Reacting To Your Favourite Songs

Last week I asked you to leave a comment letting me know what your favourite song or songs were so I could react to them on this post I got so many amazing suggestions in my comments. I want to thank everyone who took a minute to leave a comment with your suggestions. I am having so much fun reacting to them. Unfortunately, they were a lot so I’ll react to some today and some either tomorrow or next week. Either way, thank you!

Westlife – Home (Official Video)

This one was suggested by Claire from Third Culture Kid Can. I can see why she enjoys this song since she’s a TCK and to be honest it works well for me too as an immigrant who hasn’t seen my family in a long time. I very much enjoyed this song even though it’s not the kind of music I generally listen to. It had me feeling nostalgic and I had kind of forgotten about Westlife even though I remember listening to them when I was younger so it was a nice throwback.

Holst: The Planets, ‘Mars’ – BBC Proms

This song was recommended by Art Hernandez and again it was something I would probably not have stumbled upon by myself. I generally don’t listen to music like this but it was really fun. I’m probably not the most qualified to judge classical music but this reminded me of Star Wars for some reason and I think that made me enjoy it even more. Really loved this one.

DAYS N DAZE – NEW GANGLAND – THE REC. ROOM

This recommendation comes from Ian, my favourite dumbest blogger of course. I know this song probably has a very specific audience and it’s not exactly what I listen to but so far this is probably the closest to the kind of music I generally enjoy… I also like their look and I think this is something I can definitely vibe. This recommendation was clearly very on point!

Bruce Springsteen – Thunder Road

This song was recommended by Jim Borden and I have to be honest- I love Bruce Springsteen so this song wasn’t new to me. I have heard it a couple of times before and just like all the Bruce Springsteen songs I’ve heard so far, I really enjoyed it. One of my favourite parts of the song is the harmonica at the start. It’s so classic 70’s. I really like Springsteen’s voice and I’m definitely going to be listening to this song again in future as well. Absolutely love it!

TobyMac – Promised Land

This song was recommended by Shaunelius Sterns This is another song I generally would not stumble across but I really enjoyed it. The sound was amazing, the singer has a great voice and I think this song is perfect for when you’re having a tough day or going through something difficult. I really enjoyed this song a lot and would recommend it to anyone going through something difficult.

Ed Sheeran – Bad Habits [Official Video]

This song was recommended by Ekenzy. I already knew this song because of social media but I didn’t realise it was by Ed Sheeran till now. I’m not a big Ed Sheeran stan or anything but I do think he’s a really great musician and I have never heard a song of his that I don’t like. I thought the music video was also really cool with the whole vampire theme and I love that it had a cat in it. I feel like not enough music videos have cats in them. Really loved the song and the video! I’ll definitely be listening to this song often.

Billie Eilish – Bad Guy

This song was also recommended by Ekenzy.. This is probably going to get me some hate but I’m not a fan of Billie Eilish. I like a couple of her songs but I don’t like most of them. It’s nothing personal, it’s just not my type of music. That being said, this song is probably my favourite song by her. I heard it when it first came out and have been listening to it ever since. Really cool song, love the lyrics, love the video and love her style in it.

Miley Cyrus – Prisoner (Official Video) ft. Dua Lipa

This song was recommended by Ekenzy as well. Again, not a big fan of Miley or Dua Lipa but I do like some of their songs. This was my first time listening to this song and it was pretty good. I really liked the music video- it reminded me of 80’s rock videos and I think it went well with the way the song sounds. I don’t think this is a song I’ll listen to all the time but I did enjoy it and will probably listen to it again at some point.

Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen – Good Time (Official Video)

This song was recommended by Riddhi. THIS SONG BRINGS BACK SOOO MANY MEMORIES! I loved this song as a teen and had sort of forgotten about it. I’m so glad this was recommended because I had so much fun singing along to it and reminiscing. I love their outfits because that’s what I tried to dress like in the 2010’s. I love this song and have been playing it all the time.

Lauv – Never Not [Official Audio]

This song was recommended by Riddhi as well. This was my first time listening to the song but I instantly knew I would like it. The sound is exactly the kind of thing I enjoy. Loved the voice and the sound. I will definitely be listening to this song again in the future.

Harry Styles – Golden (Official Video)

This song was recommended by Riddhi, too. This is another song I know because of social media. I love Harry Styles, he’s so talented and of course a very good looking person. This song is great, it’s the kind of thing you listen to when you’re in a good mood, having some coffee/tea and just relaxing. I liked the video concept too- it was simple and fun to watch. I will definitely be listening to it again.

That’s all for today but I will be posting more reviews soon so come back tomorrow and next week. I think I got so many recommendations a lot of my next posts are just going to be song reviews. Thanks again to everyone who participated! Let me know in the comments belows what songs from the above you enjoyed!

      1. I take back what I said about her music. There is 1 Billie Eillish song that I like: When the party’s over. I often hear that song on the radio when I’m driving to and from work and it’s pitch black and below freezing outside.

  1. such a wide variety of songs, many of which I am not familiar with; I’ll try and give them a listen this weekend. but that Borden guy really knows his music 🙂

  2. I think I am late to the party here. Music is something that is personal. I have chosen music and songs that had lyrics that were non-violent or racist. I think lyrics are important because music can stick with us for decades. Many wonderful songs of the 70’s when I discovered music – Groups like the Guess Who, Elton John (Rocket Man), Pink Floyd, Three Dog Night (Joy to the World), Bill Withers (Lean on Me). So many artists and so much love for that era but some like Diana Krall have stolen my heart as well (S’ Wonderful) or Frank Sinatra (I’ve Got You Under My Skin).
Since I have to pick a favourite I will choose “I’ll Follow The Sun” – The Beatles.
Great topic – all the best to you

    1. I’ll listen to both although I have to admit I’ve heard both of them before. I think last year was the last time I heard them so it’ll be nice to listen to both of them again and see how I feel about them now.

    1. Lol that’s fair. Quite a few people seem not like they are not very musical because I have some friends who don’t listen to music or enjoy it very much.
