Like A Phoenix, I Too Rise From The Ashes

And much like a phoenix, I too have risen from the ashes stronger than ever. Lol,  just kidding. Y’all know I can’t take myself seriously enough to compare myself to a phoenix. I’m more like one of those skin rashes that keeps coming back and you keep putting ointment on it and finally you’re like “omg it’s gone” but then I come back worse than before. Yup, that’s me. I’m the gross rash you can’t seem to get rid of. Way better analogy to be honest.

What I think I look like:

Like A Phoenix, I Too Rise From The Ashes Gif GIFs

What I actually look like:

Dennis Reynolds I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds gif

But that’s not what this post is about. Unlike many of prior posts, this has nothing to do with gross skin conditions. Or being a phoenix…

Thank you

I wanted to start by thanking everyone for the comments they left on my previous post where I aired my grievances with WordPress and contemplated leaving the platform altogether. I was feeling quite down as I believed I was being treated unfairly. But reading all the amazing comments on that post reminded me why I was here and what blogging was really about for me.

I went to bed in tears of frustration but waking up to all those comments was incredible. I have decided that like a rash you just can’t get rid of (if you can’t handle posts about skin rashes you should not be following this blog) you’re stuck with me. I’m going to be staying on WordPress.

It will take a little while for me to fully be back. And my blog may be down for a little while when the Happiness Engineers are working on it. Please don’t freak out about it. I hope to be back to blogging regularly very soon though!

The Bad News

It seems that my account has randomly unfollowed many blogs I followed and enjoyed. I’m not sure how to even explain what’s happening right now. Please don’t take this personally, it was not by choice. If I have unfollowed your blog please let me know in the comments section so I can re-follow it. Again, my apologies. My blog seems to be falling apart and there’s little I have control over right now.

I’ll share more in the future when I am back to blogging regularly. I have read all your comments so far but haven’t responded to all of them yet. And I haven’t been able to catch up on the blogs I read regularly. But rest assured, I will visit very soon.

I actually video called with DentMistry for like four hours the other day and it was awesome. There is nothing speaking to your bestie can’t solve. I’ve also been doing a lot of other stuff to help me get to a better place mentally. And for any of you that are worried, don’t be. I’m in a good place right now. Denial is absolutely bliss. I get why people like it so much now. Just kidding, I’m genuinely doing well and totally not in denial. That’s not sarcasm, I don’t know why it came out sarcastic.

Anyway, that’s it for now. Please don’t forget me while I take this break lol. Love you guys so much, sending lots of virtual hugs and kisses your way! And do let me know in the comments section everything you have been up to, I feel so out of the loop!

If you enjoyed this post don’t forget to like, follow, share and comment!

  1. Glad to see you’re bouncing right back…

    1. Thanks so much, can’t wait to be fully back and read everyones posts. I feel like I’m way behind on that lol.

  2. You just helped me realize I haven’t posted in like a week too. Lol

    1. Lol, feel free to use me as a reminder to post.

  3. I think we should keep writing so we can be in touch always and we all can communicate easily 😊

    1. I absolutely agree 😊

  4. Your last post was shocking with how you were describing wordpress were acting! Considering you are paying for the service, it makes me wonder what/whose consumer protection laws or whatever it would fall under? It seems mad to have no recourse in the situation, and to be at their whim whether or not you’ve already been paying them, and for them to be so cavalier about generating bad will. 🤷‍♂️. I think we’re just waiting for an alternative service at this point. Better to not get too attached to any given platform! Enjoy the break.

    1. Yeah, their lack of care and effort was shocking to me too. Usually, they aren’t great but they aren’t this bad either. This was probably my worst experience so far. It’s true, we’re all just waiting for a better alternative. Thanks!

  5. The internet can be annoying sometimes but we all need and use it 🙂

    1. Yup, it’s definitely a double edged sword 🙂

  6. And the Sun is back ☀️

Seriously if WordPress is the space ( it’s literally a space where people can share)
And there are multiple stars ( bloggers)
You are the brightest star ( The sun)

Yes, there are other sun as well.

