On The Glow Face Mist Review

I mentioned in a post a few weeks back that I want to share more reviews of Kenyan brands and products. I have been trying out some local brands and have done a bit of shopping so I wanted to share more makeup and fashion posts. Today I decided to review Canvas Cosmetics’ On The Glow mist.

About Canvas Cosmetics

Canvas Cosmetics is Vegan, Cruelty-Free & Paraben Free. The brands site tells us that it was created for those “on the go” and can be used day to night.

I got the On The Glow Face Mist in “Pink Orchid.”

“Inspired by the Orchid, a symbol of perfection, this Face Mist is gentle on your skin yet holds your make-up in place and leaves you feeling refreshed (even if used in skincare routine). Our mist contains:
Aloe – Cools and refreshes
Caffeine – Promotes microcirculation, reduces tiredness & brightens”

The Pros:

I thought I would start with the pros of this product:

– The packing is literally so pretty- my pictures don’t do it enough justice!
– It’s vegan and cruelty free. Plus it’s made with pretty natural ingredients.
– The brand is a smaller brand and I always prefer supporting those over huge brands.
– I thought the quality is fantastic. As you can tell from the picture it did absolutely make me glow. When used strategically it can definitely give you a healthy glow. It’s also perfect if you’re trying to create a glass skin look.
– It’s easily available (to me).
– The mist smelt really great.
– It was extremely hydrating and didn’t cause any issues on my skin even though my skin is very sensitive.

The Cons:

And here are some cons:

– It’s very pricey for. Most Kenyans would not be able to afford this product and it’s definitely more of a luxury product that you would buy occasionally. That was pretty much the only con for me. I will add though, if you can afford it I would recommend buying it. The bottle is really big so the amount will last you at least a few months since you only need a little to give you a nice glow. It costs $2300 online at the moment (about $20) but I got it for less since I bought it at a store. That may not seem like a lot but in Kenya it’s a lot to spend on makeup.

My Overall Thoughts:

Overall, I really liked the On The Glow Face Mist. In fact, I have officially added it to my makeup routine. Makeup isn’t something I wear daily but when I do put on some makeup I usually start and finish with this mist. I even wear it on its own with only a bit of blush and concealer for that natural radiant look. Personally, I think it’s worth the money I spent on it. Would I buy it very often? No. Would I buy it once in a while? Yes.

Oh and apologies for how I look in the pictures. I was only partly done with my makeup but realised the sun was going down and I had to take the picture. The sun is the best lighting and I didn’t want to miss it because it wouldn’t look the same with a ring light.

  1. Thanks for the helpful review! I used to use a mist and then stopped. Your post reminded me that I need to go back to it…my skin has been feeling dry after sunscreen and BB cream.
    Love your pictures too.

    1. My pleasure! Yes, sunscreen can sometimes dry your skin but mists help a lot with that. You should definitely try adding some before applying the other products.

      1. I should. I use fractioned coconut oil and that helps a lot to add moisture. I use oil and tree tea oil and rosehip oil.
I wish there was a homemade mist because I feel bad wasting all that plastic cause I go through it so quickly.

        1. Yeah I’ve heard about coconut oil being really good for moisturising. I know what you mean, it’s easy to finish a mist and such a waste of the bottle. I think the Fenty Beauty one allow refills though.

          1. There’s a lot of writing about coconut oil and fractioned coconut oil. I should’ve paid more attention to the info but what I remember is that fractioned is better for the skin…doesn’t have a scent and is less oily.

  2. You are very beautiful Pooja and I can understand not wanting to spend much on makeup. You probably don’t even need makeup to look beautiful. About the sensitivity, my skin has gotten more sensitive to makeup. You didn’t notice any irritation from it? I love the glow it gives you.

    1. Thank you so much and yes I try not to spend too much on makeup since I feel there are better ways to spend the money. I also prefer using very few products so I don’t really need very many. I like a more natural look.
Yes, there was no irritation. I have extremely sensitive skin too and almost everything irritates my face but this one didn’t which was great.

  3. Yes, you look great.
That’s pretty much SOP (standard operating procedure); = the better the product and/or service the more it costs. Quality costs time and time is expensive. Unless you believe time is, well …
And that is a problem – what people believe differs. You look great and your posts are helpful.

    1. Thanks. Yes, I totally agree. A lot of times certain things cost more because they are better quality. That’s how I feel about this brand. It costs more because the quality is great and I also though the quantity was very good for the price.

    1. Thank you! No unfortunately, they only ship to UK, UAE and Kenya right now. But they are expanding and if I hear they’re shipping to US I’ll let you know.
