My Final Update On WordPress

My Final Update On WordPress

So hopefully this is my final update on WordPress and this situation has been resolved. Well, as resolved as can be. Know that I feel like I can finally breathe, let me tell you the whole story about my day. Well half of it I guess.

The Uno Reverse Card

With the responses I was getting with my situation, I quickly realised that this was going nowhere. And I got the feeling that the issue was never going to really be resolved. Or at least it wasn’t going to be resolved as quickly as I prefer.

So, I did sone research and decided that the best thing to do was just abandon that account. Which is what I did today. I moved everything from that account to a new wordpress.com account I created.

I’ve Got 99 Problems

Of course, the move didn’t go smoothly. Why would it? Has anything related to WordPress gone smoothly in years? But for some reason the Universe was kind enough to give me a really helpful Happiness Engineer. We were on the chat for hours (literally) trying to figure everything out but he stayed with me and helped. Shoutout to Jeff- don’t know if that’s his real name but whomever it was really helped. I know, I was shocked too. Usually, I get nothing from them. I was so anxious that I would lose everything, I was sitting like this in front of my computer:

Dennis Reynolds GIFs final update

Now, pretty much everything is fixed. The only issue I am having is that since it’s a new blog I have to refollow everyone I was following on my old account. And since WP has a limit on how many blogs you can follow in an hour, I have to do it slowly. I tried to use the import/export feature but it didn’t work. So, I have to somehow do it manually which is soooo annoying and will take me a few days. BUT, once I’m done with that I will be back to blogging like normal. Yay!

So, if you see that you’re being followed by my new account don’t freak out. It’s not someone stealing my blog or identity. Although, I guess if I was doing that, that’s exactly what I would say… jk. It’s just little old me. I don’t think I’m important enough for anyone to want to steal my blog.

Overall

Overall, I am grateful that eventually the move worked out okay. Am I going to stay on WordPress? No, I’m pretty sure I’m still moving to self-hosted. I just needed to buy myself some more time which is why I moved to a new wordpress.com account. Now I can move to self-hosted when I am ready.

So, that’s it for my final update. Which I hope will be the final update. If you received an email for this, please let me know in the comments section. And if I don’t follow you on this account also let me know. I know I haven’t even caught up on the comments on the last two posts but I will. And I’ll catch up with your blog posts too. You have my word.

  1. Much love to you 💕

    1. Thanks so much 💕

  2. So glad you found a human who could help you:) Glad it has been worked out for now..

    1. Thanks so much, I was happy about that too. It’s hard to even find human customer care these day.

  3. I’m glad that there’s some progress. Is this account going to be functional or should I follow your new blog?

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, this account is now fully functional and I don’t think you’ll have to do anything from your end.

      1. That’s good too know. Happy blogging my friend

  4. Self-hosted was definitely the way to go for me. That’s not to say that I am problem free, but it certainly feels like less issues that others like you have had. Goodluck on getting everything situated and running smoothly once again.

    1. I think self-hosted is best too, that’s definitely what I am hoping to do in the long run. I’m sure that has it’s problems too but I feel that it’s easier without WordPress constantly messing your site up.

  5. Got your email and look forward to seeing the new site when you move, Best of luck.

    1. Thanks so much, glad it seems to all be working now.

  6. That was smart to move your blog to a new WordPress.com account. Genius move. Honestly I would have never thought to do that. I’m glad that things are [mostly] fixed now. Shoutout to Jeff – you rock Jeff!

    1. Thanks so much, I just didn’t see anything being resolved in my old account to be honest. They had pretty much just given up and I could tell. And yes, yay Jeff!

  7. Thankful for a human to help and you are back.

    1. Thankful for that too and yes I should be fully back by the end of the week.

  8. Got your email. I look forward to hearing from you as always.

    1. Thanks so much and glad to hear that.

  9. 🙂 It is nice to know that there was some improvement made.

I really do not want to imagine how many other things are unresolved.

Regarding business-related blogs, self-hosted is the way to go (I wish you the best of luck with choosing a hosting provider).

As I have said weeks earlier, “I do not follow you via email.”

All the blogs that I follow show up on the WordPress Reader (And, your blog post showed up on the feed of the WordPress Reader).

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, I think so too. If one can find a good hosting provider, self-hosting is definitely better than staying here especially if I’m paying so much for a plan. Glad I showed up on the Reader.

  10. Isn’t stubbornness the best personality trait? I am glad you persisted and found a solution!

    1. Lol I think so, what would I do without my stubbornness. Thanks!

  11. It sounds like an ordeal and I hope everything will turn out to be OK. I don’t understand all the intricacies, but I just hope that I won’t lose you. I think my longest duration of talking with tech support (not with WP) was 1 hour and it was quite exhausting. Well, you have made it and you have prevailed after all the hard work. Wish you all the best in fighting what is rightfully yours!!!

