About The Six Word Story:

I had a weird night yesterday. I swear this story will tie into todays six word story. Anyway, I went to sleep okay and then I woke up in the middle of the night, threw up and went back to sleep. I think I know what happened though. As you guys know, I generally eat oil free but I had a cheat day and ate some oily foods which I think my body sort of rejected lol. I had some pakoda for the South Asian people that read my blog, you guys know how irresistible those are.

So what does that have to do with todays SWS? Well, because of the interruptions in my sleep last night, i.e me vomiting my guts out, I decided to take a nap today. But I didn’t wake up refreshed, I woke up groggy and noticed I had no post for today. And so this six word story was born. I always tend to write darker stuff when I’m sleepy or haven’t slept well and that’s why this story ended up kind of depressing. But I ended up sort of liking it after all.

  3. That’s a good reflection, that you write darker things when you’re tired. I noticed this about myself, too. I’m downright cranky if I haven’t slept enough. 😅 I think that’s part of the reason alcoholics are always throwing temper tantrums; well, part of the reason. They’re always tired but they also destroyed their brain chemistry. One-two punch.

    Anyway I hope you sleep well tonight and your body doesn’t explosively reject anything. 😊

    1. Hmm that makes sense, it probably sucks more for alcoholics since they’re both sleep deprived and sobering up.

  6. I usually adore naps and mostly wake up well. However, sometimes, especially after eating rich or oily foods, I still feel groggy and kind of yucky. I hate that! This morning, I couldn’t wake up! I finally got off my couch around 10:30 and only because Child #3 made me! I took a short nap, but did not wake feeling refreshed. Here it is, 8:34 and I am so very tired. What is wrong with me?!!!

    1. We all have days like that when we just feel exhausted all day. Even naps don’t help. Hopefully you’ll feel better tomorrow ☺

  8. The past has perished and the present is pitiable. OMG, what’s left then…only the uncertain future.
    Pakodas have taken too heavy a toll! Might be you ate pakodas quite late at night. Usually, this happens when we consume such hard-digesting food before sleep.
    This SWS says it all. Lack of sleep makes the things worse and only then you can come up with such type of stories.
    Alliteration in the story is admirable, and sounds good to ears unlike the theme of the story.

    1. I didn’t eat them too late since I don’t eat past 9pm but I think I just ate oily food all of a sudden and my body wasn’t prepared for it lol.
      Thank you and yeah lack of sleep certainly does that.

      1. So this cheat day didn’t allow you to cheat the usual diet pattern. You had to bear the brunt.

        1. Yup, the cheat day had too heavy a price this time.

  12. I’m in shark week so I feel exhausted and angry and just a week before I had extreme pain in my gut.🫥 I literally understand this post and currently am tired and in PAIN.😭

  19. Sorry to hear you were sick. I understand the lure of greasy food, lol. I am a shift worker. I find my transition from nights to days disrupts my sleep and my creativity. I have a natural tendency towards being a night owl. Hope you are feeling better and rested now.

  21. Oh dear, waking up in the middle of the night especially to throw up isn’t pretty.. I hope you get better soon. And a nap by definition should be as short as possible, the longer the groggier.

    1. Thanks, I’m okay now. Yeah, I usually try to sleep for only half an hour but I think I oversleep sometimes.

  33. 2 nights ago I slept terribly. I was up for like 2 hours in the middle of the night, anxiety, you know. I hope you are feeling better today. I know since I am eating less sugar when I overload on sugar I usually get a headache the next day. Take it is easy!

    1. Yes, anxiety keeps me up sometimes too. It really sucks because lack of sleep makes me more anxious and it can turn into a cycle. Thanks!

      Yeah, oil makes me sick too which is why I try to avoid it. Not as bad as your situation since I can still eat a little but if I eat too much I get very sick.

  35. I’m sorry that made you feel so ill. I just went through something similar. I’m doing the anti-inflammation diet, and I broke it to have some hot chocolate. That gave me my first ever migraine and I felt awful for a couple of days

    1. Oh wow, that’s awful. I had migraines a lot as a teen and they can really suck. Hope you’re okay now.

      1. I’m definitely better, thanks. But that was just weird that hot chocolate did that to me!

        1. Yeah, it’s surprising to have such a strong reaction to hot chocolate but now you know what to avoid.

            1. Of course, hot chocolate is such a comfort drink. It must suck not to be able to drink it.

  36. Same thing happened with me last night, Pooja.
    I slept close to 10 pm. Then my sleep got disturb upto 2 am. I couldn’t sleep after that. It was horrible!
    Though, I didn’t vomit, but I’m not making proper food choices, currently.
    I should work on this.

    1. That’s awful, I hate it when you can’t go back to sleep. I guess it’s something we both need to work on more.

  37. It’s good that you know what you did to cause the problem and you can sleep better tonight. I had nightmares as a kid if I ate late.

    1. Yeah, I think eating late can often effect your sleep and overall health.

  43. Our bodies do that sometimes. When we stay away from something for a while then revisit it, it rejects it. Good poem!

  45. Sorry to hear that. I have experienced similar things before. If I eat oily food, my stomach won’t be able to take it. So I am very careful to eat as oil free as possible, although I can never be entirely oil free. LOL. I recently find that adding a bit of sweetener can help cut down on oil and salt. I mean just a little bit. Not too much. Or sometimes I use Sushi Vinegar while cooking since it adds vinegar, salt, and sugar and some other flavors, which help cut down on oil… Wish you have a speedy recovery.

    1. That’s a good idea, I think sushi vinegar has a lot of flavour so you won’t need much oil after that. Thanks, I’m pretty much okay now.

  46. There is something strange about napping in the afternoon. I always wake up as a different person, can’t explain the feeling adequately. That’s why I avoid sleeping in the afternoon, especially after lunch!

    1. I know, it’s so odd. I always try to nap in the mornings too but I never have the time 😞

    I enjoy naps, my only issue is that I sometimes find it had to fall asleep at night after having one.
