I’m having kind of a bad day. Well, a really bad day. After emailing WordPress multiple times to ask about any updates on the email issue, I finally got a response from them basically dismissing the issue completely. They claim that since a very small amount of people still receive email notifications from me, there is no issue.

Their own stats show that it went from thousands of people opening my email to literally like 10-100. How do they explain that? Not to mention the large number of comments, emails, DMs and messages I have received specifically asking me why they are no longer receiving email notifications from me. Recently, I also followed my site with another email of mine and haven’t received any emails about new posts.

I don’t understand why they are so reluctant to fix this issue. When someone is paying for your plan they should not be begging for you to do the bare minimal amount of work you’re supposed to do. And then, I get a new Happiness Engineer every time so I have to explain everything all over again.

And the part that pisses me off is that I have to be the one to show them proof that my site is malfunctioning. Apparently, they can publish test posts on my behalf but they can’t check who is receiving emails? Yeah, I’m pretty sure they just don’t want to help me at this point. Or they don’t know how to and don’t want to admit it. And honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore. This is a huge issue for me as I am getting less views because of this and clients keep emailing me asking me what’s up.

I may just have to deal with this privately in the end I guess. A fellow blogger did offer to help which I seriously appreciate but I just don’t want to bother anyone if I don’t have to. And I shouldn’t have to when I’m paying for a plan and fixing this issue is so basic. If the Happiness Engineers can’t fix it at least forward the issue to someone who can.

Sorry about the rant guys I’m just SO fucking frustrated right now. Still optimistic Pooja, but also pissed off. Anyway, I’m going to go cry now because I just seriously feel like shit because of this situation. I’ve already literally cried this morning. Maybe I need to start a petition or something.


I took a nap and ate some ramen and feel much more at peace. I think I just needed a nap lol.

There actually is a way for you guys to help me. If you are no longer receiving any email notifications when I publish my posts please contact WordPress. They keep gaslighting me and trying to say the issue isn’t real so hopefully this will help prove it is. And it’ll show them that multiple people are affected. So, if you have some time and would like to help (no pressure) please email them or chat with them. You can even copy and paste this if It helps:

The owner of the site has already made a complaint about this as it this has happened to a majority of her followers both via WordPress and email.     1. Renard, your suggestion is very good. Companies will act fast if they think they’re about to lose a customer. My mom threatened to leave Rogers and they offered her 2 years of free Premium streaming 😂

      1. I threatened to switch my Wifi from Bell to Cogeco and they gave me a big discount to stay with them lol 😅

  3. Hey Pooja , I hope it all gets resolved for you. It’s the worst when people won’t help. I have rants about this with my friends and family a lot . People need to do their jobs.

  4. Hey Pooja, you answered my question in this post. This was not the answer I was hoping for either. I’m so sorry that you’re dealing with this crap from the Happiness Engineers. More like Unhappiness Engineers!

    I think it’s ridiculous that they won’t help you and you’re on the Business Plan. They should offer more help to those who are in the upper tiers. Terrible business on their end. If this doesn’t get fixed, is it possible to switch to self-hosting and install Jetpack? (It’s not free but would probably be a cheaper option overall).

          I had any issue after upgrading and I never received an educated response from their side.

          And as PG mentioned, it’s someone different responding to me every time.

I am considering self-hosting if this doesn’t get resolved. I don’t mind the cost, even if it’s a little more it’s worth it if things get less glitchy.

    I hope it get fixed soon.

    I will mail to these “sadness engineer”. I think people with paid plan to force on the word “paid” and let them know that this response of them is unacceptable.

    You know what’s annoying is, that after 2-3 days they keep on responding back.
    And keep showing me previous conversation. Even if I reply to them, they say that there’s no problem from their side and I need to change the browser and all.

    About your problem, I think I will try asking some real experts about this. They will probably guide. But please don’t be sad and crying is a no no 💙

      That can actually do it’s thing?

        1. There are some plugins that check emails and their functionality.

          There are plugins like
          Elastic email sender( which updated recently)
          Mail poet ( updated recently)
          And few others….

          These may help, these are for free

  8. I turned on email notifications to see if I get any. (I did not know how to do it, so I learned something new today, lol)
    If I don’t receive a notification I will do as you suggested above. Good luck.

  9. I totally understand your rant. (Not to make this about me but last year I upgraded my plan and my web address was no longer visible to readers. Wrote multiple mails, even took a fellow blogger’s help, but they couldn’t fix my issue. This is the reason I lost interest in WordPress, now I’m on a free plan and satisfied). Try writing to them publicly on Twitter or DM on Instagram. I don’t know if this is going to help or not but this is what I didn’t do so just an advice to bring their attention to the issue.

  14. Hi Pooja, i noticed that you’ve been absent! Based on what I have read you are getting a raw deal from WP which sickens me. All manner of ideas come to head including censorship yet you don’t publish anything highly contested in my opinion. I hope this issue is resolved soon, catch me on IG.

    1. Hi! I feel like it’s not censorship just because I’m not publishing anything controversial. I just feel like it’s a lack of care from their end. And I think some of the Happiness Engineers are not knowledgable and so try to dodge the issue.

  15. It feels very bad when you pay for something and the company does not provide good customer service and support. It feels cheated.

