Tina Turner Quote

Quote Of The Day

Tina Turner Quote

RIP Tina Tuner

RIP to the queen of rock n’ roll. She was not only a brilliant singer but an amazing human being too. And I love this Tina Turner quote and wanted to share it today.

I first got introduced to Tina Turner not because of her music but because as a teenager I read her biography. It is such a touching story of her life. And the parts about how Ike became more abusive and controlling over time broke my heart. I specifically remember a chapter where she talks about how he forced her to perform too soon after she gave birth and had other health issues. That was honestly so heartbreaking to read and I genuinely had tears in my eyes. I am so happy she was able to leave and become the awesome musician she was.

It’s also extremely inspiring how life constantly kicked her down but she refused to quit. She kept fighting even when she hit rock bottom. And she came out stronger than before. She truly was an absolute queen and will always be remembered as an icon.

Although this is her most famous song I believe, I would highly recommend listening to her other songs too.

  1. I’m not that knowledgeable on Tina Turner, but since I’m Black and around certain people (a lot of powerful women) I knew about her and have heard random songs by her when I’m around my group.

I knew about Beyoncé and other artists that are women before I learned about her…like Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin (and a lot of GOSPEL SINGERS) for an example. My family members are very interesting people.

    How was your day?☺️

    1. Yeah, she was more popular with the older generations but of course she’ll always be relevant and iconic. I love Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin. Both awesome too.

My day was interesting to say the least! I had a lot going on. How about you?

      1. My day was the opposite. All I did was post, sleep, then wake up. I’m not feeling depressed or anything which is great, just bleh though. 🤷🏾 In the mood to ramble on the internet though.☺️

          1. Thank you. I prefer your content because you write in a way that makes sense and it goes from point to point and doesn’t seem like a dump.

            1. It took me ages to write like that lol. I used to be very unorganised before. When I go through old posts to make SEO changes I’m like wow this was horrible I can’t believe I posted this.

  2. Tina Turner was an amazing, bigger than life performer. One could only admire how she overcame her personal obstacles and flourished. One could not avoid falling in love and awe for her stage presence.

  3. Great quote. I don’t know a huge amount about Tina’s history and appreciate what you wrote here. By coincidence, I posted about a Tina Turner song today, my favourite: “The Best.” I think it is a great symbol of the strength, passion and determination she demonstrated in her life, after rising out of a terribly abusive marriage. The world has truly lost an amazing artist and human.

    1. Thanks so much. I really like that song too. It’s one of my favourites by her. She was honestly so strong and went through so much in her life but always came out on top. I would really recommend reading her biography or watching “What’s Love Got To Do With It” (the movie)

  4. I remember watching the music video for “Whats Love Got To Do With It” in the 1980s when the song was released. That was my introduction to her.

  5. Tina was a great woman and she was a believer. My parents introduced me to her songs and the fact that she had the balls, it has always been a compliment. She is simply the best!

  6. This has always been one of my favorite quotes. But, I didn’t know anything about Tina Turner before reading this post, Pooja. You have really given a very moving account of her life.

    1. Thank you and yes this quote is by her. She was truly amazing and I would so recommend reading more about her. There’s a lot more to the story that I haven’t shared.

  7. I really like this quote. She will be greatly missed by her fans, family, and friends. All of her music speaks volumes. I am so glad we can still listen to her voice through her music. This quote is awesome! Thanks for sharing.

    1. She will most definitely be missed. She was not only an amazing musician but human being too. Yes, at least we can always remember her through her music.

  8. I thought she was forever! Great quote. We have to push ourselves to our limits and not be afraid to try and fail.

  9. I don’t have any of her records, but I can’t deny her great talent (and beauty).
I remember her back in the 1970s when I was a little girl. She sang “Shame Shame Shame” with Cher on The Cher Show. (It’s on You Tube if you want to check it out). She’s an amazing dancer, in fact, legend has it that she taught Mick Jagger to dance!

    1. Yes, I’ve seen that on YouTube because I love Cher as well and watch clips of her show sometimes. Wow, didn’t know about the Mick Jagger thing but it would be so cool if it’s true.

  10. In the early 70’s I tended bar at a club in Denver, Colorado. Ike & Tina played there for a week. At the end we partied at their hotel. Tina stayed in the bedroom behind the closed door. I had no idea what was really going on. Loved the show. Love her music. RIP.

  11. What a beautiful quote. I don’t know much about her and your description of your biography really piques my interest. I mean having a child always brings some health issues. Even the most unproblematic pregnancy and delivery will come with some issues. One really needs a very good time off afterwards.

    1. It was worse for her because she got very ill after halving the baby. I believe she got tuberculosis and that’s why the doctor told her to stop performing and rest instead. But Ike made her work anyway.
I really hope you read her biography. It’s called I, Tina. And it’s such a touching tale of her making it even though everything was stacked against her. I also think you’ll enjoy it because Ike is a textbook narcissist.

  12. My mom is a big fan of Tina Turner, and I enjoy her songs, too. It’s such a beautiful quote… I find it hard to believe in my own dreams nowadays since I often get confused about what I want to do versus what I should do. Hearing a lovely reminder has def boosted my motivation today 😊

    1. I think we all have those moments when we start doubting our dreams so you’re not alone in feeling that way. I’m glad this motivated you to stick to your dreams and not give up on them 😊

  13. I love the quote, which is a great reminder for all of us, and I loved her. She was iconic, and like you said, nothing kept her down. (Sorry if this is a duplicate; I’m not sure if my first comment went through.) Wonderful tribute! ❤️

  14. Yes, RIP Tina. I was introduced to her music in the 80″s when I was in high school. Yes, I just gave my approximate age lol. I think my favorite song of hers is “We Don’t Need Another Hero”. And yes that was also in the Mad Max movie which I enjoyed back then. She definitely was a great performer and everything that she went through made her stronger. She is loved and will be missed.

  15. She was so talented! We’re all blessed that she shared her talent with the world. Her personal story is incredible, too, and again we were all blessed that she shared it. There’s probably no way to know how many women she inspired to leave abusive relationships. Tina Turner will definitely be missed.

  16. That is a great quote.
I didn’t know Tina Turner before you post.. Tho, I’m curious to get to know more about her. Thanks for sharing 😊

  17. I didn’t know her before reading your post, but now I feel like she must have been a great and strong lady!!!
May her soul rest in peace.
