50 blogs a day and leaving likes/comments. Because of my university starting again for the fall semester I have been forced to stick to a pretty tight schedule. I schedule out about an hour every day to like/comment on other blogs that have liked/commented on mine. I also spend like 15 minutes a day going through new followers and follow back blogs I like- usually like 5 a day.  I get about 50 followers a day so I don’t think 5 a day is that bad.

Anyway, since WP’s system sucks- they literally let actual bots and spammers through- I think I have been blocked because you can’t like more than like 15 blog posts an hour and you can’t follow more than a certain amount of blogs overall. Some people online said you can’t undo this block. If that’s the case I’m not sure if I can keep blogging anymore. My favourite part of blogging has always been interacting with other blogs and now I’m scared to even comment on other blogs in case it blocks me from commenting.

I hate how unhelpful the WP system is. It’s so frustrating. They never listen to their followers- like with what happened with the new editor- and they are EXTREMELY unhelpful when you actually need their help. They’re super nice and polite but just don’t seem to be equipped to handle literally almost any situation. They give you almost no information about what’s going on. I’m just super pissed. I feel like years of hard work just went down the drain. I’m done. I’m VERY done with WP. I am going to try and leave comments on all your blogs though even if I can’t like them. Until I get blocked that is- probably going to happen soon I’m guessing. Anyway, sorry I can’t like your blogs but just know that I will still support other blogs somehow- probably by commenting on them considering that’s literally all I can do right now.

If you don’t see any posts from me for a while or in case this is the last time we communicate I just want to wish everyone the best with their blogging and everything in their life. I hope this awful year ends and things start getting better really soon.

Edit: They have blocked me- I got an email. They seem to have mistaken how many followers I have with how many blogs I follow. When I sent them proof of this with screenshots they stopped responding- this was a few hours ago. I am beyond done with this situation.

  1. This sounds a lot like IG! This is crazy and I’m sorry you had to go through that. I completely get it though and hope it gets sorted out soon 🙂

        1. Indeed… I even created new accounts and just realized that they put the previous ones back to normal… Now I have too many profiles 😐 I think they should specify how long the restriction lasts so that we know what do do

    1. Yeah that happened to me once on IG and I got blocked for like a few hours and than it happened again and I was blocked for 24 hours. It was so annoying. Like don’t start a social platform if you don’t want people to socialise. Thank you!

  2. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this frustration. I’ve not come across this before, and I’ve been using WordPress for a long time. I do recommend WP for website management, but this might make me rethink that.

      1. There are many bugs on WP Pooja – and some intended. My son, who is a seasoned techie is always surprised at these problems on a platform like WP 😌
All the best for your exams 😊🤗

    1. Thank you and I don’t want to either so I hope this gets sorted out soon or if I move to a different platform I’ll keep everyone updated.

  3. Nooooo, please don’t go! Selfishly I think you should wait to hear back from them. That’s a shame they are treating you so badly though. I’m saddened to hear this. Please if you do decide go let us all know where. I know I will follow you again! But really tho..please don’t go! 😢

    1. Thank you so much! I will definitely wait before I do anything drastic and I will keep bugging them if they don’t respond. I deserve some sort of answers about what’s happening. I will definitely let you know if I decide to move to a different platform.

  4. Dear Pooja I love your blog and I understand what you say here…Have you already upgraded to the business plan with wordpress? The only reason I ask is I wonder if those limits are set for folks who blog as a hobby as I do and not as a business…Your blog is impressive and you have come so far…I wonder would the business plan that wordpress offers be better…Just a thought of course you know best a to what works for you…I appreciate you Pooja as do all of your other fans in this blogosphere…

    1. Thank you. I have not got the Business Plan but from my research that does not really help. However, I have found some other ways that may help me- I just need to do some more research. Thanks again.

      1. You are welcome you are very bright a bright light in our dark world…I am impressed that you taught yourself SEO language no easy task…I wrote my first computer program around the age of nine or ten or eleven sorry I forget my exact age but I was really young using basic n all…

  5. Pooja, I am so sorry that WP is being a total jerk. Some have left and moved to Blogger.com in the comments I’ve seen today. I did get your comment today, thank you! I hope to follow you if you leave WP. Be well! 😊

    1. Thanks and believe me I’m used to WP acting like that. I am currently looking into moving to a different platform as well. I’m glad you got my comment on the post about your delicious food and I will definitely keep supporting your blog even if I don’t post. I will also keep everyone updated if I move to a different platform so you can follow me there too!