But of this solar system, you are the sun

Glad to see you back buddy 🤗

And yes, there’s nothing that a talk with bestie can’t solve. 😀

I can completely imagine how you would look seeing the second pic. 😂

    1. Aw thanks, but not literally back because I haven’t seen the sun in like a week lol.

      1. See yourself in the mirror 🪞☀️

Here, It was hot day yesterday, as compared to other days
But at night it rained for 2-3 hours 🙂

  7. Hey there! Stumbled upon your post on the WordPress feed and couldn’t resist saying hello. I’m already hooked and eagerly looking forward to more captivating posts. Can’t seem to find the follow button, haha! Guess I’ll have to bookmark your blog instead. But rest assured, I’ll be eagerly watching for your updates!

  8. It is good to know you are better. Enjoy your break. We all will be here when you return. After all of the stress you have been going through with WP, you do need a break to relax. Have a great week.

    1. Yay! Talking to you was an absolute delight and some much needed therapy! Glad you are back but wherever you go, you know I’ll follow you right there too. That sounds so creepy. 😀

      1. Aw, it really is always awesome when we talk! Lol, of course we’re always each others biggest fans 🙌🏽

    2. Thank you so much, I really appreciate the continued support.

      1. Of course, that’s what family does.

  9. You have such a great sense of humour, Pooja. (I really do believe you’re becoming an optimist! 😅)

I checked and it looks like you are still subscribed to my blog… and you’ll be happy to know I posted another jazz piece! I look forward to seeing your comments again soon, and reading your posts, too, of course!

    1. Haha thanks, so excited to listen to that. Will probably visit tomorrow!

      1. Enjoy! 🙂

  10. I am very happy to read this.

    1. Thanks so much.

  11. WordPress feels like wordpress when you are around😊

    1. Aw, thanks so much 😊

  12. You must stand up for your freedom, no matter where you reside, and never back down no matter how powerful the force is that is against you.

    1. Thanks so much, you’re right we always need to stand up for ourselves.

  13. I am so happy you’ve decided to stay! ❤️ It looks like my blog was one that you got unfollowed from.

    1. Thanks so much, I think I followed it again but in case I didn’t do let me know!

  14. 😂love your intro, Pooja.

…. and so so glad you back 🤍🤗

    1. Lol thanks, I’ve missed your poems so much I’m excited to catch up on them 🤗

  18. Yayyy…so glad to see you 😍😍 enjoy!!!

    1. Thank you! 😊

  19. Fantastic. This is seriously the best thing I have heard today… and I have had some victories. Kick ass my friend

    1. Thanks, that’s so kind of you to say. I’m happy to be back and excited to catch up on your blog.

  20. Nice to see you on my feed again. 🙏🙏 Happy you’re doing well, Pooja G

    1. Thanks so much 😊

  21. WordPress feels empty when you are not around. I’m so glad you’ve decided to stay, Pooja! You inspire so many people you know, we will always support you.

    1. Aw thank you, I’m glad I decided to stay as well because I always miss you guys too.

  22. This random un-following has been going on for a long time. One day you miss a a blogger who’s posts you used to enjoy and you find out that WP has unfollowed them from your blog. I hope this break gives you time to relax.

    1. Yes, I’ve noticed that too. Blogs often get unfollowed automatically. So weird. Thanks so much.

      1. You’re most welcome.

  23.     I enjoy reading your blog and I missed you. There’s an annoying cliché that pops up from time-to-time with an exceptional good news story that (if I had it) would go into a “grinding my gears” section like you have. The expression is “children are resilient”. That’s only true for small group of exceptional children. Most who suffer significant trauma and have crazy parents and guardians do not recover and are not resilient.[I’m not resilient, but anyway…] So, anyway, I’m glad to see that despite not being a phoenix, and not being a child, that you’re “resilient” in your own special way with charming well-directed tantrums of the best kind. For myself, I thought the last straw with WordPress was when the tags in my reader stopped working — it started listing and then went blank. I was trying to explore new blogs. I was getting 0 comments and the likes were from spam companies. I think I did comment somewhere I insulted someone I think accidentally. I’m not good at diplomacy. My conlang ideas collapsed again (my use of vectors was not practical and beyond my understanding).
Best wishes and may you rise again when you’re ready to fly by the grace of WordPress although there may be other gods.