    1. It definitely was quite an ordeal but I’m happy that things seem okay now for the most part. Thank you!

  12. So glad things are working out!

    1. Thanks so much!

  13. nice article. ill leave my thoughts…

Thanks for reading , Love The Blog !!

  14. Woot! Woot! This is good news! I hate that you had to move everything, but I’m happy you’ll still be around. 💫✨🌞

    1. Thank you! Yeah, that sucked but I’m just happy to be back. Also, WordPress was the one doing most of the moving I just had to transfer my domain lol so I can’t complain too much 😅

      1. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

  15. Got your email!! I would have been an absolute mess in your situation!

    1. Thanks so much! I was quite a mess but I’m happy it’s over with!

  16. Glad you got it sorted out.

    1. Thanks so much.

  17. Finally 😊

    1. Yes, I’m so glad it’s finally over 😊

  18. Good luck to you Pooja 👍🏽

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  19. Take your time buddy

Chats solve problems better than mails, because mails takes forever 😛

I didn’t know if I get mail about this post, but I did received a notification, like I always do.

Wherever you go, whatever you do, I’ll follow your work 😁

    1. Thanks so much and I totally agree. Chats are faster and easier than mail but sometimes they insist on using mail which is annoying. Appreciate the support 😊

      1. Well… My issues are not yet resolved 😂
        I am happy for you

  20. Got the email.

    1. Good, I think it’s working for the most part now.

  21. Good for you! Fingers crossed and wishing you all the best!

    1. Thanks so much!

  22. Wow, what a marathon. Really glad you had such a helpful HE to work with you on the move.

And now I understand why you showed up as a new follower! But the move obviously retained all the followers you had since I received a Jetpack notification of your post (I switched from email alerts when all that was going on).

    1. Yup, I’m just glad it’s finally over with. And happy to finally get a good HE.

I think Jetpack is more reliable so it’s good you moved.

  23. It sounds like you found the best option for you to follow, so I hope that works!

    1. Thanks so much and yes it’s best for now till I can move to self-hosting!

  24. glad there was someone that was actually able to help. 🤍

    1. Same here, I was scared I would be stuck again 😫

      1. 🤍🤗

  25. Okay. Great. I’m glad it’s all working out for you. Now I’m confused … what would be the name on your new account, because you’re still following me … is that the old one then? And yes, I got an email for this post. 👍

    1. Thanks so much! It’s still the same me so nothing will change from your end. It’s just I’m using a new account lol 😅

      1. Okay. Great 😁

  26. Got the mail, glad to know that things are getting better.
    Take care!

    1. Glad to hear that and thanks!

  27. Good on you. Sounds like more bloody hard unpaid work. We probably all experience this in our freedom… 1. Because are educated and live in a bureaucracy… 2. Because we live in a health system where its gods won’t share its patients with complimentary assistance… and 3. It’s normal for those of you who are parents. 🙏
Well done for getting through. Don’t forget to take a moment to genuinely tell yourself you’re not half bad 👍

    1. You and I are on the same page about all three of those points. I can’t believe I have to do so much even after paying WordPress for my plan but that’s the way the world is these days. These big companies don’t care about its users just about how much they can make in profits.

      1. I got unpublished on ko-fi 2 months into a 12 month subscription. As the reason and its duplicity was clear, it just made my issue more real to some and they joined my discord. Sad but true. If we have enemies we probably should give ourselves some self care and some words of encouragement 🤣

  28. Happened upon your post on the WordPress feed and just wanted to send a friendly shout-out! Your content caught my attention, and I’m thrilled to delve into more of your captivating posts. Although I couldn’t locate the follow button (haha!) , I’ll definitely bookmark your blog ! Rest assured, I’ll stay vigilant for your future posts.

Looking forward to embarking on this reading adventure with you!

    Warm regards,

    TheDogGod – https://pomeranianpuppies.uk/

  29. Great to learn you’ve somehow resolved WordPress drama, Pooja. Moving everything manually sounds like a drag, but you’re doing great. Can’t wait to see your new blog up and running.
Take your time refollowing, and don’t worry, we won’t freak out!

    1. Thanks so much, I didn’t have to make the move except to transfer domains so it wasn’t too bad. Still annoying though as the move wasn’t swift or smooth.

  30. Good to hear you made a decision. I am sure the move to new WordPress.com blog was frustrating.
When something like this happens to any blogger, it really scars me because I don’t want to be discouraged to blog daily. It has become a habit and even though I started interacting with people after a year of blogging, I have made some real friends.
Every cloud has a silver lining. ✌️

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, this was sort of a wakeup call for me too and reminded me that I need to move to self-hosting because this time I found a fix but may not be able to if something goes wrong again. Blogging is a good habit, don’t get discouraged. In the end, things will work out no matter what.