      1. Are you moving to Blogger? I won’t comment there because Google demands you have an account. I despise anything Google, sorry. Nothing personal. I see the TV commercials for Square Space, something I’ve considered.

          1. There you go – I’ve considered this too. I started blogging on Blogger years ago. It was fun until things changed, then WP came along.

                1. Don’t even get me started with that stupid useless editor they keep trying to force us to use. I am so done with the Block Editor. I have been using the classic one but it doesn’t have all the features so it’s a bit annoying too.

                  1. I found out how to continue using the classic editor from a couple of my followers, so I’ve switched back. My online chat with WP was not polite. I’ll be looking for better options while continuing here. I don’t want to leave because of the wonderful community here but how much of this BS can people take?

                    1. I stuck to being polite but I was getting extremely frustrated. You don’t need to leave the community because if you self host you’re still part of WP just that you don’t host through them. You can use the Reader too apparently.

          2. I tried hard to leave you a comment on your latest post about the crap WP is giving you. I wasn’t able to post the comment. It’s time to leave WP… I’m again looking for better options, Pooja.

            1. I will definitely keep everyone posted on self-hosting in case you would be interested in doing that. I agree it’s time to leave WP.

  6. Wow that is really bad. Good luck and I hope they do fix the issue and we continue to see you on the web either here or another platform.

  7. I’m so sad to hear of this, I really enjoy your posts😢😟
I’m definitely gonna keep in touch via Instagram.
Still hoping a miracle happens though, and the situation gets solved somehow

  8. PoojaG. I understand and share in your frustration, although my issues with WordPress pale in comparison with website servers like GoDaddy and Interserver. However, I am not posting to complain but to let you know how valuable you are to others like me, who are still neophytes when it comes to surviving online. Your SEO for Dummies series has been extremely useful. I hope you stay the course but let your student activities take precedence, of course.

    1. Thanks and yeah it really sucks- I feel like bloggers who use their platform deserve at least some kind of explanation before you block them completely.

  9. Hey Pooja….
Its definitely frustrating but your posts are very enriching and it wouldbe a pain to see you gone. I hope they find a solution soon and then y8u can get back to blogging….take care…don’t lose hope….hugs💐🤗🎀

  10. I know this may sound stupid BUT I had issues with them and almost didn’t even come back to it but I switched browsers . From Chrome to Edge and while I was not a big fan of edge it does work a lot smoother and better with WP .

  11. Oh no. This is crazy! 😡 Beyond frustrating. Is doing this worthy of WP losing more users from blocking engaging blogs like you? I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. I didn’t even know that they do stuff like this. I know we’ve only begun interacting the past few days but it’s such a loss that you’re considering to go when you’re not even at fault. Is there anyway we can help you through it?

    1. I know it’s been a crazy two days. And like it’s so annoying that they don’t respond till you contact them multiple times. Thanks so much for asking but I don’t think anyone except WP can do anything right now.

      1. Hoping it’ll get fixed the soonest! Or in case you did consider to move to another blogging platform, please let us know, we’d love to still read your ideas wherever you go!

  12. Sorry to hear that Pooja – what a shame! If WordPress don’t sort it out it sounds like they might end up losing a lot of very established bloggers such as yourself. That would hurt the community greatly. For all your hard work and for being such a shining light in this wonderful community – thank you. I sincerely hope they can sort it so we don’t lose out of your lovely posts. Wishing you the very best, AP2 🙏

    1. Yeah I really hope they fix the problems with their platforms because I do like this community and would love to stay. Thank you so much that really means a lot!

  13. I’m so sorry you are having this problem. I have really learned a lot from your blog its a place I look everyday. I’m hopeful the situation gets sorted but having had to deal with WP on an issue, I totally understand where you are coming from. Still you have a significant investment of time, content and followers here. Maybe a week off to catch your breath and a good plan B is in order.
We are all rooting for you, and if you were to go with another blogging site many of us would come along.
    Karac

  14. Super sorry that you are going threw this! You are one of my favorite bloggers here and hope to continue to read your blog if you do decide to transfer over to a different platform

  15. I didn’t know WP restricts people like instagram. Sorry to hear that Pooja. I just started following you, and I have been reading your old posts too. It’s sad to see this. Hope your issue get sorted soon and we get to see more posts from you and hope, this is not the last of it.