    1. Thanks. Yes, it seems even us adults have to be resilient. I’m hoping only sometimes because this is too much work to do often lol. I had the same issue with tags and they kept telling me the problem is with my WiFi, eventually it fixed itself though.

  24. Aaaah! Good to have you back Pooj! The madness of WordPress is extremely annoying. They seem to just randomly do things that make things worse! I guess they call it progress.
They’ve done something to my blog but I don’t know what. My traffic has gone down to a quarter of what it was. On the positive side I no longer receive ANY spam. As I was getting around 200 spam messages a day that is a significant change.
Not having much of an audience anymore is making me wonder about why I am doing it. So I might shut it down.
Anyway Pooj – don’t make any rash decisions!

    1. Thanks so much!

It’s not just you, everyone is complaining about the lack of traffic. My theory is that WordPress is either limiting traffic to blogs that don’t pay for promotion or so many people have left that there isn’t much traffic anymore. Or a bit of both. I’m still getting so much spam, it’s so annoying.

  25. Yaay! Pooja G is back. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger says in a movie, – I ll be back.
I am so happy that you are feeling good again. As for me, I have decided that I will learn more about self hosting and eventually leave WordPress.
The breaking news in my country is that tomatoes now cost INR 120. And people have started using packaged tomato puree. My sister did a cooking experiment, and in a vegetable curry, instead of tomatoes, she put tomato ketchup. We ate it because it was delicious with a tangy flavour.
    Take care, Pooja.

    1. Thanks so much, I have decided to eventually leave too. I just need some time to think about what to use for self-hosting. I think self-hosting is way better than any of the plans WordPress offers.
Omg, 120 INR is crazy for tomatoes. You can also grind and freeze tomatoes into cubes and use those in curries. That lasts longer than buying fresh tomatoes all the time. Glad ketchup worked too.

  26. Welcome back Pooja 🙂

    1. Thanks so much 🙂

  27. I followed you on Instagram

    1. Thanks I appreciate that, did I follow you back? Sometimes I miss people so let me know if I haven’t and I’ll follow back.

      1. No i guess you didn’t follow me back on Instagram. My is us fatima_hassan6

  28. Glad to see you are doing better. After all of the stress with WP, you need a break. We all will be here when you return. Enjoy your break. Just relax and everything will be fine. Have a great week.

    1. Thanks so much, have a great week too.

      1. You’re welcome.

  29. Your previous post had me worried, but reading this update has brought a smile to my face. I can only imagine how overwhelming it must be to deal with the technical glitches and the unexpected unfollowing of blogs you enjoy. It’s frustrating when things seem out of control, but please know that your readers understand and empathize with the challenges you’re facing.

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, it was all so overwhelming but I am past the worst of it. At least for now.

  30. Welcome back, Pooja. You gave me a fright by saying that you were leaving, and I am glad that you have decided otherwise. I have to say WP is like a temperamental lover who often behaves badly but expects to be forgiven. Or a narcissistic relative who hurts others but has no self awareness.

    1. Thanks, I’m glad to be back too. I think I would miss everyone here too much if I left for good. Yes, that’s exactly how WP behaves. Maybe you should write a post on the narcissistic traits of WordPress lol.

  31. I love your perseverance, Pooja! 💖

    1. Thanks so much! 😊

      1. You’re welcome, Pooja!

  32. Very sorry to hear of your grief with WordPress. I was wondering where you had got to. Yes, take a break and a nice deep breath. The writing bug will call you back. It never fails.

    1. Thanks so much, yes I’m taking a break and hopefully should be back in a few days.

  33. Nice to hear from you . Relax and get some mental boost. Wish you to solve your problem soon.

    1. Thanks so much, appreciate that.

  34. ♥️♥️♥️

(Not a long comment this time.😁)

    1. Haha, short comment still appreciated 😊

  35. Wow, what did I miss!! I have to go read your blog to find out.

    1. Unfortunately, a lot went down but I’m back to normal now!

  36. Welcome back! You haven’t let them defeat you. Will wait patiently for your next post!

    1. Thanks so much! I read of Devang’s post that WP told you your issue was because you followed too many people and I wanted to say that’s what they told me too. I don’t understand the point of this platform if not to follow others and appreciate their posts. So odd.