  31. Great news! And I’m super glad a happiness engineer actually made you happy 😃

    1. Thanks so much! Yeah, that was a happy surprise 😅

  32. Why does every ‘improvement’ seem to make things worse? Why does every big stride forward end up with a loss?

    1. I know what you mean, it feels like one step forward and two steps back.

  33. I received an email for this 🙂

    1. Glad to hear that, although if I recall correctly you were receiving the emails before too which was really good.

  34. I received your email. I left WordPress and went to GoDaddy. I like it better than WordPress.

    1. You will regret that move, go Daddy is just as bad as WordPress. They are all bad. Tyrant Big Tech and Tyrant Big Corporations denominating our lives from anonymity.

    2. I’m glad you moved, I think if blogging is something we want to do longterm it’s best to self-host.

  35. It’s really improving and the site is also working nicely now I think! Well it’s really really so nice to see that actually there is someone who has helped you in this! All the best to you for this Pooja! 😁😉👍

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

      1. You always deserve it ❤🤗

  36. Glad you got it fixed! But man that sounds like an ordeal

    1. Thanks! It was an ordeal for sure but I’m just happy it’s over with.

  37. I’m so glad you’re back!😭

    1. Thanks so much!! 💕

  38. I’m truly glad to hear that your issues with WordPress have been resolved and the tech guy from WordPress, was able to assist you throughout the process. Wishing you smooth transitions and renewed excitement as you continue your blogging journey.

    1. Thanks so much, I’m so happy about that too.

  39. It’s great that everything is fine now. I’m happy for you! I follow you. 👍✨️💛

    1. Thanks so much and I think I followed you back again too! 😊

      1. 👍✨️

  40. Woo hoo! I am glad you are back on track, Pooja! Hopefully, all goes well in the future. 💖

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

      1. Most welcome, Pooja!

  41. Now I get why you followed me. 🙂 I got the email, so glad you’re finally resolving the issue. What a pain! But good luck with all the changes, and don’t forget to breathe in the process. ❤️

    1. Haha yes, hopefully this explains it and glad you got the email. I think most people did now. Thanks 💕

  42. Since you asked, I received an email notification for this blog post.

    Cheers!

    1. Glad you received it, I think the issue is finally solved. Thanks!

  43. I was wondering where you went and was hoping one of my posts hadn’t offended you. I struggle with WP and just assume it’s my lack of tech savvy. Am always interested to hear your experiences. I hope things are the way you want them to be now. Glad to be connected to you again.

    1. Not at all, unfortunately I disappeared against my will but excited to catch up with your posts. Thanks and glad to connect again too.

  44. Great post! Glad you got help. I got an email about this post.

    1. Thanks so much!

  45. Got your email. So happy for you that you got some good help! Looking forward to reading your new blog at WordPress.

    1. Thanks so much!

  46. Glad to hear things worked out, hope you get your self hosted site soon. Recently I saw an account from your name follow me and I was suspicious since I saw your post of leaving WordPress. But now I know it was you only 🌻

    1. Thanks so much and yes fingers crossed. Haha yes, I had to follow everyone back unfortunately but don’t worry it’s really me 😊

  47. Thanks for sharing this idea with this progress. I follow mine too.

    1. Thanks so much.

  48. Received….😎

    1. Awesome 😊

  49. I am glad you are somewhat satisfied Pooja and am glad you are staying around!!

    1. Thanks so much and glad I can stick around too!

  50. I can never think of taking the risk of moving the whole blog. Good to know that you successfully did it.

    1. Yes, it was a huge risk but my only option left. Thanks so much.

  51. This is good news!

    1. It absolutely is!

  52. Great to have you back Pooja and may your success continue. I’m looking forward to more of your amazing work!!

    1. Thanks so much!

  53. Glad you are back my fellow Jedi

    1. Thank you so much.

  54. Pooja love! Happy to see that it’s all slowly coming together for you. 🤍

    1. Thanks! I’m glad I found a loophole and now I can go back to blogging like usual 😊

  55. thanks for the follow! wordpress seems to be your own personal kryptonite. bummer. stick around you re quite good.

    1. Thanks and yes, it’s my kryptonite but hoping to eventually be able to move to self-hosted.

      1. to me that is like vpn. huh?