    1. Thanks and I had no idea either- I wish they told people before randomly blocking them especially since they actually got the number of people I follow wrong.

  16. Is there any way to keep in touch outside of WP? I’m not on WP much because of school but I check WhatsApp everyday (and basic texting). You can find me at hilary_harm_7@hotmail.com if you want to connect.
Hopefully the issue gets sorted out and you decide to stay. If not, I understand. Lately WP has been super frustrating to use.

    1. Yeah I use WhatsApp daily too so I’ll email you and we can connect through that.
Thanks- I hope it gets fixed too because I do want to continue blogging. It’s just very frustrating when something like this happens and they don’t even respond properly.

  17. I’m so sorry about what you’re going through. I’ve also had issues with wordpress’ support and I can totally understand your frustration. I purchased a theme but asked for a refund because I didn’t like the look, they took almost three months to refund my money.
I really do hope this gets sorted soon, your blog is an inspiration to a lot of us and I will miss your posts dearly. I will make sure to contact you on social Media though. 💓💓

    1. Wow that’s awful- they always say you’ll get a refund but it takes forever and is a whole process. Thank you so much and yes I would love to stay in touch even if I don’t blog anymore!

          1. That is a really great idea. But also a very big step.
Just take your time to weigh the pros and cons of your available options. There’s no rush dear💓

  18. I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize WordPress had those types of problems. I have been considering switching as well but for other reasons. But I love your posts, please don’t go lol

  19. This is so frustrating. I hope this gets sorted soon and your hard work doesn’t go down the drain. Please keep us updated. Lots of strength and support to you!

  20. I’m sorry this is happening to you. I hope things get figured out. Your posts are always so helpful and you are one of the most supportive people on this platform. WP seriously needs to figure this out.

  21. I’m sorry to hear about this frustration. I’m also surprised these issues with being blocked hasn’t happened to me, because of how much I interact with other bloggers.

    1. I believe mine was a problem on their site because they seem to have got my followers vs following mixed up. I’m not sure though because they aren’t responding to my emails.

  22. That seems a shame, as you have a large number of followers who would be cast adrift and it seems you have put a huge amount of effort into getting there.

  23. Thank you for sharing. I don’t know this. WP is so unhelpful and the system is ineffective. I think they need a new algorithm. I understand they try to block automatic bots, but their algorithm is obvious flawed. However I love your posts and please don’t go.

    1. Yeah it seriously need to make some changes if their algorithm thinks someone who posts daily is a bot. Thank you and I hope I can stay!

  24. I’m so sorry you are going through all this. I usually get blocked (or maybe it’s a bug) for 15 to 30 minutes at a time, it becomes alright after that. I hope your problem gets resolved soon!

  25. Oh man, I’m not sure what to say right now…. this is concerning but with your huge following, does it really matter? Or there are other platforms which can be used which my kids actually encourage me to do. Good luck and don’t get bogged down in all of this while you’re main focus is school! If you figure it out, I’ll ship board! ❤️ Cindy

    1. Thank you! Yeah I don’t think it matters that much but it kind of takes the fun out of it if I can’t follow blogs I like. I hope they fix it or I will be moving to a different platform or self-host.

        1. I am trying to find a way through which I can migrate them if I create a new site or self-host. It’s difficult but not impossible.

          1. It’s all possible and people would follow you for sure… my son already wants me to change.. He doesn’t like wordpress and says it’s even hard for him. I would think the advantage of having everyone on one platform would be easiest.. . Keep us posted. ❤️ Good Luck!

            1. He’s so right- from what I have seen self-hosting is a bit more difficult to set up but once you have everything set up it’s so much easier to use plus you can customize pretty much everything.

