Your smile so elegant
And yet so sad
In your eyes
I see the real pain you hide
The girl destined for nothing but the best
Broken by only the worst
First your innocence
And then your love
Taken from you forever
So you settled
For what the world gave you
You settled for nothingness
About “Marina”:
The poem was inspired by the first season of Bridgerton. Can you guess which character it’s about? Hint: The title may help point you in the right direction 😜
Anyway, after all the hype around Bridgerton I decided to get in on it and watch the first season. Those of you that have been following me for a while on this blog will know that I am a big fan of historical or period dramas. Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen is literally my favourite book of all time. So I had an inkling that I would most likely enjoy Bridgerton ans well. And you know what, I really did. All the very PG stuff took me by surprise though, lol. But I’m not complaining at all…
Anyway, the subplot that had to do with Marina was one that really stuck with me and inspired this poem.
Have you been watching Bridgerton? If so, are you a fan of the show? Did you like Marina’s character? Did you feel sorry for her like I did? Let me know in the comments below. Or simply stop by and say hi!
I recently published my first book and would be honoured if you took a minute to check it out here.