    1. I agree and to be honest I have never experienced such bad service from a company in my life. Not even the ones I don’t pay for.

      1. Still thinking about what to do about getting sun spots checked. The dermatologist had his practice manager (whom my mother had employed) put me in for a priority bulk billed appointment. I told them that they only did that because of who my mother was and unless his reception can ring me and sincerely apologise, I would rather die than receive nepotism or some form of further molestation that I am supposed to feel privileged for 😂😂😂 I love being honest and too tough… and articulate (whilst appearing not so, and sans any addictions, meditating twice daily) 😂

  29. I’m having the same problem. And, yes, I no longer get emailed notification from you. Only when I go to the reader can I see your posts.
    I think it’s a filter thing, a bandwidth problem.
    Of course a money thing, too.
    Almost every one I follow the notification system, as well as the comment access is different. And that seems to depend on various factors. Likely unknown to anyone. In other words, it’s a cluster fuck, or SNAFU.
    I, too, am frustrated.

  31. How frustrating, Pooja. I thought with the Business plan the so called Happiness Engineers would be more helpful. I went self-hosted a couple of years ago (Blue Host), and had a multitude of problems and no one could fix it. I would get emails from Jetpack notifying me my site was down and it would be down for hours. I got frustrated and went back to WP.com.

        1. Yes, I know exactly what you mean. At least there’s someone to turn to when stuff goes wrong even if that person isn’t very helpful. With self-hosting it’s mostly just you. I feel like self-hosting is better for people who know what they’re doing but I’m not tech savvy so that scares me.

  36. I intentionally do not subscribe to email updates – I prefer to just receive the push notifications on my phone, and then I keep up with your posts and others via the Jetpack app.
    I guess what I’m trying to say is that those who desire to keep up with your posts will still figure out a way to do so! For instance, I have someone who likes not only every post I write, but also every comment I make on other people’s sites. (watch…you’ll see 😏)

  46. There has to be a way through this that’s much easier and quicker. They can’t dismiss this issue based on the number of subscribers. That’s the laziest and useless answer I have heard from any engineer. What’s the point of getting a paid plan when you receive such lofty response. This is one thing that’s stopping me from upgrading my plan.

    1. I know, I was so mad. And what annoys me is that when they want they can publish test posts on my site without my consent but they expect me to give them a list of people who are no longer receiving the emails? If they can publish posts I am pretty sure they can access other information themselves too. How ridiculous to expect me to do their job for them, what’s the point of a paid plan then.
      If you’re thinking of upgrading I would definitely recommend waiting till the platform improves as I feel the paid plans are no longer worth it.

  48. Really feel sorry to hear that you are having such a frustrating experience with WordPress and their unprofessional handling of your email issue. It is deeply disheartening when you don’t get the support you expect, especially when you’re having a paid plan.
    And, it’s incredibly bothersome when you have to repeatedly explain the same issue to different people. I hope WordPress realizes the severity of the issue and takes appropriate steps to rectify it. Please remember you’re not alone in this, as we stand with you and will raise the issue with WP.

        1. They finally got back to me and the issue they claimed caused this is so bizarre. I’m pretty sure it’s a major glitch because they only other explanation is that someone hacked my account. I’m glad you are finally receiving emails from my site but unfortunately a majority of followers are still not receiving them. However, since they found the cause I hope they can at least fix it.

I thought of contacting them too, because I noticed my views and likes had gone down considerably in the last couple of weeks (and my blog is small – only about 120 followers), but when I read your post and another one, I realised maybe there is some sort of problem on a greater scale. And maybe that’s why they can’t do much about individual cases for the time being…. ?! 🙁

    1. You know, that could be the case. So many bloggers have complained about glitches or low views. I think their upgrades to the platform have caused more problems than they would like to admit. Hopefully, they fix it soon ☹️

  54. Yeah, best of luck with those “happiness” engineers. I have never had a good experience with WP when it comes to problems. i only blog though, so I don’t have skin in the game beyond hobby skin. You have my sympathies. And maybe look for another web host?

  55. So, I was looking around and either WP did one of their infamous updates or I changed something without realizing it.

    near the bottom of that was a box labeled “block emails”. That was checked for me. Once I disabled it, the option to receive emails showed up. Now, whether they actually will or not is another matter. Don’t know if that will help you at all, but it is something to explore.

  56. WP has a resident ghost or many resident ghosts. Once in a while, they would wake up to mess around, wreaking havoc in their whimsical ways. I have experienced many inexplicable dysfunctions. Once I contacted WP and got my questions answered and problems solved, but then I realized that the fixing of one problem caused another problem coming out.

    1. I think you’re right lol. Every couple of weeks it wakes up to wreak havoc. Yes, often fixing one problem causes two more. That’s what has happened to me before as well.

  57. I am so sorry they still haven’t fixed this issue. What is wrong with them? You pay for your subscription, but they are basically saying that you are making this up! That’s not right for them to do you like this! They need to have someone to fix it that knows how to fix issues such as this. This is just absolutely ridiculous. You should not be going through this. I understand your frustration, it would piss anyone off to ho through something like this and they’re not doing anything to resolve this issue. I am going to keep praying this issue gets resolved.