    1. Hi Kathie,
Yes, WordPress.org allows more freedom. Hosting can be with any decent company.

  26. Don’t let it stop you from blogging. If you love to write and interact, then do that. Even twitter has follow restrictions. They block you from following people for a couple of hours if you follow x amount of people within a certain about of time. It’s now the system works with spamming and overload. The algorithm can’t differentiate between real activity and programmed bot actions. Don’t be scared. Just be you 🙂

  27. Sounds awfully frustrating. I know others are also struggling with WP. I dearly hope that you it works out well and that you stay. I agree the connections and conversations are what makes blogging so much more rewarding! 😭🙏🙏🤗🤗💕

  28. This sounds quite about right when it comes to WP….too much control & the happiness engineers normally aren’t able to fix issues besides the small ones. I had personally experienced it for 2 months, so I decided to close my old site. I was so fed up with circling around without any solution. At least they’re “polite” enough to tell you they’ve blocked you, which sucks big time. I’m quite sorry that you’re going through this. I really hope that you’ll be back. Your blog is inspiring & genuine….we need people like you….you’re multitalented; you bring awareness; your 6 words poetry is magnificent….I’m going to miss you….but I’m hoping you’ll be back, Pooja ❤️

  29. I can relate to how nice they can be yet not so helpful. I had an issue with my blog sometime back and they were being really polite and nice but they were doing anything just giving me links. It was so frustrating. I hope your situation gets better. 💖💖💖

    1. Yeah I feel like the happiness engineers have no idea about what to do when things go wrong. They’re just there for very basic information. Thank you.

  30. I am so sorry to hear that, I really love your blog and it helped me in so many ways as a beginner. I hope you stay in touch and have this situation sort out. Best wishes Pooja! 💖

  31. As someone who aspires to build a blog that you have, it’s very discouraging to see how WP is treating you. While WordPress.org seems like a better alternative (freedom!), I wonder if the issues will still be there since you’re still liking and following WP accounts. Not sure, but do keep us updated! You’ll definitely be giving important information to those who might suffer the same fate. All the best!

      1. Interesting. Do the same ‘limits for likes and follows’ problem still exist on .org though? Because I’m not sure where the bans happen in these case.
I myself have been blocked from liking because I spend 1-2 hours commenting and liking on others’ blogs, and I’d hate to spend five years on WP.com only to be in the same situation as Pooja.

        1. Thanks for sharing. Firstly like and comment needs to be enabled, as it is not enabled by default if you switch to WordPress.org in the plugin settings. The plugin is made by the same people who manage the WordPress.com. However, this is a little uncertain, as I myself have not noticed such a thing. So this is something that will actually need to be tried to know for sure.

        2. No, from my research it’s not a problem on .org. If you have previously been blocked please be very careful because I got blocked for an hour once or twice and then permanently blocked with no warning.

    1. So I specifically talked to them about that because I had the same concern and was worried I would still be blocked on .org but they assured me that I would not as there are no terms/conditions for following/liking on .org. I will definitely keep everyone updated and thank you!

  32. I am sorry to hear this. In WordPress I don’t get any notifications of any likes/follow/comment on my posts but I would get notification if I like/comment on other blogs —it’s completely nuts!
I hope this issue gets fixed as soon as! Sending you some love and virtual hugs🤗🤗🤗

  33. Jeez, it must’ve been such an awful thing to experience. If you ask me, WP has been acting quite weird recently. Sometimes, I’m not notified about likes/comments (either on my posts or on other blogs) at certain instances; and it’s just annoying!
I think I might have an idea about this behavior: it might be due to the increase in the number of spams or the issue of bots……to be honest, it might even be an algorithm issue. Setting that aside, do take care and take all the time you need to clear your head. You’re a stellar blogger, and your blog has indeed inspired many others to set up one of their own! 🤗🤗

    1. Yeah WP has definitely been acting very weird and it’s so annoying when they refuse to admit that. They just keep encouraging me to leave the platform and try self-hosting instead of trying to fix the problems.
      Thank you so much!!

  34. Omg, Pooja. I’m so sorry to hear this. I hate wordpress policy of making our comments go into spam if we like too many posts or comment too much. This sucks! They are threatening the very soul of the blogosphere. I hope it gets sorted out soon

    1. Thank you and I hate the spam thing too- so much real spam gets through and at the same time real comments go to the spam folder.

  35. This is so frustrating to see that WordPress is acting in such a careless manner. If they continue to do so they would definitely lose many Blogging Jewels like you. It’s been only around 15 days of me starting my blog and I have learned so many things about blogging from your blog posts in such a less time. I really don’t want to you to leave the community. I hope and pray that WordPress fix this very frustrating issue very soon.

      1. It’s very disgraceful that they didn’t helped you. It’s great that you are moving to self-hosting. I also want to learn more about self-hosting because the fact that WP controls everything is really very disappointing. It would be great help if you could discuss and write a post on self hosting and all it’s mechanism.

