All You Care About Is You

You smile with your lips

But it doesn’t reach your eyes

Glazed over

Barely even there

It’s like your soul

Has left your body

And now all that is left

Is a the flesh

You try so hard to be human

But there is no good inside you

Everything you do

Brings about destruction

Your narcissistic brain

Promises you that you are the victim

That you are trying so hard to be good

You have become such a great gaslighter

That you have managed to gaslight yourself

Into believing that you care

About anyone other than

You

As those of you that read my last post know, I recently finished watching the final episode of the fourth season of You. You is one of my absolute favourite shows although I don’t know how to feel about this season. Especially the last half of it. I think I’m still processing some of it. And that’s where this poem “All You Care About Is You” spawned from.

So as you have guessed if you’ve ever seen You, this poem is about Joe Goldberg or at least him at the end of season 4. I think writing is the best way to process this show, lol. I still don’t know if I love or hate it.

Did you enjoy “All You Care About Is You?” Do you watch You and if so what did you think of the latter half of season 4? Let me know in the comments below because I would really love to hear your thoughts! Or just simply stop by and say hi!

  1. the poem is ominous, it creates dramatism of doom and gloom.
victimization is a good translation, it leads to condemnation.
gaslighting is also a bit frightening.
    overall I love the call.

  2. Oooh, that’s a very dark poem! I like how the last line is the name of the show. I haven’t watched ‘You’ but I’m a bit intrigued now…

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja, and yeah, okay, thanks… I’ll be sure not to watch it alone! 😱
BTW, I have noticed my “likes” of your posts don’t show up when I read your posts on my desktop, so I went back and re-did them! Not sure why that would be… 🧐

  3. I haven’t watched “You” although I know it is a popular show. Normal people are at risk of falling into the pitfall of a narcissist’s love bomb, after which the narcissist would go back to himself or herself. And the normal people would feel lonely and dejected.

    1. The main character of You is a total narcissist and the show is actually from his POV which I love because it shows you how narcissists justify their behaviour to themselves and others. And how easy it is to be fooled by them. He constantly love bombs his partners after doing horrible things.

  4. Ok wow
    The poem is 🔥
You are so good with such stuff.

I like how you beautifully penned down the show 😊
I haven’t seen the show, but the title gives some idea.
    Kudos PG 🤜🏻

  5. I like this one. It may not be personal but it feels like it. I can really feel it and I enjoy it, sincerely.

You always have the best poetry. A bunch of dark poetry in this theme complied in a book or on a movie or play would be sooo fascinating.👀😉👀

    1. Thank you so much. I tend to really connect with fictional characters so that may be why it sounds person. I feel like it kind of is personal lol.

Working on a book already! 😊

      1. I completely understand what you mean. I have very intense personality and I write tensely and my characters are fleshed out enough for me to write about them and learn more so it’s easier to write them and connect.☺️

        And ooo I can’t wait.

  6. Most of us actually care about ourselves before we can even think about other people.

I haven’t watched the series but I have seen it being talked about by many people on social media though.

  7. This poem screams Joe Goldberg!! The part 2 of You completely blew my mind. Joe has made himself to believe that all his psychopathic killings are actually based off good interests and that’s just crazy. I think this is the best season so far. I almost lost my mind after watching the final episode. Although, i think we should have seen it coming because what is a season of You without the ‘Joe class cage?’

    1. Thank you! Yes, I absolutely know what you mean. I really enjoyed this season and the second half blew my mind. True, where there’s a Joe there’s a cage lol.

  8. I came upon You yesterday when I was looking for something new to watch. I watched the first episode and was hooked. At one point I wondered if this was the show you mentioned you liked but didn’t make the association when I picked it. Subliminally I guess I did. Now I look forward to watching it and can see how your poem above will play out.

    1. I’m rewatching You and just watched the first episode. I have forgotten a bit of the older seasons which is why I decided to rewatch it. Let me know how you like it as you watch more episodes. I’m always curious to hear other peoples thoughts on shows I like.

  9. Beautiful poem pooja. I finished watching S4 of You and totally relate with the poem; lines ‘You try so hard to be human But there is no good inside you’ perfectly describes joe goldberg. I felt really bad for his last victims 😔.

  10. I watched the first few episodes thinking right up my alley. Then I stopped because it turned creepy. Which doesn’t interest me. But your poem captures it. Good job. Cool idea.

  11. You really captured the characteristics of a narcissist in this poem. I’ve never seen the show but I know someone who was at one time in a relationship with a narcissist. She definitely learned what to look for now when dating. Good poem though.

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, the main character is quite a narcissist which is what inspired this. I’m sorry she went through that but glad she’s careful now.

      1. Yes me too. What I can’t understand though about her is that she still feels the need to have a man in her life. She’s on a dating site where I know a lot of creeps hang out. I worry about her finding the wrong guy sometime and losing her life.

        1. Yeah, dating sites have so many creepy people on them. They can be quite dangerous and it’s easier to hide your true personality online so some awful people take advantage of that.

  12. A poem that makes us think, as reading your poem many people came into my mind that fit which kind of makes me feel sad that they are members of my own family.

Did you ever wonder why many people today only care about themselves, what has happened to families?