  56. Happy to hear you had someone from WordPress that was helpful. 😁 I did get the notification that you were now following my blog and at first I thought somewhere down the line you had un-followed me….glad that wasn’t the case. 😁😁

    1. Thanks, I was happy about that too. Haha yeah, I had to refollow everyone so that was all 😊

  57. Ha! I figured it was you, but now I’m happy to have the confirmation ☺️

    1. Haha yes, it’s really me 😅

  58. It is still WordPress. They are all tyrants, WordPress, Go Daddy, and all of them. Instead of blogging consider converting your blog posts with edits to eBooks and then expand from there. At least you will make yourself money when all you are doing now is making tyrants richer because they sell ads to advertisers and you get… nothing! Even if your eBooks don’t sell you lose nothing but time and it is all yours and you share with no one except the marketing. You can still be banned but usually it would be for something far more serious than these clowns shut you down for. After 14 years of blogging WordPress and longer at Blogger I am only keeping enough so I can say what the hell I want to say about something and that is it. Our lives are run by tyrants and our freedom is ruined by tyrants. Until younger start ups compete and change we have no choice.

    1. You’re absolutely right. All these big companies are the same and even if start ups are better eventually they will become big companies that behave like this too. I am working on my books but blogging is more of a hobby now. It’s become more about the connection than about the writing. And I got rid of ads because I wasn’t making anything off them. At first I did but now WordPress barely pays anything so it’s not worth it at all.

      1. Or the startup sells out to the same big tech who was problematic in the first place and we end up with the same thing. You are correct.
Find what makes you comfortable and then let your wings expand and take your to the highest levels of soaring…

  59. Glad the issue is being resolved, excited to read your posts again!

    1. Thanks so much!

  60. Glad you were able to sort of fix the problem.

    1. Thanks so much, I’m glad everything was eventually fixed too.

  61. I got an email!

    1. Awesome, I think things are okay now!

  62. Glad you fixed it!!! What a pain in the rump.

    1. Thanks and yeah it was super annoying!

  63. I received an email AND saw your “You have a new follower” notification.

    1. Perfect, glad to hear that!

  64. I got the email and a notification for a new follower !! Good luck with your new account ! I’ll follow it shortly.

  65. Received your email. Congrats on getting things sorted out sorta, lol.

  66. 👋 “Hello newbie,

    Welcome to the WordPress blogosphere.

Contact me anytime if you need any help.

I have tonnes of experience and knowledge regarding WordPress setup and operation.” Lol.🤣🤣

(Self-hosted blog?? Yes, it makes sense.)

  67. I Hope that this new account works out for you Pooj. You are handling things very well though considering. Looking forward to more of your work.

  68. I got your follow notification.

  69. I hope the new blog works out for you. Just to let you know I can’t find your new blog on the search list so I can follow it.

  70. Well done on transferring to the new account. I did wonder how you were my most recent follow lol

    1. Thanks so much, lol now you know.

      1. Indeed and very welcome 🙂

  71. So glad you found the solution, dear Pooja! Welcome back! Looking forward to your new blog posts! 😊🌸

    1. Thanks so much! Don’t worry my blog will remain the same for readers the only thing that’s changed is my account 😊

      1. 🌺🌺🌺

  72. Glad to know that things are working out for you. I got an email about your blog post. Hope everything will be on track soon and will see more amazing posts from you 🫶🫶

    1. Thank you so much 💖

  73. So you have a new blog, Pooja?

    1. No, the blog is the same so nothing changes for the readers. I pretty much just have a new account (this one) 😊

      1. Okay. I’ve followed you for so long now that I don’t want to lose touch with you!

        1. Don’t worry you’re stuck with me! 😅😉

          1. Yay! 😂☺️☺️☺️

  74. Hmm… what do 05/20/2017, 11/01/2021 and 07/04/2023 all have in common? According to my subscriber log, those three moments in time were when you opted to link your virtual world to mine. I’m glad that you’re still here and welcome you… all three of you!

    1. Oh wow, well I really have to do that more than once every few years. Thanks!

  75. Oh, my goodness! What an ordeal you’ve been through! You’ve earned a gold star for perseverance.

    1. Thank you! Yes, it’s been a lot but I’m just happy to be back!

  76. I wonder if my comment will show up here? Testing 123…

  77. Yay To happiness at the end of the WP crisis!!! Good job hanging in there Pooja 💕💕💕💕

  78. Thank you for following me again Pooja, I hope you never have to face these issues again.
Wordpress is not so motivating even for fun. I can’t like any posts or follow any of the blogs I like, its been months.

I wish you all the best, I enjoy your posts never stop blogging.

    1. No problem, I wanted to continue following the blogs I enjoy. I’m sorry to hear you’re having that issue too. I would recommend switching accounts. Nothing will change except you’ll be able to like/follow again.

      Thanks so much.

      1. Will I have to pay for the account?

        1. No, nothing changes with your plan so if you’re currently on a free plan you will remain on the free plan. Here’s some more information on how to make the move: https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