        1. Yeah I will definitely be writing detailed posts on how I moved mine so that everyone interested can learn how to move to self-hosting as well.

  36. I’m sorry to hear what’s happened 😞
In case things don’t pan out, I just wanted to let you know your blog has inspired me a lot. But also your connection with your followers 😊
I hope things work out in the end!

  37. Oh this is rubbish!!
How can there be a limit if you are a real person (I know you are a real person…)
Wordpress if you are monitoring this…undo this at once!
I hope you get this sorted <3

  38. Have you tried doing posting through/with the admin dashboard? WP does not have a customer service I agree. I find the bigger platforms get the less the service they provide. Good luck!

    1. Thank you! Yes, I tried that and although posting works my other features don’t which is annoying so I will be moving to self-hosted.

      1. Ok well good luck. By the way, WP makes its harder and harder to use the classic editor, which only works for me really. I mean what’s with the frickin “blocks” lol.

        1. I’m a big fan of the classic editor too- it’s just so much simpler to use- and recently I noticed they added the block editor option to the WP admin page and I am guessing they are going to get rid of the classic editor eventually which will be so sad. I know the blocks are so annoying and totally useless!

            1. Yeah I don’t understand their obsession with the block editor especially when the majority of people are telling them they don’t like it.

  39. I just experienced a glitch about an hour ago. 😪The post that was scheduled for Saturday got published while I was still working on it.😭 I was able to delete the post on the site but my email subscribers have an incomplete and unedited blog post. It just breaks my heart 💔…
Then I come and read this😭. I really never expected such problems with WordPress.

  40. Hi Pooja, Somehow, sometime, you’ll be back. Believe that, as you believe in yourself, as your followers believe in you. At the moment it seems that every way we turn something sucks big time. I would have hoped that WP, in fact all social platforms would realise what a lifeline they can be – for the isolated, for the scared, for the confused …
But it seems that this is definitely not the case. When they could have stepped up to the plate, they prefer to turn on their heel and walk away.
Now you are gearing up for your new semester, I hope all goes well for you with your studies, and that this current WP fiasco does not impact on your MH. Hang on in there – you are way better than them. Take care … and keep writing and connecting. Love Maz X

    1. Thank you so much that truly means a lot!
I hate that they never listen to people who actually use their platform and like you said socialising on here can help a lot of people with mental health problems.

  41. I would have thought WP could easily write an algorithm that can tell the difference between spambots and active users. If not, limiting interactions seems totally contrary to the whole ethos of blogging. Odd 🙁

        1. It’s even more bizarre that when someone reaches out to them and points out the mistake they still don’t unblock the site. I have no idea what’s going on with this platform.

  42. Hi Pooja, hope your issue gets resolved soon. You are among the prominent bloggers in the WordPress community. I have been noticing glitches with the like and reblog button, for some time. I usually need to refresh the page to click like or to reblog.
Your comment – “They never listen to their followers- like with what happened with the new editor”..
I have tried to find a solution for this. Hope this helps. I posted this article as it has helped me continue using the classic editor – http://www.gagandutta.com/blog/how-to-fix-wordpress-editor/
The above solution works well for those whose WordPress are self hosted. The same steps can be followed for the .com version as well, but the subscription needs to be upgraded to premium first, which may not suit everyone because of the price.
Good luck and keep blogging 🙂

    1. Thank you so much. I really appreciate you sharing that- I really dislike the new editor so that will definitely help. I have a Premium Plan so it should work. Thanks again!

  43. Oh no, this is a horrible situation. I don’t want you to leave 🙁 I really enjoy reading your blog.
I’ve had a small WordPress issue where on my phone, when I access posts through email notifications, I’ve not been able to ‘Like’ the posts. Instead I have to flag them and go back to them later on my tablet or computer to ‘Like’ them – it’s quite time consuming, but I hadn’t got round to asking the WordPress team about this yet. It wasn’t a problem until a month or so ago, so I’m unsure what happened. Maybe it’s to do with my phone updating o something. There’s definitely some bugs that need sorting.

    1. Thank you so much I really appreciate that! I have decided to move to self-hosting because there are just too many glitches and they are super unhelpful about them.

  44. I hope this gets sorted out real soon. We’d hate to loose you here. Can’t imagine how frustrating this must be. I had no idea WP was so restrictive.
Even if you do move to a different platform, I’d be there to read and support anyway. ❤️

  45. I’ve only just started blogging, so don’t have this problem. I hope WordPress sort you out PDQ. We don’t want to lose you!