      1. Yes. I thought it was weird their solution was to tell me to unfollow people.

  37. You sound in a much better place than you were before. Take the time you need, maybe journal and create some art for fun to just release old energies. This will help you open up space for the new, whatever form it wants to take! Be well!

    1. Thanks so much, I definitely feel better and hope to be back soon since I miss blogging too much lol!

  38. Weird, unless you made a new account it says I unfollowed you too. And your name doesn’t direct to your blog when I click it. 😖

    1. I did lol 😅

  39. Glad to see you are doing better and finding your own way to deal with what you are going through while staying in touch with your blog and what you love. Sending <3

    1. Thanks so much, really appreciate that. 😊

  40. I just noticed you followed my blog again, Pooja, so thank you. But I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with the WP stuff. It’s not fun. But just take care of you during the break, and we look forward to seeing you when you return. I hope everything gets resolved soon. Hugs, Lauren

    1. Yes, due to my move everyone got unfollowed and I had to follow everyone again. Excited to catch up with your blog soon and thanks so much.

  41. Pooja you are so funny. I had taken a mental break from writing and reading so I just caught up on what has been going on. I’m happy that you aren’t quitting but if for some reason WordPress doesn’t work for you anymore, according to the people at Substack you can bring all your work from wordpress to them and start your own newsletter as they call it there. Just giving you a thought. Happy that you are doing well considering.

    1. Thanks so much, hope your break was refreshing. Thanks for letting me know about that, I didn’t know you could fully move to Substack. How would you say that platform is compared to WordPress?

      1. You’re welcome. Well, to me it’s easier to manage. It doesn’t have all the decorative aspects that wordpress does but as a writer, who really needs all the bling.

  42. I’m so sorry you have to deal with all these issues on WordPress and I wanted to let you know that you unfollowed my blog allroadsleadtoaudreycom.wordpress.com

    1. Thanks and I’ll re-follow you. Thanks for letting me know.

  43. And here I was thinking I can’t believe Pooja unfollowed me. Joking! 😁 Glad you’re sticking around, and looking forward to things returning to normal for you. 👍

    1. Haha of course I wouldn’t unfollow you! Thanks so much 😊

  44. Glad to see you! I really miss when you don’t post! (I know. Get a life!) But your posts are a great distraction for the stress in my life! It’s awesome to be able to hear what is going on in your part of the world, which is so far away from mine! Hope WP works well this time!

    1. Thanks so much, that’s so sweet of you to say! I know I still need to reply to your email but I’ve been busy so hopefully will do so by the end of the week. I’m still going to eventually try self-hosting but until then, I hope things go smoothly.

  45. Same thing happened to me as well. Enjoy your break!

    1. Oh no, that’s awful! Hope the issue is fixed for you now as well.

      1. NO! I just saw that I “unfollowed” a few others. I wondered why they didn’t pop up on my feed anymore.

        1. Omg, how awful. It may be because you’re following a large number of people. The reader is not very sophisticated and WP never improves it which means it stops functioning properly when you follow more than a certain number of people. I would recommend going to manage, list from last updated and unfollow blogs that are no longer active. I think that should help stop WP from automatically unfollowing random sites.

          1. Oh wow I had no idea! Will definitely do that. Thanks Pooja

  46. hi Pooja! it’s me linnie! i created a new site as well. come say hi! i’m glad you have a new site and it is working (and i hope i followed you on the right site!) <3

    1. Hey, that’s awesome! I’ll follow you back if I haven’t already 😊

    2. Your username isn’t linked to your new site, do you mind sharing a link so I can follow it?

  47. Im not sure about a phoenix but I do have a fantastic beast in mind. You can’t be a rash, you just can’t😣. Or can you?😁

    1. I can definitely be a rash sometimes 😅 What fantastic beast did you have in mind?

  48. Whether a phoenix or a rash (lol), I’m glad you’re back!

    1. Lol, thank you!

      1. You’re welcome!