  46. Hi Pooja,
if you continue to face issues try the following.
    1. Switch to a WordPress.org (self hosted) website
    2. The like button can be sorted out with the Jetpack plugin. No reblog option, so that is difficult I agree. So download and install Jetpack plugin.
    3. To move your followers to your new self hosted site (yes this can be done) –
    https://jetpack.com/support/subscription-migration-tool/
It will be a little work in the beginning but should all sort out soon if you plan to go ahead with your self hosted WordPress. Plus you do not need to pay for any premium services, and things can be installed and customized as per your preference.
I am using WordPress (self hosted option) for my blog with Jetpack. This is how I am able to comment here.

    1. Thank you so much I truly appreciate the help so much! I was wondering if you knew any really good hosting services? Thanks again!

        1. Thank you so much- you have been so helpful I truly appreciate it! If- or rather when lol- I need help I will definitely contact you. Thanks again- you’re absolutely amazing!

  47. Well that just stinks!!!!! Sorry this happened and still hoping you get it all resolved. I enjoy your writing and hope this encourages you to continue. Best wishes to you!

  48. I’m really sorry this is happening to you. I hope you that you don’t leave WP cause I really enjoy reading your blog. I hope this issue can get resolved somehow…

  49. This is so unfortunate. I’ve been following you since the day I came to wordpress. And I’m still new here. I will need your help in this blogging journey. I hope you get this resolved sooner. We need you ☹️

  50. Sorry to hear you had trouble. It seems almost all forums do this in an attempt to minimize ‘spammers’. I’ve had it happen to me on FB…though this is usually shorter term. Hope they find a method to help out. I generally like blog posts that I’ve read and like on WordPress. Staff of help desks generally have trouble as they have little power and are frontline workers. You could ask them to escalate to management…who are the ones that set up these policies. I’ve had huge issues trying to get a copyright infringement removed on Twitter…and I’m not a member….so far hasn’t been a fun experience. I get automated responses. Fingers crossed that we both have a better outcome this go around. Hope things work out for the best for you.

  51. I’m so sorry this happen to you. That’s so frustrating! I hope you don’t stop writing and you find a platform that’s works for you and all your hard work. Sending you a virtual hug 💖

  52. Awww I’m so sorry, Pooja. Hope to see ur face n ur posts some day but totally get it if ur done for good. Always appreciated ur likes on my main blog and love ur posts, too!

    1. Thank you so much and I will be leaving comments instead from now on since my likes are blocked since I still want to support you!

          1. Lol good pics r so clutch for exposure n likes on posts. Def spend a while trying to figure out what cover pic to use for each of my film and album reviews on lukeatkins.com hehe.

  53. I’m so sorry to hear this frustrating situation is happening to you. If you leave you will be missed but I will head over to Instagram to check out your content. Or what ever platform you chose to post to. I hope you the best semester and ease of mind during a stressful period in your life. Take care Pooja.

  54. Oh my god, I hope it gets fixed immediately! I am also quite having a problem with opening WordPress in the browser— I can’t like and comment other people’s blogs and then there will come a pop up notification that my session has expired. Now I’m using my phone and it’s working.
I really hope they fix it! 😩 You’re one of my favorite bloggers here and I’m always so happy to see you in my Reader. Let’s stay in touch! 😭

    1. Thank you! WP can be very annoying sometimes and it has a lot of bugs too. I hope your problem gets fixed soon too and yes let’s definitely stay in touch!

  55. Hey sorry to hear that to put it simply so stupid for blocking someone from wanting to interact with fellow bloggers. Like why do we have a community if not to use it and like/follow each other.

    1. Thank you and yes exactly don’t have that option if you don’t want people to use it- that’s such a weird thing to block someone for!

        1. Thank you- please feel free to reach out via email/DM. I will also keep everyone updated on the situation so you know what’s going on.

  56. I am so sorry you went through all of this. This is so strange because the best part about blogging is interacting with other bloggers. I hope they fix it and you come back. I like how organized you are. I hope you are doing something to keep yourself calm. Thank you for supporting my blog. I came to your blog just to read with some tea.

    1. Thank you! I know I don’t understand why I am being punished for interacting with other blogs. They said there was too much social activity on my account but isn’t being social the point of blogging.

      1. I was one of the few that went the other way; I had .org and switched to .com It seemed easier to become part of the wordpress community with .com
But you’ve already got a nice built in audience, so I think you will be fine!

        1. Yeah I can see how that may be a problem on .org but I think I’ll be okay since I already have a small community here. Thanks!

      1. Well if you decide to go that route, let me know and I will share my knowledge in that department. I started out as a blogger using wordpress.org, and eventually monetized it as I learned through trial and error how to best use the platform.
I also happen to be a web developer, so let me know what you decide, as I often do freelance work on the side.

  57. Hope you can get this sorted & back to blogging soon. I’ve had the same issue, but thought it was just a glitch on my computer. Thankfully seems to be sorted now. Though I only have a small platform, so not as much of an issue.

  58. Oh dear! I am so sorry to hear it Pooja. This won’t be the last we hear from Life’s Fine Whine, I’m sure. Maybe switch to another free platform like Blogger. and import all of your content! Will miss you. Please stay in touch. My email is kittyjadeblog@gmail.com. WordPress needs to sort itself out. Pooja leaving WordPress is such a loss to the community! Take care and good luck with uni this semester 💞💕💗💖💘💓

    1. Thank you and yes I am looking into moving my blog to a different platform or self-hosting. Thank you and I will definitely stay in touch!

    1. Thank you and I will definitely let you know what I decide! For now I’m thinking of moving to self-hosted which wouldn’t change much and I would get to keep my followers.

    1. Yeah I wanted to make sure everyone was careful because I would hate to have this happen to other bloggers as well. Unfortunately, I will be forced to move but if I self-host not much will change.

        1. No, from my research .org pretty much stays out of your business and lets you do whatever you want with your blog. They do not have the same terms and conditions as wordpress.com.

  59. Sorry to hear. It sounds like a pretty ignorant solution (or attempt at one) to the problem of spam on their part. Kind of like building a wall to keep immigrants out… you’re only going to make life harder for the people who follow the rules. Lol. I don’t care about likes so please do keep in touch through comments (if I ever manage to post again that is lol) and if not feel free to email me any time. I believe I have a contact page on my blog and I’ll respond with my real email address afterward. 🙂 Hope you don’t leave though and I hope they can make an exception for you and restore your privileges. It should be pretty obvious you’re not a scammer. You’re one of the only bloggers I genuinely read every post by. I CAN’T LOSE YOU POOJA! haha 😉

    1. Unfortunately, WP didn’t even acknowledge the problem was from their side and pretty much told me in a nice passive-aggressive way to leave but I will probably just self-host. You’re not getting rid of me that easily lol! I will definitely comment when you put up a post!

  60. I’m so sorry to hear that! It sounds so frustrating and I can completely understand where you’re coming from. Will you be switching to someplace else? 🥺

  61. Pooja 🥺🥺 So sorry to hear this, I hope you don’t go, I hope you stay. 🥺 Maybe it’ll be fixed soon. Maybe you can go self-hosted if you’re not yet self-hosted. This must be frustrating; hope you’re all right. 😔💕

  62. Yikes! That really must suck – I have been having a glitchy reader since forever not that I can even begin to compare.
Just know we’ll stick around here and support you even if you can’t do much…

  63. Sorry for wordpress what is putting u through, I don’t why they should do that, it’s annoying. When u have another blogging platform. Hope we will definitely be carried along

    1. Thank you and I will definitely inform you when I move! It’s definitely extremely frustrating considering the problem seems to be on their side.

  64. I’m so heartbroken to hear this. I haven’t been very active here but I’ve been trying to keep updated on your posts and seeing this breaks my heart. It’s so sad you’ve worked so hard to get here only to get this.
I’ve been having a few problems of my own on WordPress but not like yours. I don’t think the platform was ever like this. I wish they cared enough to do something about it. And you’re right, engaging with other bloggers is the best part about blogging and I feel it’s way easier to do so on wordpress because of their Reader’s feature. If you move to another platform, I hope it all works out❤

    1. Thank you so much! Yes, WP has a lot of glitches even in general. I think it also has a pretty crap help system which is so incredibly unhelpful and they take ages to even get back to you. I hope that I can still have the reader- apparently you can get it with a plugin so it’s not too bad.

  65. Why be done when even if there are problems you still get to share
I feel that even if we have the opportunity to share and help others to see things in a different way , then you have succeeded

    1. Yes, I have actually decided to move to self-hosted so nothing will change but I will be able to follow/like again and own my blog and content.

    1. Thank you and I think for now I’m just moving to self hosted to as a subscriber literally nothing will change on your end and you can still see my posts just like before.

  66. Thanks for speaking about this…
I hope they’d resolve our issues. This WP bug totally messes up with my OCD… not to mention the new editor… I have been reading a lot of complaints about posts not being shown on the reader section… unfortunately, this is the only platform where we can follow bloggers thru their posts via the ‘reader’ section, as opposed to creating blogrolls… 🙁 perhaps it’s the knowledge that they have monopolized the business that keeps them confident enough to ignore us? I mean, just saying…
One time, my theme totally crashed. I couldn’t find it… I talked to their people and they said. they’ve retired my theme. I said without notifying us? I thought we bought the theme for lifetime access? They told me that they do not have an idea as to when it’s gonna be active again or whether it’s gonna be…
I had to contact the author and he told me that they’d retired it indeed and I aired my side. After few days, it was returned to the themes selection.
I find no effort from their helpdesk.

    1. Wow I can’t believe they would retire a theme without even telling people who use it in advance. That is just awful. I’m glad it eventually came back though- I would be devastated if they randomly removed my theme.
Luckily the hosting site I’m looking into will give me access to the Reader section and I will still be able to use it like before which I’m happy about because that was my main concern.
They are incredibly unhelpful and if a problem does occur I feel like they find a way to blame it on you instead of admitting the platform obviously has glitches and other issues.

      1. They do blame it on the users. I doubt if they are even qualified tech engineers or were they just brokers?
I hope you get your thing sorted out soon! <3 <3 <3

        1. I highly doubt they are qualified tech engineers. If anything they are probably just regular customer care people with a guide of what to say.
          Thank you!

  67. Oh my, I’m very sorry about the current situation and I hope this gets sorted because what the… ?! WordPress is getting more and more annoying to be honest and one time, I think they put my comments in some bloggers spam folder. Like what?! I’m very sorry. So sorry. I think you should keep writing to them. Please, don’t give up.

  68. Interesting.
Some restrictive measures via wordpress, of course at the same time you have to note that most of their stuff is free to use.
Unless you may bump up their service fee, there isn’t any urgency to appeal to freeloaders.
    H8 it, report it.
    Its facts

  69. It always infuriates me when companies fail to deliver for a paid service. There should be outage based rebates at the very minimum for this kind of thing (looking @ you, ATT and Charter).

    1. Yeah it’s very disappointing when you pay so much for a platform- WP is pretty expensive for what they offer- and still get such crappy services.

  70. Omg I am so so so sorry this happened to you. I can’t even imagine how frustrated you must feel right now. I am definitely not a fan of the new block editor either. Just know I’ll support this blog till the ned!

    1. Thank you so much! Yeah I was pretty shocked at first but now I’m mostly pissed off lol. I don’t understand how a platform this big can make such a basic algorithm mistake.

  71. I completely feel your pain. I’ve had quite a few issues myself and it’s not only annoying, it’s aggravating! I’m wishing you all the best, sweetie!

  72. I was reading SEO for Dummies #3 and then came upon I’m done with WP from two years ago. I’ve read through many of the comments and it sounds like you were planning to self-host. Is that what you’re doing now? Was anything resolved with WP? I was looking at your services because the more I read, it’s clear I have a lot to do! I’m wondering about the Blog Post Editing services for $75. How many posts would that cover? I definitely need help on the old ones too and can learn how to better do it as I go. I’m not quite sure what to do first. I so enjoy your site…

    1. Thank you so much. I did try self-hosting but it did not work well with my blog so I went back to having a WP site. Now I use the Business Plan. The post editing service is for new posts and the price is per post. Basically I edit the post before you publish. I don’t have a specific service to edit older posts but I can do that for you if you’re interested. If you want we can discuss that and come up with a price that fits your budget. If you’re interested feel free to email me.

        1. Yeah I like the Business Plan, it has all the features I need. The only issue I have with it is that it’s quite pricey for a plan that doesn’t have too many features.

        1. Sure, the theme I’m using at the moment is called “Olsen” but I believe it has been discontinued by WordPress. Not. sure though so try searching it on the search bar in the themes section.
